Will this rig be able to run Arma 3 on high settings?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I am going to buy and build my very first gaming rig soon (and I am stoked :D) and I was wondering if I would be able to run in high settings, maybe even ultra with decent FPS..

Here are the specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3470 Quad-Core Processor 3.2 GHz

GPU: Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 7850 1GB GDDR5

RAM: Corsair Vengeance Blue 8 GB

COOLER: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

MOTHERBOARD: ASUS Intel H77 mini ITX

POWER SUPPLY: Corsair Builder Series CX 750 Watt

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB

CASE: Cooler Master Elite 430 - Mid Tower

Medium to high settings should be fine. It won't run it well on all high and it will be like a slideshow on ultra. This of course is speculation as we don't know just how well Arma 3 will run yet, but I can tell you that that setup won't run Arma 2 well on high/ultra so I wouldn't hold much hope of it being able to do so with Arma 3. It's not much to worry about though, as you can mix and match settings quite well on Arma to get a perfect balance of detail, FPS and view distance :)

I currently run

CPU: i5 2500k @ Quad 3.3

GPU: Geforce GTX 660 Ti

Ram: 8 gb DDR 3

Mass amounts of fan cooling and heat-sinks i don't care to list.

MOBO: ASUS p8z68v le

POWER: same as yours

HDD: standard sata 3/gb

Case: Maelstrom full tower.

I am able to run arma 2 at full settings online without a hitch. The only time my game will skip or stop working is when the server has lag in wasteland (Wasteland is a mod). This computer only cost me around 900 bucks when it was new.

The only thing i see wrong with your build:

your going to limit your case size to a mid tower ( give your parts room so they can breathe)

your going for a Micro Motherboard, that after looking up is junk. The motherboard is the backbone of any system, if you put junk in that's all it will give you in return no matter how big or small your parts are in power.

Invest more into your Motherboard.

Your GPU could be better. On the Pass-mark scale your card comes in at 3600 which isn't bad but for an extra 40 bucks you could get a geforce gtx 480 which has a rating of 4300. might not seem like much of a change but everything counts.

Every year PC Gamer comes out with a issue that tells you what new tech is coming out and how it helps or doesn't help. In that same issue they normally go over a cheap build and why they are using those parts.

I would look into that if was you.

Arma 3 questions belong in the Arma 3 forum section. And while you are there make sure to search before posting as there already is a thread dedicated to questions about the Arma 3 requirements and what you should buy.

§7) Search before posting

If you have a question, please use the forum search function before posting to make sure that it hasn't been answered before. There is a big chance it has, not only does searching help to keep the forum free of multiple threads it will also help you to get an answer much quicker.

§8) Post in the right forum & right thread

Please ensure you make new threads in the correct forum, if you're unsure of which forum to post in feel free to ask a moderator. If a thread exists for the topic you wish to post about you must use it, for example all ACE questions belong in the ACE thread. All addon/mod questions belong in the thread for that addon/mod. In the case of DayZ discussions they should be posted on the DayZ forums, this includes problems with the Modification. The troubleshooting forum is not for problems with Addons and Mods!
