America's Army "Recon" version will be released at 8:01 EST today and I'm just wondering how many people here will be playing it. It looks awesome but I hope it's as realistic as OFP because the last thing I want is another Counter-Strike out there.

Seems a bit like indoctrination, or at the least propaganda. This game is free is it not? The publishers are backed by the Army are they? Hmmmmm.

The publisher IS the US Army.

The game looks great, I am very excited.

I am not too thrilled about the community though.

I'll definitly give it a try. But I'm not expecting too much.

I don't mind the propaganda; we get that everyday, we just don't know it.

I'm really looking forward to the training courses.

What about the things that actually happen in the army. Is there a peeling potatoes mini-game?

Even though it is a little ironic I don't think that the army should be promoting itself in this way. I doubt that there are any peacekeeping scenarios (e.g. escorting children to school through hostile areas).

Yeah, Im going to bust through the Ranger School training course the first day I get it and be the envy of all the little kiddies on the official Army server     Maybe the Department of Defense will see my l337 Rangering skillz, and give me a special commission lol. I kill me      

Seriously though, I think some CS kiddies are in for a rude surprise. I heard that the SAWs reload time is about 10 seconds long.

The thing that I'm worried about most is cheat protection.

Those kids might be ex-CS junkies, but their dedication to "own" is more powerful than our desire to enjoy the game.

Friendly fire will get you banned from the server without exception, meaning that even accidents will be punished .

On the one hand it has some positive points, because there is nothing more annoying than teamkillers, it also forces unit cohesion and teamwork to avoid friendly fire, you have to be more careful and know where your own people are.

The other side is that friendly fire is unavoidable in a crowded match, it will happen and what keeps someone that had fun teamkilling other players before, from running repeatedly and intentionally into the line of fire of his own team to get one after another kicked?

i ordered it a few weeks ago, theyre no longer taking orders though. Will the downloadable game be the same as the cd version

According to what I read ,you might get a visit by real army personel when online. How much you wanna bet theres an army sergent waiting to start barking orders at the first CS kiddi that says, CS's M4 is more realistic

I hope the cd gets here soon ,I wanna give it a try. This might go down in history as the U.S. militarys biggest blunder , or it could totaly kick ass and make GR look like a super mario game
