HB 10 Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) U.S.SOCOM or United States Special Operations Command is a MilSim unit that is based around the real life U.S.SOCOM. We are community of players from all around the world and have been striving for excellence since 2009. A lot of time has been spent researching on the real life training, fighting and customs that the units of U.S.SOCOM do. From this we adapt to the confinements of ArmA 3 to provide the most realistic setting as possible. We take pride in having the best trained warfighters in the virtual world. Each unit within U.S.SOCOM MilSim has its own rigourously run training courses from infantry schools to flight schools, to include our own Ranger School, Marine Special Operations School, Special Forces Qualification Course and Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training. We have finally made the transition to ArmA 3! To make up for the gap in realism that ACE provided in ArmA 2, we have a very customized modpack, tailored for our needs and standards for realism! To play on our public server, or to be a part of our unit, you need to download our modpack. The modpack can be found by visiting our website: http://us-socom.org/ APPLICATION Once you put in your application (apply here: http://us-socom.org/dod/index.php?f=8&rb_v=viewforum) you will be handled by our J-1 Recruiting and Retention team where our recruiters will take you through the application phase to make sure that you are ready to join our unit. The recruitment process includes: - Gaming Sessions - Written Interview - Board Review In your application process, a recruiter will constantly monitor you through the gaming sessions, interview and board review. It is up to you to put forth your best effort to prove that you have what it takes. If accepted, you will officially be a part of U.S.SOCOM, and you'll begin your career with us as a Recruit. To further progress, you'll go through BCT: Basic Combat Training. Here you'll learn the basics of being a Special Operations Warfighter. Basic Combat Training Day 0 - Recruit orientation. Here you will meet your instructors, get an overview on what is expected of you to pass and get paired with a "battle buddy" Day 1 - Gut Check. The name says it all. Here you will learn the tools to successfully navigate through any terrain you may encounter. Day 3 - Weapons Familiarization. You'll familiarize yourself with the basic weapons used in U.S.SOCOM Day 4 - Weapons Qualification. Here you have the opportunity to show your marksman skills. A standard is set for proficiency in marksman skills, can you reach it? Day 5 - Small Unit Tactics. On this day you'll learn the basics of what it takes to move, shoot and communicate as a well functioning squad Day 6 - Introduction to Combat Patrols. Taking your skills acquired in the previous days and applying them to a live fire combat patrol. You'll also learn how to plan, set up bases and ORP's as well as basic reconnaissance. HB 10 Posted April 27, 2014 (edited) UPDATE U.S.SOCOM is currently deployed in Clafghan. Here is an excerpt out of our OPORD: Situation: In recent months the situation in the Kunar Province in Afghanistan has deteriorated. Since the beginning of our withdrawal from the area earlier this year resurgent enemy activity has sprung up throughout the entire region and in the wake of this coalition forces in the area were left unprepared for the onslaught of enemy forces and suffered heavy casualties. The area is now considered completely hostile north of Camp Arrowhead. Units belonging to U.S.SOCOM that were previously tasked in the Baltic have been rotated back to Afghanistan in an attempt to restore order. Using the ALiVE Mod, the campaign tracks progress done by each of the units, making the theater of deployment a persistent world. Here all decisions and actions will have a consequence. HB 10 Posted May 19, 2014 UPDATE: We here at the United States Special Operations Command understand that some members of the MilSim community have a particular group of friends they may have played with over an extended period of time and have formed close relationships. We also strive to allow flexibility in enlistment options. So we would like to extend our enlistment options to include player groups of 4 or more to enlist with the Group Enlistment Option program. With group enlistment you can preserve your current chain of command to a certain extent, and choose billets that allow for your particular group an option to transition fully into U.S.SOCOM. GEO Recruits will forgo traditional BCT and move into an accelerated program as a group this course is known as the Warrior Transition Course or WTC for short. This will be to assess potential group candidates and so that current members will get a chance to meet and participate with GEO Recruits. Upon completion of WTC the appointed Platoon Guide will receive the grade of E-3 prior to follow-on training such as Airborne School and unit entry training. Once Initial Entry Training is complete and unit pipeline requirements have been satisfied, the GEO Enlistees will be slotted into billets and afforded the opportunity to conduct combat operations. Those slotted for leadership positions will be automatically enrolled in the upcoming Warrior Leaders Course (WLC) for that particular cycle and will begin the full transition into a future leader here at the United States Special Operations Command.
