edc 0 Posted July 28, 2002 Has anyone thhought of making parachutes that you can control where you are going in?
Snoopy 0 Posted July 29, 2002 there was one at ofpec.com a LONG time ago, ive d/led it and played with it before, it was quite good but i deleted all my add ons for resistance. ps i think the add on is lost
B@ZOOkA 0 Posted July 29, 2002 is it possible to make a controlable parachute?... i mean one which opens and you automaticaly leave when you hit the ground.... not just taking a plane and chaning its model and its speed and so on...
edc 0 Posted July 29, 2002 By controllable I mean like the modern parachutes that you can steer. I would personally think that you could just make a plane that looks like one.
Snoopy 0 Posted July 29, 2002 yes i did mean one that you can steer, you can gain altitude too with it
deadsoldier 0 Posted July 29, 2002 well..unless you make it a plane that looks like a parachute...of which you can only take off from ground ..then u cant do a parachute that u jump from plane, and open , and you steer it and you leave it when u get to ground. The OFP engine doesn;t support that. And unless it was an airplane that has a power source, then it wont gain altidude..OFP does not simulate thermals or air pockets or and hill side upwash. so you cant lift inthe parachute. Basicaly, OFP doesn;t simulate wind at all. cheers
B@ZOOkA 0 Posted July 30, 2002 uhmm... thats hard... so is it possible to modify the parachute function in ofp? i guess not....
KeeperHET 0 Posted July 30, 2002 What about a powered paragliding setup??? Stats for the Parapropter FUEL CAPACITY: 2 Gallons Standard (enough for 2 hours of flight time) (Upgradeable to 5 Gallons or 5 hours) RANGE: 40 Standard (up to 100 miles with fuel tank upgrade) ENGINE: 35-pound, 30- horsepower at 4500 rpm, 3-cylinder radial Konig. FUEL TYPE: Regular Unleaded from any gas station SPEED: 24 to 29 miles per hour CLIMB: Â 300 to 500 feet per minute TAKE OFF: 2-10 steps LANDING: Â 1 step AIRCRAFT WEIGHT: 25lb minus engine. 60lb with Engine STATIC THRUST: 141 pounds HEIGHT: 49.5 inches WIDTH: Â 49.5 inches LENGTH: 32 inches PILOT WEIGHT: 100 to 250 pounds LEGAL STUFF: No licensing or insurance required. GROUND HANDLING: Can be set up and taken off, flown, landed and stored by the pilot alone. But this is discouraged for the first flight. COMFORT: Once you are flying the Parapropter is weightless, because it is suspended from the canopy and you are suspended from it. You will be sitting in a very comfortable and supportive harness seat. FLYING WEATHER: Wind 0 to 10 mile per hour and steady for beginner pilots, and up to 15 miles per hour for experienced pilots. This is far more then most fixed wing ultralights. You could make it as a plane maybe? and maybe have it so that when flaps are up, that you would climb and move forward, yet when the flaps are down that you would float around at a pleasent rate of descent... Duke_of_Ray 0 Posted July 31, 2002 I wish OFP had shutes that you could open your self, and control like a real schute, I do not rembere the addon being like that. Correct me if I am wrong though, please.
FSPilot 0 Posted July 31, 2002 If you wanted a steerable parachute you'd have to make a plane, or at least an airfoil. If OPF supports planes, it'd support a steerable parachute, which is basically a glider.
KeeperHET 0 Posted July 31, 2002 oh wait, mine would be considered a vehicle.... thus you could eject from it in A PAREACHUTE!!!!!!!!!!!
edc 0 Posted July 31, 2002 That could be cool because that could be simulating your reserve chute then.
KeeperHET 0 Posted July 31, 2002 yes, expt that parapropter's chutes are kept open most of the time.... I think..... thus removing the need fdor a reserve chute...?
B@ZOOkA 0 Posted August 1, 2002 i think if you equipe the parachute with an engine(like keeperHET showed us)... it will no longer has something to do with what were talking about... then it would get something like that ultralight trike from ikarus... but anyway that addon is great.... its really fun to use it... especially in mp
