"Authenticity" and Editor placement woes...

Recommended Posts

Guys guys guys... :q:

It was clearly said before Alpha release:

In the alpha the future factions are not represented yet, you should see them as simply BLUFOR or OPFOR. This means that no faction has any background story in the Alpha and any weapons that are on either side could be found on the other side as BIS made the Alpha to contain complementary weapons for each side. So basically: To even out both teams so that some basic gameplay can take place, every side has a spec ops rifle, HMGs, LMGs, Rifles with UGL and so on.

This is not the final layout of the factions weaponary!

More specifically, didn't Jay say at one point that they would actually be called RED and BLUE? I wonder whatever happened to that...

Yeah exactly thats what i am referring to, they will get proper background stories but for now we should see them as BLUE and RED or OPFOR and BLUFOR.

I just really hope people avoid a "wait and see" approach, I've used the editor more than any of the actual games from OFP all the way to now w/ ARMA3, and those that spend days creating a single mission, or vs map for their clans/friends/whomever know exactly how frustrating placement "can" be, what struck me was when I went to create a hesco barrier perimeter for a custom FOB, in A2OA we had a nearly perfect and accurate representation top down image/icon of the hesco barrier, now we have a big box w/ a "?" mark, back to place, save, preview, edit, save, preview, rinse repeat. I mean maybe to you folks who could care less about the editor don't see this as an issue but that's because you dont care like us editors/creators do, when it comes to the ability to generate content for whomever we choose, in-turn keeping the game alive.

How many of you think there would still be as many ppl playing A2 even as we speak without mods/maps/missions/etc? In talking w/ my clanmates who all are playing ALPHA we have come to the conclusion that there are far too many ppl defending the ALPHA as though it's the final build or as though it's not up for critique or suggestion.

So we can either A: have a wait and see attitude B: get all angry at ppl who accuse our precious BIS of not paying attention to even the minor details that actually matter in the end, or C: Observe and report anything we deem as an issue to help ARMA3 not only have a successful ALPHA, but BETA and Final Build as well.

I'll go with C.
