  1. Is there any mods that increase weapons smoke effect when firing, not muzzle flash more like muzzle smoke/gas when firing guns? If no then is there any way too increase that effect?
  2. I am pleased to announce my first script release. GRAD Fireworks What it does Shoots rockets in the air. Takes input: Position Color (Random, Red, Green, Blue, White) Type (Random, Fizzer, Normal, Rain) Rain is always white. Sample Call (you can call from any client or server) [getPos objectname, 'normal','red'] remoteExec ["GRAD_fnc_callFireworksServer", 2]; Installation Copy GRAD_fireworks to your mission directory Put code below in description.ext Call the script via trigger, radio, script, whatever. Sample call above. class cfgFunctions { #include "GRAD_fireworks\cfgFunctions.hpp" }; class cfgSounds { #include "GRAD_fireworks\cfgSounds.hpp" }; How it works Uses Flares, Lightpoints and some sounds to achieve the effect. Therefore totally vanilla compatible. Computation is done on the server which then sends precalculated stuff to the clients. Those display the effects locally, but it should look the same on every computer. In usage example here: Download Script + Sample Mission https://github.com/gruppe-adler/grad-fireworks.Stratis Update 2022 Added Code Improvements by @sarogahtyp, updated + unarchived Repo Feedback welcome If you have any suggestions codewise or effectwise, let me know.
  3. Extended Effects Extended Effects (ExtFX) enables AI speech, dynamic environment sounds, tracers, bullet cracks and many other effects in vanilla CWA and any other mod Main features Enhanced animations, including leaning stances (by using WW4 animations) AI Speech (DSAI) with configurable languages for each side, including english, russian and arabic Dynamic soundscape: ambient sounds will play randomly when in forests, towns or shores Contextual stance for AI: AI units will stand up, crouch or go prone depending on the nearby objects Realistic tracers for MGs and MMGs Bullet cracks and reverb for shots indoors Dust effects for moving infantry and vehicles, bullet impacts, infantry shots, helicopter rotor wash, etc Smoke grenades now obscure AI vision. Also, AI with smoke grenades have a chance to throw them when in combat Flyby sounds for jet planes Destroyed trees will now obscure AI vision Engine volume levels inside vehicles adjusted to facilitate communication and be able to hear AI speech Other than this, the rest is the same as in vanilla OFP/CWA (same AI, same armor and damage values, etc). Gameplay will keep vanilla flavor. Optional features You can also enable other features that will modify vanilla gameplay further: Hand grenades will bounce before detonating AI units will flinch or fall down when hit by bullets AI units will be able to suppress an area occupied by enemy infantry Automatic launching of flares and chaff for air units Shots reverberate when indoors These optional features are disabled by default. You must manually enable them by editing the settings.sqf file found in the @extfx folder. Download Current version is in beta. This mod was created later past year but I haven't worked on it since december. Most features should work without problems. Only some minor bugs and some performance problems remain. It hasn't been tested in multiplayer, so I can only tell you that it works in single player. Also, due to the extensive use of getposASL and setposASL most of the features won't work in old OFP, and probably never will. My intention is to eventually keep testing, fixing and increasing the compatibily of this project... once I have more time on my hands, that's it. Main mod ExtFX - Beta version This always will be the latest patched version. Hotfixes will be listed below when needed. - https://www.mediafire.com/file/qu7e2e3c5x2922v/%40extfx_beta.zip - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0By2CaodBQ84GZTV1dDdIM1owMWs?usp=sharing Addon Packs These files include a series of addons that change the default vanilla visuals and sounds, making them more modern and, to some extent, more realistic. To enable them you need to change the definitions.hpp file in @extfx/bin with the corresponding one. You can learn more about how to change this in the included manual. - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0By2CaodBQ84GZTV1dDdIM1owMWs?usp=sharing ExtFX - WW4 models Models for infantry units from the WW4 mod. It's enabled with the WW4_FX.hpp definitions file. - https://www.mediafire.com/file/3u2urof85zc98a8/%40extfx_WW4.zip ExtFX - WW4 Extended models Models for infantry and vehicle units and sounds from the WW4 Extended mod. It's enabled with the WW4_Extended_FX.hpp definitions file. - https://www.mediafire.com/file/cn5a3ivm3i122an/%40extfx_WW4Ext.zip Hotfixes ExtFX - Beta version - Hotfix #2 This hotfix is only needed if you haven't downloaded the hotfixed main mod from above (if you downloaded a previous version). Each hotfix includes the fixes found in previous ones. To apply it overwrite the contents of @extfx folder with the contents of this zip file. - [none] --- Other OFP Materials - v1.2 Preview - http://www.mediafire.com/file/7a3fv9hi157j2ap/OFP_Materials_v1.2_preview.zip Mission: Clean Sweep (East) This is a version of Clean Sweep where soviets attack and US defends. It's the mission used to record the video found above. - https://www.mediafire.com/file/eswlcrh21hr41mw/06NinjasEast.Eden.pbo.zip Installation Shortcut method Delete any previous installation of this expansion (by deleting the @extfx and related folders) Decompress the zip file and place the @extfx folder inside your ARMA Cold War Assault one. Create a shortcut of the ColdWarAssault.exe file. Right click on the new shortcut and click on Properties. In the Properties window add the following line in the Target text field, just after the path to ColdWarAssault.exe : -mod=@extfx; Launch the game by using the new shortcut. Steam method If you don't want to use shortcuts and use the Steam version: Delete any previous installation of this expansion (by deleting the @extfx and related folders) Decompress the zip file and place the @extfx folder inside your ARMA Cold War Assault one . In your games list right click on Arma: Cold War Assault and select Properties. In the Properties window click on the SET LAUNCH OPTIONS... button. Write this in the text field: -mod=@extfx; Click OK. Click Close. Click Play. If you want to skip the OFP intro you can add -nosplash before the -mod line, like this: -nosplash -mod=@extfx; If you want to use the WW4 Extended definitions, models and sounds then you must launch the mod by adding the @extfx_WW4Ext folder this way (provided you already downloaded the ExtFX - WW4 Extended models file and correctly placed that folder): -nosplash -mod=@extfx;@extfx_WW4Ext Configuration files for other mods I've created a new folder with custom CONFIG.bin files for other mods. I've also included readmes to let all of you know what was changed in order to integrate both mods, along with the suggested mod order (which is, @extfx always before the mod you want to load). You can get them here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0By2CaodBQ84GaDNQaGdpSjdpWU0?usp=sharing Basically, when integrating this with one of those mods you want to load first the definitions.hpp file (and place it in the mod's /bin folder first) and then add the EH define to the Man, LandVehicle, Air and Ship classes. You should also add PRELOADBANKS_CUSTOM to PreloadBanks and PRELOADADDONS_CUSTOM to PreloadAddons, to make sure the tracers pbo is correctly loaded when the game starts. You might also want to replace their CfgMovesMC class with ExtFX's one. For mods or addon packs that don't provide a custom config.bin you can just load @extfx AFTER the mod/addon. Manual You can find more instructions and information about the available features and options in the manual. The manual is already included in the the @extfx/_docs folder in pdf form (ExtendedEffects-Manual.pdf), and it's also available online here. 4. Enhanced Visuals this is just the NVG (updated) and laser feature from "Enhanced Movement" seperated into a seperate addon. i will probably add the 3d/pip scopes to this later on once i updated them. also in general any visual feature i might come up with in the future. 5. Hey, The missile I have modelled isn't showing effects when in flight (i.e. burning rear, smoke trail). At the moment I'm using the effect from the Titan: effectsMissile = "missile2"; The effect works fine when the model is that of the titan, but when changed to my new model it does not appear. Hence I'm guessing the effect is generated from a memory point, which I do not have in my model. Trouble is...what's the memory point called? I can't find it in any references. Cheers, Law
  6. Adds destruction effects to various flammable related Eden objects. Search for "EO Exploding Objects" in the Asset Browser. Object destruction is roughly based on three factors: Size of object, distance from object, calibre of weapon fired. Steam Workshop.
  7. Hello, my fellow friends from the community! 🙂 -> We all know about some scripts for special effects like those of @aliascartoons. -> Such special effects can be spawned, for example, within marker areas, or attached to objects, placed on the map. -> I would like to create such areas or use such objects, generated randomly on the map and depending on different conditions that are checked by the script over different periods of time. -> In this case, as I suggest or suppose, that a condition can be: 1) if the player is moving; 2) if the player is alive; 3) if the player is X meters away from these objects; 4) if the player is within a marker area etc. They can differ and vary from the possible commands used in the scripting. -> My idea is these effects to be randomly spawned at different locations and time around the player so he wouldn't know where they can appear if he goes through an area multiple times or replays the mission. -> I can later provide example codes of such special effects, but I guess it's more important to define the way they would appear on the map. -> I personally prefer to add some objects on the map, but if they are too many, this could lead to a weaker performance of the PC and dropping FPS. So, is it possible to create these objects randomly and they are named after creation, using specific names, which are also used for the special effects as a condition to be triggered at the same time? We all know about the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-like effects from this mod or the effects provided by @aliascartoons. I have tagged him assuming he may also help to find a way and achieve this. Thank you in advance and cheers! 🙂
  8. Idea was to create a feature where you get 'something' for headshots. A side reward for accurate shot, mostly for CQB. Kill-feed is not the ideal option for arma or popping text with sound ..so I came up with this. Description: Headgear should have some protection, but what about goggles and NVG's? They shouldn't be that durable, especially if a unit gets killed with headshot. Helmets seems to be all static which are not. If you put a .50 cal round to the head, It's simply not possible for helmet to stay one piece. So I made them destroyable as well. Weapons with different caliber will act different on headgear, according to armor level. For example you won't be destroying armor level 3 headgear with a MX rifle although you might destroy level 2 helmet. For armor level4 headgear, you need high caliber weapon. There are different particle effects including coughing blood, big spray (of blood) going off mid air etc etc. For the helmet damage, powerful enough weapon caliber (like asp kir, gm6 or .50 cal) will not only destoy helmet; it will cause helmet parts to catch fire briefly. Brand new visual effects for head wounds, fatal or not. particle effects: friction sparks, glass shards, blood, fire dust, electric parts failure smoke, headgear parts and hat / helmet fly-off Randomized particle effects according to gear present on unit Each effect is randomized within itself for authentic simulation HMD / Helmet destruction by a head wound mainly depends on chance which is currently at %77 HMDs can be broken with a non fatal shot. This depends on used weapon type and damage value. Helmets can only be destroyed with weapon calibers equal to and/or higher than 7.62 Other factors such as helmet's armor level taken into account with weapon caliber for a better simulation 5 different sound samples for HMD destruction played random each time 8 different sound samples for helmet taking heavy damage Damage from a very high caliber weapon such as .50cal mounted on offroad, GM6 Lynx can cause parts to catch fire briefly In order to make 'catch fire briefly' fx visible you have to have particles 'high' in video options Performance demand of this add-on is minimal as It uses no loops and nothing is added to Arma scheduler Version: v1.14 Workshop link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1273833677 Github: https://github.com/the0utsider/ballistic-impact
  9. Hi, I've just started to get in the modding scene for Arma 3. I'm starting off with the basics like config modifications. And I've made a lot of progress so far. However, I've been working on a new type of ammo that is roughly equivalent to artillery in power. Due to this I was hoping to have the same visual and sound effects of the 230 mm Rockets from the M5 Sandstorm MLRS play when the new round i'm working on impacts a surface/target. But I'm at a bit of loss of how to go about implementing that. Any advice or suggestions would greatly appreciated, thank you!
  10. Good morning/evening! This is my first post on the forums after years of reading and searching, so please bear with me! I have been attempting to put a weapon into the game, and I have had great success so far, currently it is working in game, the model, textures, configs (mostly) and all properties like firing speed, and the ammo and magazines work. However. I cannot, after 50+ times of trial and error, get the weapon firing sound effect to work. The empty sound effect, and reloading sound effect work but not my custom firing sound. Blow is a copy of my script in its current state. This is a Star Wars weapon, and I am 100% sure i have all my file names correct. I am convinced maybe I have the path to the sound effect "wpn_rep_blaster_fire.wss" located in the "DC15SMOD\sound\" folder incorrectly formatted, as the weapon reload and empty sounds are just dependencies from another star wars mod. Most of this is practice based off of the Weapon Sample config in ARMA Samples. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know there is also a parameter for suppressed/non-suppressed weapon sounds, but this weapon will not be suppressed at all, and I could not find any information on how to set the sound configs up correctly either. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  11. Hey guys, I'm trying to add motion blur to 3rd person view. In this case the rotation blur in ARMA III. It exists for First Person view but does not effect 3rd Person. The initial idea was to find the camera settings for post processing and copy/paste over to the 3rd person camera settings, but it clearly isn't that simple, as there does not seem to be separate camera files or configs to change or script for. [exp: 3rdPersonCamera.cfg] Looking for any help with scripting rotational blur into the 3rd person camera. Of course players can turn it off if they turn rotational blur to 0 in the video settings. Side Note: I realise motion blur can be annoying and distracting in first person, but a lot of newer games are adding it for 3rd person, as if its a sign of a nex-gen game or modern engine *rolls eyes*
  12. HI, hope that this is the right place to ask this question, anyway i'm working on a video and i use a lot of animations, now i have a question, watching the apex trailer i see this thing go to minute 0:37 the enemy is performing an animation and firing with his weapon at the same time, and i see that the weapon is animated so i think that no effects was used, anyone know how to make that thing? :/ i really need something like that, thanks in advance DireOne :D
  13. Hello, Why can't I detach the smoke effect? I saw some post about particle effects and that in a later update it could be done. These posts were 2013. Any ideas? //creates my crashed plane _veh = createVehicle ["Land_Wreck_Plane_Transport_01_F",_arrPos, [], 0, "NONE"]; _smoke1= "test_EmptyObjectForSmoke" createVehicle position _veh; _smoke1 attachTo[_veh,[0,1.5,-1]]; _veh setVehicleVarName "crashedPlane"; crashedPlane = _veh; deleteVehicle CrashedPlane; detach _smoke1; //this does not work...meh! thanks, dubl
