SpaceSciences 1 Posted May 5, 2012 I know Arma is a Wagame and it wants to be realistic. But In my opinion I missed a very big Point and that is the point tat no enemy soldier....specially the AI cant be captured. AI Units are fighting against you and your troops like fanatic fighters until they all die. But in All wars soldiers will be captured as war prisoners and Soldiers are differently Motivated. Lets remeber to WW2 in wich more than 300.000 demotivated german Soldiers were captured in Stalingrad. Or Iraq war in wich many of Saddams Soldiers gave up. I mean imagine you want to capture a village. The Village is defended by 3 Taks and 30 soldiers. And you as a Attacker have Artillery and 12 Tanks and 40 Soldiers. Than you start your offensive first with artillery and anti tank missile and destroy all enemy tanks and kill 10 of 13 with artillery. is it realistic that the enemy continues fighting against your troops? Only in Some cases, if they are special and very loyal or fanatic troops. So my idea how to realize that with AI troops is: 1.Every AI troop have a motivation bar wich will be weaker if the attacking enemy troops are much more stronger in comparision to the AI. We can use the editor to improve the Motivation of the Soldiers. if the value is very high, enemy troops will fight until they die, if the value is set to the lowest, enemy troops will give up or leave the battle/run away much faster. If troops give up, they will put the weapons down and maybe hod a white flag or something in their hands. I mean there is a clear difference between troops in the world. I dont think if we are able to compare loyality and Motivation of US Marine Forces or some 3rd world resistance forced during the fight. I mea its definitly not normal if you attack with 100 troops and 10 tanks and artillery against 10 infantery troops, and the infantery troops will fight until they die. This would bring much more strategic deepth into this game and will bring much more mission opportunities. Imagine we can also do missions like splinter Cell ect with this function or we can create missions wich includes kidnaping of high ranking officials or an improofed inflitration system
purepassion 22 Posted May 5, 2012 (edited) Hey SpaceSciences :) There actually already is a rather complex moral system implemented in Arma 2 and enemies will eventually give up and surrender when being overwhelmed by enemies like you described it. Try the "surrender" module ;) Edited May 5, 2012 by PurePassion
SpaceSciences 1 Posted May 5, 2012 Woahh really, this is very coool. Every Arma Part is going to be better and better. Thanks for this fine Message. Are there more informations about this?

Try the "surrender" module ;) I noticed that, but I've never been able to order them around or anything. Is this an ArmA2 feature that I missed, or is it something that should be suggested for ArmA3? And, even so, it would be nice if this could apply large groups of soldiers.
SpaceSciences 1 Posted May 5, 2012 And do theyonly give up? or can they also run away?
purepassion 22 Posted May 5, 2012 They mostly try to run away but are also able to drop their weapons and raise their arms to surrender. You can observe this quite frequently in the Operation Arrowhead mission nr.
kimozabbi 1 Posted May 5, 2012 I'm working on a 'aggressive interrogation' mod, detainees are given a few kicks and bashes for 'intelligence gathering' purposes. :D
