Hi all, I'm probably missing something very obvious, but where is the localization StringTable and how do I edit it? I see a lot of references for the "#AR-*" strings in the prefabs, I assume this is localized string pointing to the StringTable . When I open the String Editor from Workbench, I do not see any files to open. Many thanks!

Creating an array from a stringtable
bbaanngg posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I'm using a stringtable.xml to store text dialogue for my mission. Is there any way to create an array of all keys within a container? For instance, if I have something like this: <Package name="Dialogue"> <Container name="Greeting"> <Key ID="STR_Greeting1"> <Original>Hello.</Original> </Key> <Key ID="STR_Greeting2"> <Original>Hi.</Original> </Key> </Container> I want to make a function that will create an array of all the keys inside the "Greeting" container in an sqf file. Something like this: _greetigns = ["STR_Greeting1", "STR_Greeting2"]; so that I can localize them and use them in order. Is there any way to do this? -

stringtable Use of stringtable in dynamicText func
FunnyCookieEver posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I want to use custom titles for speech, that will appear at the bottom of the screen. But I have encountered such problem, that I don't know how to use text from stringtable in BIS_fnc_dynamicText. The idea was to make it easier show titles only by calling own script with string parameters and not to write long ([...] spawn BIS_fnc_dynamicText;) every time. I don't know how to insert STR_01_N_1 and STR_01_001 in to this script. Call of this script was supposed to look like this ( _nil = ["STR_01_N_1","STR_01_001"] execVM "text.sqf" ). Need help(. Here is the code that is not working... private ["_name", "_text"]; // _name is a text from stringtable STR_01_N_1 // _text is a text from stringtable STR_01_001 _name = _this select 0; _text = _this select 1; ["<t color='#FFD500' font='PuristaBold' size = '0.6'>_name</t> <t color='#FFFFFF' font='PuristaBold' size = '0.6'>_text</t>",0,1.1,4,1,0,789] spawn BIS_fnc_dynamicText; -
Strngtable + structured text (HTML styling)
HazJ posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hi all, Styling doesn't seem to show for some reason. The text still displays though? player createDiarySubject [localize "STR_briefing_subjectWasteland", localize "STR_briefing_subjectWasteland"]; player createDiaryRecord [localize "STR_briefing_subjectWasteland", [localize "STR_briefing_recordAbout", localize "STR_briefing_sectionAbout"]]; <English><t size='5' align='center' font='RobotoCondensedBold' color='#ffffff'>Wasteland</t></English> Outputs: Wasteland (no styling) This however works fine: hintSilent parseText localize "STR_briefing_sectionAbout"; Styling is shown. -
Hi all, sorry if this has already been posted but I was unable to find a specific topic. I am trying to separate out different xml nodes into external documents to make maintaining them a bit easier. However, I have hit a bit of a bump in that xml does not benefit from pre-processor commands such as the '#include' command. I have looked into externally parsing entities but was unsure if the engine would limit the use of this. This solution would be perfect for what I am attempting to do but as far as I can tell this is not working. Seeing as I don't think this will work, does anyone know of some good programs that would be able to merge selected xml files into one file? My folder setup is as follows: | Mission Root |_ stringtable.xml |_ stringtables |_stringtable_1.xml |_stringtable_3.xml |_stringtable_2.xml Ideally what is needed is something to take all the xml files in this folder and merge them into the stringtable.xml file. Any suggestions? Also, if anyone has been able to use a method to efficiently merge xml files, would you be kind enough to share it to the rest of the community? Kind regards, Bull

How to quickly compare two stringtable.xml? (Arma 3 localization)
God of Monkeys posted a topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS - CONFIGS & SCRIPTING
Hello guys, I am translator that translate Arma 3 into Chinese author. I usually use WinMerge to compare new update file and my localization file. But here is the question, almost every time when BI update language file, it content will have some translocation problem. It's translocation content as same as my old file, but just change it's position. So when I compare two file will be very trouble to fix these content one by one.(ctrl+c & ctrl+v LOL) Have anyone knows how to quickly fix like this problem? Thx^^-

Hello. For some reason that I can't figure out, my localization files aren't working. Here's my files: Stringtable <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Project name="Arma3Aegis"> <Package name="A3_Aegis_F"> <Container name="PhoneticalAlphabet"> <Key ID="STR_A3_Night515"> <Original>Night515</Original> <English>Night515</English> <Czech>Night515</Czech> <French>Night515</French> <German>Night515</German> <Italian>Night515</Italian> <Polish>Night515</Polish> <Portuguese>Night515</Portuguese> <Russian>Night515</Russian> <Spanish>Night515</Spanish> </Key> <Key ID="STR_A3_Kydoimos"> <Original>Kydoimos</Original> <English>Kydoimos</English> <Czech>Kydoimos</Czech> <French>Kydoimos</French> <German>Kydoimos</German> <Italian>Kydoimos</Italian> <Polish>Kydoimos</Polish> <Portuguese>Kydoimos</Portuguese> <Russian>Kydoimos</Russian> <Spanish>Kydoimos</Spanish> </Key> <Key ID="STR_A3_CfgVehicles_Flag_Iran_F0"> <Original>Flag (Iran)</Original> <English>Flag (Iran)</English> <Czech>Vlajka (Ãrán)</Czech> <French>Drapeau (Iran)</French> <German>Flagge (Iran)</German> <Italian>Bandiera (Iran)</Italian> <Polish>Flaga (Iran)</Polish> <Portuguese>Bandeira (Irã)</Portuguese> <Russian>Флаг (Иран)</Russian> <Spanish>Bandera (Irán)</Spanish> </Key> </Container> </Package> </Project> Config class FlagCarrier; class Flag_Iran_F: FlagCarrier { author = $STR_A3_Night515; _generalMacro = "Flag_Iran_F"; scope = public; scopeCurator = public; displayName = $STR_A3_CfgVehicles_Flag_Iran_F0; hiddenSelectionsTextures[] = {"\A3\Structures_F\Mil\Flags\Data\Mast_mil_CO.paa"}; hiddenSelectionsMaterials[] = {"\A3\Structures_F\Mil\Flags\Data\Mast_mil.rvmat"}; class EventHandlers { init = "(_this select 0) setFlagTexture '\A3_Aegis_F\Aegis\data\flags\Flag_iran_CO.paa'"; }; }; Help would definitely be appreciated! Thanks, Night515
