doveman 7 Posted October 24, 2012 Before anyone tells me to contact BE about this, I did two days ago and so far the only reply has been to ask me what sort of router I have, so I thought I'd ask here in case someone can help me work out what's gone wrong. Recently I've been having trouble joining ArmA2 BE-enabled servers and I get to the slot selection screen but then am unable to "slot-in" and after a short while, I get kicked with the message "BE Client not responding". I did manage to join and play on "Veterans Gaming Co-Op" server 5.9.23.136:2302 via PlayWithSix, which said "Protection: Full" so I presume that was BE-enabled. After I disconnected from there however, I tried to join "WASP" 176.9.143.117:2302 from the in-game browser and got kicked as described above. Just a week or two ago, I was able to play on "WASP" and other servers that now give me the "BE Client not responding" error. I've currently got beta v98089 of OA installed and have checked that BEClient.dll in Expansion\BattlEye has the same date and time as the beta files, so was obviously upgraded properly. PlacidPaul 11 Posted October 25, 2012 (edited) Hi, i've had a similar problem last night. I join, told B.E. is up to date, then it loads, then i freeze. (with no option to ctrl, alt, del ) I freeze mostly, but also have been told "BE client not responding". From what i can tell it's because my internet is not responding to battle eye server. If it happens in loading its a freeze. If it happens in lobby, it gives a message. I can join non B.E. just fine. I don't usually play on a B.E. server, so it's probably been a month since i knew i had no problem. I have sent a email to battle eye, and i'll let you know if i get it fixed. From a little research, i've found that some routers can change the encapsulation from VC MUX to LCC, and this has fixed it. I have no clue what that means though, and my netgear has no option for this. There is also another supposed fix, here's a link, but beware it's advice from the others side :nono: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/27133-fix-to-stuck-on-loading-screen/ The other fix for many is to update router, which i did need, but it didn't fix problem. doveman 7 Posted October 26, 2012 Oh well, at least it's not just me now ;) I've asked about this router change you mention on my ISP's forum and also whether they've changed anything recently that might be causing this, as I know they've been upgrading their networks recently. doveman 7 Posted October 26, 2012 (edited) I tried deleting the BattlEye folder and installing the latest beta, still doesn't work. The weird thing is it shows a couple of lines indicating that the BattlEye Client is working before I get to the lobby (something about GUID) but still once in the lobby I can't slot in and then kicks me with "BE client not responding". EDIT: Even weirder, I closed a few programs that I thought might be triggering some sort of BE protection (Radeon Pro, MSI Afterburner, Gamebooster, Actual Multiple Monitors, Eventghost) and then it works (I tested after closing each program and only after they were all closed was I able to slot-in). So then I tried re-loading those programs one by one and testing and even with them all loaded again, it still works. I can only guess that something happens when one of them is loaded at boot time that is cleared by closing and reloading the program later and it's this that causes the problem. PlacidPaul 11 Posted October 26, 2012 Right, just like mine. I'm sure it's up to date, but it seems their needs to be a constant connection with the servers battle eye, and somehow this is getting interrupted, and it kicks you. You can find many examples of this happening to arma2 or dayz players. It mostly comes down to internet connection or maybe reinstalling battle eye.
doveman 7 Posted October 26, 2012 (edited) Ah, I seem to have found the problem. It seems SpyShelter was preventing Eventghost loading properly at boot (the systray icon wouldn't popup the options to Show or Close like it should and I had to kill it via TaskManager) and something about the state EG was left in was causing BE not to work. I'd shutdown SpyShelter itself, so it wasn't that directly that was causing the problem. With SpyShelter uninstalled, EG loads normally at boot and I can connect to BE servers :) I tested by shutting down, one by one, some programs I thought might be causing the problem (Radeon Pro, MSI Afterburner, GameBooster, Actual Multiple Monitors, Eventghost) and only after closing EG did BE start working. Then I tried re-starting each of the programs one by one and even with them all running again BE still worked, which led me to the conclusion that it was the messed up state EG was left in at boot due to SpyShelter that caused the problem. EDIT: Spoke too soon. Even with SpyShelter uninstalled and EG working normally from boot, I still can't connect until I close EG. Can't imagine why that would cause problems for BE but it seems it does, although it didn't until recently as I've had EG running for ages and never had a problem with BE before now. doveman 7 Posted November 28, 2012 I'm still having problems with this, even with EG closed. When I first try to connect to a server after launching, it still won't let me slot in and after a while it kicks me. I alt-tabbed out and closed Jitsi and then I could reconnect and slot-in but the next time I launched, the same problem, so I don't think it was anything to do with Jitsi at all but rather disconnecting, alt-tabbing out and back and reconnecting again, although that doesn't always seem to work either. This is really quite annoying and I hope someone will help me fix it so that I can connect reliably and without faffing about. I've got my D:\Games folder excluded from Realtime protection in Avira Antivir. Are there any folders on the C: partition that BE uses that I might need to exclude also? PlacidPaul 11 Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) I decided to unistall battle eye and see if it could solve anything. I wasn't sure about how to reinstall B.E., but i thought i heard you can just join and it will reinstall then. I think this worked and i was able to join B.E. server! But, then it seemed to stop working. So i tracked down my location of the new B.E. and only found a .dll in Users/admin/appData/Local/arma2OA/, so i deleted this and tried again. It will work if i'm getting a fresh ingame update of this dll. But, then needs to be deleted again. Does anyone know whats goin on with this?! Or if i did or how to reinstall batteye properly?
