Norlig 1 Posted March 7, 2013 Greetings. I was in Agia Marina yesterday and was testing all keyboard buttons to see if I could move where the GPS is located on the screen (the right ctrl+M gps) while testing, I had 25-30 fps, and I clicked a button and suddenly a windows error came up (arma 3 was not closed, but it was minimized) telling me to close programs to not loose data. I ignored that message, because I was actively monitoring the CPU and Vram usage on a second monitor and it was well below max. Anyway, when I maximized Arma 3 again, I had 55-60 fps and GPU usage had gone from 25-40% on each GPU (of which I have 2x 7970's) to >90% on each GPU. This makes me believe that it is not a huge workaround for BI to make this game more optimized.
xXxatrush1987 10 Posted March 7, 2013 this is because vsync and trible buffering is bugged in arma 3, so you have to do it every time you start arma to archive full gpu utilisation. i would recommend you to write it in the bug tracker. mfg
joschaap 1 Posted March 7, 2013 the game is eating vram atm, i run a simmulair setup (2x HD7850 OC edition 2GB) i7 2600K, and 16GB RAM and I have to restart my computer everytime after a 2,5 hour session, if i dont reboot the game keeps crashing/stutterring untill i do, simply restarting the game does not suffice after some research found out VRAM was filling, but not emptying, maybe ati needs to update their drivers for this game, not sure.
