Unable to connect to frequently visited multiplayer mission

Recommended Posts

I've been playing a lot recently on the following server:

Name: Global Chaos Gaming : Zargabad Life

IP: 72.20.13.73

Port: 2302

The server went through an outage recently due to what the admins described as a "provider back end router issue". Ever since they have resolved the issue, I cannot get reconnected to the server. The server no longer shows in the Gamespy in game browser, I'm unable to find the server using the REMOTE button and also cannot connect to the server by adding a launch parameter to the shortcut

-connect=72.20.13.73 -port=2302

When the server first came up after the outage , i was able to connect both with the remote option and the launch parameters just fine, After about an hour of play on the server i got a battleye client timeout and was kicked. Since then my connection to the server has been hit and miss, sometimes it will show when i do the remote option and sometimes it will not. It's never consistant.

Here are some things i have tried :

  • Forwarded all Arma 2 ports on my router
  • Bypassed my router and plugged my pc directly into the modem
  • reinstalled batleye client
  • verified game cache in steam and ran arma 2 and OA once and closed them
  • multiple reboots
  • deleted all add on folders from my AO folder
  • reinstalled Arma 2 and OA from scratch
  • udated to most recent beta patch, attempted to connect. went back through previous 10 beta patch individuality and attempted connection each time.

It seems that sometimes when i bypass my router i can finally see the server using the remote option and connect. Seems to work ok, but if i log out the server will disappear and nothing i do will bring it back .

It's a very strange issue that i just can't seem to figure out . Are there any tech savoy members out there that might know the fix to this strange connection problem i'm having?

Could you please upload your .rpt file? Should be located in "C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Local\ArmA 2 OA" if you are on Windows 7.

You can use something like Temp Share to upload the file.

You are able to play on other servers?

Have you tried restarting your PC?

Have you tried clearing your DNS Cache? To clear your DNS Cache, do the following:

1. Open the Start menu.

2. Go to Run.

3. If you do not see the Run command, search for "run" in the Search bar.

4. In the Run text box, type "ipconfig /flushdns".

5. Press Enter or Return, and your cache will be flushed.

Alternatively:

1. Open your start menu.

2. Type "cmd" in the search box.

3. In cmd, type "ipconfig /flushdns".

Yeah i can connect to all other Life servers just fine. I've rebooted my PC multiple times and reinstalled as listed above. I tried the dns flush and that also did not change my problem :(

Are you running any addons that aren't allowed?

I'm running a fresh install at the moment, so no add ons at all installed. I deleted them all before i uninstalled.

Also, which way did you flush your DNS? The first or second method?

Visual steps for method 2.
