Material overlay on model

The problem is complex. I want to impose a metallic material on the r71 model of the motorcycle (which, if fired, had the effect of metal).

I do this: I open PBO with the UnPbo program, I parse the model through the P3D analyzer (I extract the mal), I change the material in the Fire geometry.
Further, if you wrap the disassembled model in the PBO before changing something in it through oxygen and connecting it in the arm, the Bad file format error pops up. If through oxygen it has to be changed (the disassembled model opens in oxygen) and again toss the fragmented model into armo, then the system error "The memory can not be read" jumps out, etc. If the model is blown back, then an error appears in the arme " Error loading r71 / r71.p3d (magic) "

Tell me how to cope with these problems and impose material
