Do maps that have objects "baked in" have a path grid that keeps units from going through walls/etc

Hello

I've been digging around searching, trying to find out if Arma 3 uses any sort of path grid in the maps to prevent ai units from pathing though the walls/buildings, etc that have been put into map itself.

I have spent about two weeks creating a pretty intricate base in the regular game editor with the use of Neo's MB, and I am disappointed to see that through tests Ai units are walking through walls, walking through buildings, etc. I then went and tested the Ai behavior with 'baked in' walls/buildings on the map, and the Ai did just fine, always went around the stuff..

I'm kind of stumped, it seems that the Ai wants to ignore editor placed objects and potentially go right through them, unless I'm missing something?

Any help/insight is appreciated, I'm basically about to abandon the fancy base and port I was planning on finishing for my mission on Utes (AiA), and just use pre-made map content.

Objects added to the map are seen by the Ai, objects added by script are not seen.

Although i do remember seeing a post that says objects loaded by server addon are seen, it's when the building/base script is ran from the mission.pbo they don't get seen, maybe someone can confirm that.

Thanks for the reply

I can say that there is certainly *a level* of detection of the mission.sqm objects I have placed by the Ai, as they do sometimes walk around the fences/walls/buildings, but it is certainly not reliable from my tests so far. I can easily find a spot to send the ai here or there where they will just go right though walls/fences and sometimes even a building.

/Edit

Just discovered that it seems Ai units can walk through walls if there is a visual placed pathway that exists on the map of which a wall is placed across. I suspect roads may do the same thing. Just been throwing down a miniature basic maze of walls in the editor and testing it at different locations on the map, apart from the failure at the pathway, the ai has actually not gone through the wall yet. Have to try some more areas. Seems like things might work out after all, but just that the current location of my base may not work because of paths/roads on the map at certain points that are causing problems.

/Edit

After doing more tests on the Utes map, found that paths, roads, landing strips all can cause Ai units to go right through walls/fences if those objects are placed directly on the maps roads/paths/air strips. I also did limited testing of this on Lost Island, where paths and roads were doing the same thing, so the air strips may very well likely do the same on most maps.

I guess this topic is solved. That was a lot of testing lol.
