Adding markers problem

Recommended Posts

I searched and found nothing on this.

I have my overview and briefing done, and they work.

I am having problems with the markers. From the mission editor, I selected the "intro" map and inserted several markers and named and labeled them. I do have a start marker there. Everything is there and looks fine.

When I save it to a single-player mission and run, the briefing is shown with the map but no markers are shown on the map although I put them there in the mission editor. The only thing that is displayed on the map at the briefing is my group.

How do you get markers to show up in the briefing map?

Let's throw the html briefing and overview out for a moment because I assume they are not needed as a prerequisite for the markers to be displayed in the briefing.

In the "intro" map from the mission editor (the map that hides the groups, waypoints and units), I clicked the "marker" tab at the top right of the editor and inserted an arrow icon to display the enemy's advance. I named it "enemy" and in its text box, I put "enemy position." I put another icon on the map as "start" and named it "you" and put in the text box "Hold Position." I did not put any objective markers on the map because I have not gotten that far yet.

Saved this to a single-player mission and ran it. Briefing opens up (with briefing html text) but no markers are displayed--only my group.

Maybe I should not put the markets in the "intro" map but the "mission" map.

Correct.

Well, well.

It seems intuition will not get you through the editor. Since the briefing is in essence an intro, it follows that the markers should be placed in the intro map.

The "correct" way is very counterintuitive. crazy.gif

Thanks for your reply.

Think about it.

An intro is not playable. The map you're looking at always refers to the mission, just as the weapons inventory and any listed objectives do.
