Adding custom faces

Recommended Posts

I understand how to add a face to a unit in the init box.

I have downloaded several custom face files. Here is the confusion:

Some face zip files only include a PBO file but no JPEG files.

Some face zip files only include JPEG files but no PBO file.

Now, the readme text file for the PBO files says to put them in the ADDONs directory. Ok fine. This is like all other ADDONS.

Now, the Editing Center says this for JPEG files:

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">To use these faces simply download the JPG file and put them in your user directory:

<drive>codemasters\operation flashpoint\users\<your name>

Then go into the Player Options screen and remember to select the skin as your face. Now it will appear in cutscenes in Single Player and all Mutliplayer missions.

<span id='postcolor'>

What the hell does this mean? So I put the face PBO files in the ADDONS directory but the face JPEG files in the USERNAME directory and not the ADDONS directory?

I am confused why some face files are only PBO and some are only JPEG and therefore have different paths to save in.

Jpg-faces can only be used for the player (you), while a pbo lets you give the face to ALL soldiers, even KIs (everyone playing the mission must have the pbo-file though). Fact is that the face.pbo-files are nothing but the jpgs and a simple config.cpp. Got it now?

LEAF: yes, yes, I got it!! Makes perfect sense, just had to spell it out for me.

Next question: In general terms, is there an easy way to import custom sounds in (wav or midi format) and have them sound when a trigger is true?
