Our tactics are based on the principles of improving gameplay and overall clan proficiency - not what conforms to a real military units. In return, players will find something beyond an off the shelf clan experience. Something that we value in the 242nd is not only improving on a player by player basis, but as a collective unit. That's why we revolve our missions, drills, and game play around things that need improvement. While we do expect a level of professionalism, we are still not a group of wannabe-MLG Arma snobs that treat this game as if we are receiving a paycheck; you will still get a great sense of community and positive energy in the 242nd. As a unit that participates in player vs player, our player vs AI missions are as realistic as possible to PVP scenarios. This means that our tactics, mindsets, and operations function as if we were facing off against players to create a more tense and exciting experience. We are simulators first, not soldiers. There are no 17-year-olds who are to be addressed as "sir", we're not fighting an actual war. We're a bunch of gamers who come together to have fun, in a structured, organized and planned environment. However, running a clan and a unit requires tremendous manpower effort from a short few among us who are not only experienced, but motivated to complete the tasks needed to keep the ship sailing. These leaders are not power-hungry maniacs who demand respect that was never eared. They are the people who hold the responsibility to the unit to provide a fun, organized environment. In short, a glorified event planner. There are a few different categories of events in the 242nd, and we can assure you will almost never be bored and roaming around the Teamspeak with nothing to do. Official Operation Nights allow large scale missions to take place. These operations occur on Friday, Saturday, and sometimes Sunday. Official operation nights also allow for the culmination of skills applied throughout the week to be implemented into an ultimate finale, in a sense. Battle drills occur during the weekdays and provide as a way to "dust off" for missions. NCO's will run these during the week, and members are encouraged to attend in order to get some practice in. These drills occur any time throughout the week. The weekday operation serves as a small scale operation to allow experimentation for mission makers, and get ready for official operation nights. This missions occurs on Wednesday. Basic Combat Training and Advanced Combat Trainings serve as a platform to make sure every Nightstalker is on the same page in terms of curriculum; if a fireteam leader asks you to use a certain formation, can you do it? What is an Australian Peel? What is medical procedure? Being reliant of the battlefield is always revised as a member of the 242nd, and BCT and ACT allows for this. These trainings occur any time throughout the week. NOTE: Sundays are usually the 242nd's "slow days". While someone may put together an operation, some practice, or hang around in the game room, Sundays is the day preserved for NCO paperwork day (sarcastic woot-woot!). This day is crucial in order for the 242nd to keep its consistent operations and drills going on a weekly basis. Applying for the 242nd is a fairly simple process. In short, applicants go through a 1-week evaluation period after filling out an application to see if the 242nd is the right place for them and vice versa for the community.
