Question to satchel..

..just got my piece of resistance on friday and the only thing I'm missing now are the sounds from Satchel's dynamic range sound pack. I was wondering if you will set up a new one which works with resistance add on? Thanks in advance...

I´m trying to avoid an open config.cpp for the update, as this raised to many concerns regarding cheating.

Also i´m looking for a way to go around the "....uses modified config.bin" in MP games when using a soundpack.

The easiest way for sure would be to simply replace the sound.pbo, but this way you won´t get many individual weapon and other sounds.

What i won´t do is just a simple conversion of the old soundpack with config.cpp, as the above issues would remain. You should be able to use a soundpack without being called cheater and getting kicked from online games because of that.

It will be some time till it´s finished though.

And btw satchel, your soundpakc makes the RTS maps crash(RTS2 and Powermage Dynamic CTF)

Thanks for the response. I hope you will get it sorted out soon because playing OFP without your soundpack is like screwing around with a cheese razor - slightly amusing but mostly painful sad.gif

I couldnt agree more, without Satchel's soundpack, the game just isnt quite the same... Im just glad to hear that a OFPR-compatible version is in the works - many thanks Satchel:)

Whatever you do, dont change any of your existing sounds, they are so good as they are, especially the tank sounds - keep them nice and loud as they are now, this helps to make the game more realistic cos you can hear the tanks coming from longer distances, unlike the stock sounds which are silent until the tanks are only a few hundred feet away which is just plain stupid. Even boosting the vehicle sound volume a little more wouldnt hurt, including helicopters and jets. I mean in reality you can hear helicopters and jets from miiiiiiles away Just my suggestion tounge.gif
