Why can't i see myself and other units on the map?

When-ever I am testing a mission I am doing or just playing with the editor etc I can't see myself or other units on the map? What am I doing wrong?

mission editor assumes you are in veteran mode by default. and in veteran mode, you don't appear on map.

to change thism play a game in cadet mode, and then go back to mission editor. then the mission editor will be set for cadet mode.

or just start a single mission in cadet mode (u dont even gotta play it only get to the screen with the map and breifing then exit)
