What ports to open in firewall / nat router

Recommended Posts

What ports do I need to open in my firewall to be able to run a dedicated server and to have it listed in the online game browser.

I have checked out the OFP FAQ and it said

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">What firewall ports does OFP: Resistance use?

OFP: Resistance uses UDP port 2302 by default. Compared to old OFP versions, this will resolve some compatibility problems that used to occur when running with Internet Connection Sharing (ICS). Also, the default query port is now UDP port 2303. If an OFP server host selects a different port for their server, the query port used is the selected server port number plus one.

From Official Codemasters FAQ

15. Problem: What ports need to be opened in a firewall to play online?

Solution: Direct X will need port 47624 or 6073 tcp both outgoing and incoming

2300-2400 tcp both incoming and outgoing

2300-2400 udp both incoming and outgoing

Operation Flashpoint needs 2234 tcp both incoming and outgoing.

Does this still hold true for Resistance and Sockets?

I can connect to games fine to play, but now I want to run a dedicated server.

Thanks in advance.

I have also a NAT firewall, and i to want to start a dedicated server.

I opened up the ports like described above.

I have a Trigger field in my firewall-setup and an incoming ports field.

This is my setup:

Trigger Port

47624 2300-2400,2234,47624

6073 2300-2400,2234,6073

Is this correct?confused.gif???

I cant see my server in the server browser in the game. What should i do???

Which settings are you referring to? The top set, the bottom set, or both?

To be more specific, I'm trying to configure my Linksys BEFSR41 Cable Router/Firewall for hosting OFP games. It has Port Forwarding features (as well as UPnP Port Fowarding, do I want to use that instead?) and I'm wonder what ports to use.

Do I have to disable XP's built-in "firewall" in order to host?

Does anyone know if I can do this on Comcast? Other people don't seem to be able to ping my external (router) IP.

Both are mentioned in The FAQ.

The top is for Resistance, using the new MP socket interface. The bottom is for any version of OFP, using the old MS DirectPlay interface.
