Guides on Porting a map from ArmA 2 to ArmA 3 (Help)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, so I am pretty much new to all this and like usual you always want something that isn't available. Well anyways the map I want is for ArmA 2 and not for ArmA 3, there have been communities that have ported it over and they have modified it for their purposes. What I want to do is just port of the original map so that I can use it and maybe later on modify it myself. So you are probably wondering what map I am talking about, that map would be AppleGate... I am not exactly sure where to start besides setting up the software I need. I have my tools all set up (the ones I know of). So if any of you have a guide or could make a guide or anything at all I would appreciate it!

Here are the source files for the original WIP:

Well its already hard to get into mapping, plus if you want to port content from A2 that would be even more difficult.

I strongly suggest that you should first get some experience mapping from the tutorial samples over the community, and eventually you will get the skills to do a solid port of other maps.

Just download the source data, eventually you will know exactly what to do with it, but it will be really overwhelming if you just jump into a lot of data and files that looks like a complete mess without some mapping experience.

Its already hard enough to get started even following simple steps from tutorials, just get some experience and eventually you will port whatever you want.
