Aculaud 0 Posted May 5, 2002 in search and destroy, it usually gets to a point where it tells you that the missile launch has been brought under way because Guba must have seen me coming. Does this happen anyway, or is it actually possible to complete the mission without being seen and taking as long as you want?
theavonlady 2 Posted May 5, 2002 To the best of my knowledge, this is a trigger that's tripped once you or your men get into visual range of the Scud and/or after the mission has gone on for a certain amount of time. I don't think you can bypass the countdown. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

IceFire 0 Posted May 5, 2002 No, that only happens if any of the enemies notices you.
theavonlady 2 Posted May 5, 2002 I seem to clearly recall sneaking in towards the scud without being spotted and the moment after I saw the scud in my binocs, the warning went out.
IceFire 0 Posted May 5, 2002 I don't remember that ever happening to me. I don't think I ever got that message unless I started shooting at enemies. I remember setting up a Carl Gustav man on the big hill targeting the scud, and having him hold that position for a while until I crawed back to the woods near where you start and then telling him to fire. Ether Dragon 0 Posted May 9, 2002 I'm on the mission now. I've spent plenty of time drooling over my objective without anything untowards happening. The five minute countdown starts if you're spotted by the enemy at any point. On my first couple of attempts, either I was spotted by spetz natz while clambering over the hill, or my unit was spotted back where I left them by a nosy BMP. Now I leave them in stealth mode before ambling off on my own. I haven't got that far yet, but I assume that if you take the full hour, you'll get the five minute warning as well. Mr.P 0 Posted May 11, 2002 I finished this mission in a fairly entertaining way.....I had a M16+mortars. I already knew where the scud was, so this was fairly easy, I mortared the thing twice then as it slowly came out of hiding (pretty well damaged already) I had my LAW soldier take it out. This saved my Carl Gustav soldier for the T-72 that rounded teh corner on my way off the hill.
