Need help.

Recommended Posts

Here is my system spec:

P4 1.3GHz

Rambus 256

Geforce 2mx 64mb (yup..it sucks)

XP pro

Just would like to get some exsplenation about somethings i dont understand:

What does hardware T&L do? should i have it on?

Multitexturing is?? should i have it on?

W-buffer...no idea??

Cloudlets means?

Glide and direct 3d...what is it?

Also i would like someone with similiar system to tell me what settings are good.

When i do autodetect it gives me this:

Direct 3d T&L

1024*760 32bit

And the game(resistance) runs fine offline...but not online..it gets choppy.

About the advanced button..what should i set all the different settings to?

What things that i lower will give me the best performance on the different tabs under dvanced.

Please give me some good settings based on my system specs plz.

Dont matter if the game looks ugly, aslong as it runs smooth.

thx.

Hardware T&L is a good thingy...

It allows you to have the weapon muzzle flash in-game.

Dont know exactly what multi texturing is, but maybe it's what it's called smile.gif You should have this on.

Yes Cloudlets allows clouds, tey are moving and so on.

Direct 3d is better for new graphics cards, use it on your.

You should always use autodetect... Don't bother to use the advanced settings. You could adjust them a little tough.

What connection do you have? Maybe the game gets choppy because of it..

Frame setting reduces the number of polys in farther objects. In other words farther objects will be less detailed and by doing this the frame rate will increase as you increase the frame rate setting.

All these settings you will find in game options and in advanced options are more like try and see till you reach a good compromise between performance and visual quality. We can't really give you a "magic" setting.

I think your card will suport hardware t&l but I'm not sure, it's been a while since I used my gf2 mx wink.gif. If it doesn't work use Direct 3d. The good thing in T&L is, if I remember right, that the lighting effects will we done by your graphic card instead of your cpu. In ofp the cpu is highly used so if you don't give it work that your graphic card could do it will increase performance for other things.

Multitexturing use higher detailed ground textures around your player. It looks better like this so leave it on unless you have too much perfomance troubles. You'll have to try and see like I said before.

W-buffer is an alternate depth buffer. The primary buffer would be Z-buffer. I heard the z-buffer sometimes can have some problems in rendering stuff over long distances so w-buffer is suposed to be better for the Geforce series. I didn't see any difference but I just leave it on.

Always leave cloudlets on. If you turn them off it will not display any smoke or any explosions.

In resistance try reducing the texture resolution in advanced settings. You don't have enough memory to use the higher texture resolution. Even if you get more memory I'm still not sure the graphic card would like high texture resolutions wink.gif. This may help with the choppy performance you get. Turn off auto drop down, I heard that it uses too much cpu power so overall you loose more performance.
