n33ko 2 Posted October 20, 2015 Over the past while I have been experimenting with making missions in Arma 3 (and did so in Arma 2 also). Ive recently been working on a new mission. I can do a lot of things in the editor and I know just a few scripts, but only those I needed at the time for my mission. I've had experience with servers, hosting them and running them etc. While working on the mission and playing breaking point inbetween, I've had the idea for a game mode I would love to be able to create, but my skills in that department would probably be severly lacking and take me a lifetime to do. Script after script that I don't know and would definitly need. Theres a lot that I don't know when it comes to something as large as this. However, its not that I don't understand the scripts or cant read them, because I can, I just don't know which ones I need or where to begin. So i've decided to share my idea here, on the one hand to find peoples thoughts on it and also, in the hopes that someone more skilled who is capable of making this, steals the idea and creates it if it generates enough interest. Without further ado, my idea: Project 1940s (just made that name up, I don't currently have an idea in mind) First off, the idea is somewhat inspired by breaking points class system. 1) Set in World War 2 era Backstory and reason for zombie like people running around (if zombies are even necessary?, personally I think they are not), but if they were, it could be something to do with the SS paranormal division experimenting with humans trying to create super soldiers etc. 2) Factions (similar to classes from breaking point): British, UsA, Russia, German, Spy faction? Civilians My thoughts on this are that British, USA, Russia, German factions would all be agasint each other, and on different locations on the map, each faction would have their own military base of operations as it were (They would have one or 2 small mounted machine guns on them that you could not move from its location and would need to be reloaded by finding the correction ammo), Members of the faction would be able to store items inside it) but only members of that faction would be able to freely enter it. Each factions base of operations would have a unique item for that faction that only spawned inside that building (a powerful/useful item, that there would only be one of spawned at any time so its rare and fair for everyone and not overpowering, the item would only respawn again after a set length of time if the item has left the base and the person using it had died (It would be possible for people to swap this item to their team mates within the faction only and not to other factions). Members from other factions would be able to taken this item and use if for themselves only if they successfully broken/fought their way into the base and taken it from its spawn location, then they would be able to use it and swap it between members of their faction until they died with it, at which point it will only spawn again inside its original base). Spy factions are basically free for all and are against everyone, even other spies (like hunters in breaking point). Spies would be able to find uniforms of other factions as loot around the place and when they change into that, they would then be able to freely enter that factions base. This would create tension and distrust and an edge of excitment as to who you are supposed to trust even in your own faction...they could be a spy. (The uniforms wouldn't spawn too excessively as to avoid any possible greifing etc. Or perhaps have a limit on the numbers of spies allowed at any one time?) 3) Map: Chernarus (would be somewhere near the russian front?, that would explain the russian like signage) Altis + Stratis: Italy/Africa campaign times? 4) Weapons + vehicles: Only weapons and vehicles from World War 2 era. There are already a lot of good World war 2 weapon packs, vehicles and player skins out there if those people would like to be a part of this or give permission to use theirs, Unless someone is skilled in making textures and objects etc for Arma that could do this instead. I think world war 2 weapons would be more exciting at times because I imagine battles would probably be more close range and not sniper rifles that can go up to 1600m. 5) There would be a currency and trading areas to buy items/supplies (they would be safe zones) (factions would only be able to purchase weapons or vehicles relevant to their faction here, however, they can use them if they kill someone for it). Each player has a starting sum of coins and each item is worth a certain amount and are able to be sold. 6) It would be possible to build small fortifactions/encampments with the correct supplies and blueprints (these small bases and encampments would despawn if a player had not entered the zone in a certain length of time, this is to help optimization and prevent greifing) The only large base would be the factions own base of operations 7) There would be randomly generated missions with loot at them if successfully completed. All factions would be able to fight over this with eachother 8) There would be no modern technology such as GPS 9) The blank areas off the map beyond the treelines would be pshycially impossible to drive beyond or auto death upon hitting the zone (with plenty of warning beforehand to avoid suprises). This would stop people storing vehicles outside of the map. All in all, I think it sounds like an exciting idea and the idea of having faction bases on different parts of the map would force the action to be all over the map.
