Multiplayer Coop bugs?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I've upgraded my OS to Win7 from Win XP lately.

I have the steam version of ARMA2 (version 1.08.74450), I've noticed that eversince the upgrade I can't load saved games in multiplayer coop campaign, I just get the latest "suspend" save loaded each time.

Another issue was that after finally finishing Manhattan the campaign didn't continue to the next mission and I still had the "resume" on Manhattan to the location of the latest suspended save location....

on WinXP I remember that the saved games were loaded just fine but I did have the issue of the game not proceeding in the singleplayer campaign after the mission "one week later" which was solved only after I reverted to the mission before that.

Any ideas how can we solve this? It took us more than a month to finish manhattan and we really don't want to do it allover again

whoa, more than a month. I take it you didn't back up your saved games folder in your documents? if not, you could just use the endmission/campaign commands.

Actually I did back them up, we are playing only on weekends so it takes forever to complete a mission... :j:

The cheat codes work in ARMA2 MP Campaign as well?

oh, gotcha. as for the cheats, I went into singleplayer, clicked host, and in the missions list, I used the campaign command. looks like it worked.

It is a COOP-specific bug. If you use suspend save once. You cannot load any automatic or manual save after that. Unless you delete that suspend save in Windows. http://www.dev-heaven.net/issues/16205

Another issue was that after finally finishing Manhattan the campaign didn't continue to the next mission and I still had the "resume" on Manhattan to the location of the latest suspended save location.

Another COOP-specific bug. Other players should disconnect server before Coopers goes to meet to Shaftoe in the end. If you still didn't see Debriefing screen you did not complete it and that is why it didn't progress to next mission. Usually it will not complete if Shaftoe has clitched himself with that chair or camouflage net has dropped down killing him (you may not see these things when mission screen fades to black)

I did have the issue of the game not proceeding in the singleplayer campaign after the mission "one week later" which was solved only after I reverted to the mission before that.

This bug was fixed in 1.58.78473.

The reason why it worked for you after reverting was because this bug did not happen every time and you were lucky that time.

When you play Harvest Red missions cooperatively and you do not see Debriefing screen in the end. Load last save and always tell your friends to disconnect before completing last task/objective. There are many missions which will not end if there is more than 1 player on the server.

If Debfriefing screen still will not come when you play alone, something is clitching in the end. In this case always check where you and any character are located when mission is about to end. Try moving them by pushing with vehicles, wounding in the leg or what ever means. And stay away from camouflage nets and their ropes. I have seen them killing NPCs.

I'm tied to explain everyone why endmission is not good thing and what negative side effects it creates, but if you like to know it. See some of my other posts.

Arigato :)

So what is the best way to exit the missions in the middle if the suspend is creating this bug in the save games?

Should I manualy save then suspend and delete the suspend file?

iie

It works too, but I used another method which is actually easier (and faster if game is installed to fast drive). When you see "Saving Game. Please Wait" (autosave) just exit game and resume back to create new suspend. I had to use this method because I play Expert difficulty where there is only one manual save. So this way the newest suspend save is always newer than newest autosave.

It is also good idea to backup your savegame folder every now and then during mission. In case something that is wrong is written to latest save. Just keep a shortcut of your savegame folder in desktop ALT+TAB there and copy your savegame or whole profile folder to some other place. Do not spend too much time on desktop to avoid possible problems ALT+TAB may create.
