tilyard2 10 Posted January 17, 2011 Well, personally when I play Arma multiplayer I like to role-play a little. And I love it when people role-play back... Like for instance. I like to be up on high-ground with a sniper. And guiding/calling targets to a team mate and planning attacks and which direction to do so. (Normally do this on Evo-blue unlocked) Now, I'm actually really keen to set up my own server. And dedicate it to role-playing. But before i start hosting i just wanna know, how many other people would actually enjoy this type of server. I'm basically gonna get a Vent set up. Try make the server dedicated. (If I can't host/run it, I'm sure somebody else will do it for me) Or just generally host it, and who ever get's online first can host the map.. I was gonna have it locked. People can apply on forums to join it. Have 8 players maximum (Keeps any trolls out, and keep the fun/role playing guys in) - And I think 8 is a nice number of people. Big enough for decent team gameplay, yet small enough to all get to know each other, and become regulars...I hate when there's like 32 different people. Anyways just post your suggestions and leave me some feed back. Thanks :bounce3:
EDcase 87 Posted April 8, 2011 I wouldn't call that role-playing... its just co-operation the way its meant to be played. All clans play like that, just join one. Of course setting up your own server is cool too ;)
RedDogBOM 10 Posted April 12, 2011 Wasn't Arma2 orginally created as a military role simulator? Most mature gamers will play in squad against the AI, and everyone has their preferred role. We have found on our dedicated server that roles are dictated by the Maps we create. For example we have a couple of maps designed for snipers, moving up a gorge, attempting to capture flags along the advance and secure style of playing. Humans move left and right, bots up the middle. It is amazing at what these bots can do if your know how to script them right.
