Katash 10 Posted July 23, 2011 Tried reinstalling ArmA 2 today Installed ArmA II from DVD Installed OA from sprocketidea setup Tried to install BAF from sprocketidea setup Failed. BAF setup extracts the contents, then loads the loading splash screen for a few seconds then closes without warning and without progressing to the setup screen. Tried all the usual things, currently on 3rd reinstall of ArmA 2 making sure all content is deleted first, tried running BAFsetup.exe in compatability mode DL'ed BAF 3 times now and checked md5 - all fine there. WTF am I doing wrong? Please help.
kylania 568 Posted July 23, 2011 Install everything to something like C:\CO instead of the default Program Files directory. If you're not running BAF install as admin you might run into problems. Installing to C:\CO does away with those permissions issues. Putting it on a different drive is even better. :)
Katash 10 Posted July 23, 2011 Its something to do with the BAF setup Just tried running it within a VM and after the loading screen I get the 'please enter your email address and serial number' screen (presumably a sprocket addition) My user account is full admin and I have UAC off so that shouldnt be a problem, I know lots of people say to install to C: but I've NEVER had a problem putting all my stuff where it should be so I doubt that is it. Seems like something is preventing the sprocket security prog from running

Katash 10 Posted September 5, 2011 After about 3 weeks of emails (1 a day) from sprocket they ultimately advised me to reinstall my OS - Not entirely overjoyed at the thought of this I decided to try an alternative approach. I first installed and patched ArmA 2 on my xpmode installation (I have windows 7), I then took a copy of the registry and the Bohemia folder and installed BAF (which installed fine on my VM) I then used a comparison program to look for changes in both the Bohemia folder and the registry. IIRC the only change to the Bohemia folder was the addition of the BAF folder and all its contents so I copied this over to my original win7 Bohemia folder. The registry contained mostly minor changes apart from one important one - the serial number entry, I copied this key into my win7 registry and fired up ArmA2 ..... Well its been a few weeks now and its been running fine with no hint of FADE so it seems I've cracked it. Alternatively you could re-purchase BAF from somewhere that isn't Sprocket - maybe on disk as the Reinforcements pack.
jens198 0 Posted September 5, 2011 Had to delete the contents of "C:\ProgramData\Bohemia Interactive" and then I could run the installer. Jens
