ArchAngel4507 0 Posted December 5, 2002 Ok, after reading through Colonel Klink's Jet stream tutorial, i came across the part where he said you can make an object visible at night time by setting the lighting property to shinning under the vertex properties of the object, after trying this my self on a basic object, iv had the problem, that after setting it to shinning, the object is no longer visible in ofp. Now im just wondering, is there anything else u have to do to the object for this to work, does there have to be anything defined in the memory lod especially for this? is there anything you have to set in the config etc? or should all u have to do to make it visible at night time is set the lighting property to shinning? Please Help, thnks for your time.
ArchAngel4507 0 Posted December 5, 2002 To be more specific the object im trying to make visible at night time is a rocket/missile it has a 0.00 resolution lod and a geometry lod the geometry lod has components etc. ive got the shinning property to work on things such as a vehicle or aircraft, and iv even gotten the object to be visible if i just put it somewhere with the aircraft, not attached or anything, just any where withing the res and geo lods, and its visible etc, however still the missiles that get fire (hellfire/unguided rockets) are not visible in day or night time, but when i change the lighting property to anything other than Shining or Fully Lighted, they are perfectly visible etc, (not at night time obviously, which is what im trying to achieve)
Guest BratZ Posted December 7, 2002 I'm confused but you are using the lighting properties on a texture right? You texture the model then change the lighting properties of the texture. If your doing that already disregard this post.
ArchAngel4507 0 Posted December 7, 2002 there are two types of properties, face properties, and vertex properties. And yes im changing the lighting after its textured. The properties im changing are in the Vertex Properties, as the lighting properties in the Face Properties have nothing to do with it being visible at night time etc. When the model is selected u press E for face properties and Shift+E for vertex properties. Tanelorn 0 Posted December 8, 2002 AA, I just posted a thing on this. The dismal fact is... all shining faces on a rocket are considered to be part of it's rocket flare, and they disappear when the fuel runs out. SO if your missile was supposed to glow, now it will just disappear.
