ARMA 2 OA combined crashing to desktop in XP

My specs are as in signature but video card is now a Gigabyte GTX 460 1GB version (GV-N460OC-1GI). Just got it a few days ago and no luck running arma2 oa combined (1.52 patch and no luck with beta patches too)

With nvidia 258.96 xp 32-bit the game crashes in about 1 minute of play to desktop

With gigabyte 258.56 drivers the game crashes in a few seconds.

I get an appcompat error when i view the details

I tried fiddling with vsync, nvidia properties etc but there is no difference.

All other games run ok under win xp too.

I tried it in my small Win 7 64 bit partition and the game works fine with 258.96 nvidia win 764 bit driver but i want it working under XP 32 bit for now.

Can anyone help me out on this one

Have you already tried running without "-maxmem" command? Seems you get that "out of memory" crash under XP 32.

Does anyone think this is the reason for my crashes when running under my normal profile vs run as admin under my profile.

As u can see when i run as admin the values are very different in that cfg file.

Update:

I tried those values in normal profile but game is still crashing the same

Update 2:

All my drammas are fixed for now, no more crashing and played solid 1hr run as normal profile instead of admin.

The responsible setting for all this crashing was the memory setting in advanced menu.

I had "default" selected as my new card is a GIGABYTE GTX 460 OC with 1GB ram.

I noticed when i ran the game as admin it was set to "high" so i changed to "default" and game crashed. I then tried running as non-admin where i crashed before and changed my settings to "high" and "very high" from "default". And finally i get a stable game with my new video card under XP 32bit.

"very high" is suppose to be for cards with up2 512MB video ram?

"default" is suppose to be for video cards with over 512MB ram right?

Guess not for my card!

My previous 512MB 8800GT liked the "very high"

I'm guessing my video card is not fully optimised yet for ARMA2 and OA as it's recently come out and probably not making the best use of video memory. Performance is awesome with GTX 460 and E8400 as it is and if it gets better i gotta say no need for a quad core CPU.

I can actually have a big battle in chernarus without lag and have everything on atleast high settings with very smooth gameplay, so much for "Arma 2 is very CPU dependant" theory in my case anyway.
