Controller issue

I played Arma 3 for months with a Speedlink Strike NX. After a harddrive failure i had to reinstall everything and since then the controller doesn't function properly. I have the controller on xinput and the game recognises the controller and functions like a xbox controller with fixed button mapping, with all the buttons and sticks working. However if i want to use it with my own button mapping, the right joystick doesn't function. Every other button,stick and d-pad works, but the right joystick remains unresponsive. If i put it back to standard xbox controller, everything functions again. Tried it in directinput, the game recognises the controller as Strike NX, i can map the buttons including the right joystick, but in game the right joystick is also unresponsive. I tried several games and then i have no problem with the controller.After trying several possible solutions and reinstalling everything, it still won't work like before. Does anyone have some ideas or tips?
