a few questions please...

hi chaps,

dabbled before in terrain building but got frustrated and abandoned it.

 

however, the lure is too great so gonna make it work now! :)

 

an answer to these questions would be a great help........

 

1. easiest way to get a mask...from a sat image? cant import this to L3DT as its too large.

2. what enhancement does the sat normal map do?

3. rivers and ponds...these are a must IMO. will these only be functional after the release of tanoa?..engine upgrade?

edit...

4. and fields..rice paddys. how do I put them in map?

let me try another....

 

sat image in bulldozer looks fine, but ingame is very bright, white almost.

 

the sat textures are there so would this be a rvmap thing?

 

I cant believe how many hurdles I come up against trying to do a poxy terrain!

1. paint your mask image with Photoshop or gimp

3. i hope you reed the answer on my Diyala topic , ponds and rivers are possible (but a lot of work)

4. why not if you have the.p3d object for this, you can use for this Neo´s MapBuilder.

no the satimage you can see from distance,

i mean your surfaces from close in the game ,the surfaces what you have defined on your layers.cfg

easiest way i found to make a mask image that is accurate is to use the attributes map from l3dt and import it to somthing like gimp, use the colour picker and haey presto, it even generates a mask palette!!!!

19th, whats causing my sat image to be so bright? its ok in bulldozer.

I see you have a real satimage,the image what you have downloaded is too bright, download a different image from another source....

or you need to modify it on Gimp o Photoshop (lot of work).

what software do you use to download the image?

If you use the attributes map from L3dt, make sure that you have only your defined colors on this image....
