Is it possible to switch independents to unfriendly mid-game?

I'm trying to build a mission where some independents betray blufor. Does anyone know if there is anyway I can trigger to set independents to friendly with opfor?

http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/setFriend but it might cause issues midmission. There's been a few threads about how to do this lately though via grouping with opfor or something.

Have a look at this demo mission I did for someone. If memory serves me right it should help you.
