I have seen that many delivered scripts make use of debugLog...in the wiki it is mentioned that this would be inactive in the retail version.

Any reason for that...I mean why just not have an option that the log is written or is it written and I have overseen sth? :)

It's inactive because the RPT would get spammed with (for you) meaningless debug text.

If you want to dump debug yourself use diag_log instead.
