Is this six updater?

My machine is well locked down, and no I am not surfing porn or free ware sites ever. I check for updates auto-magically several times a day.

This sat in my anti virus log since (about the exact same time) I updated ACE with SixUpdater last Friday. Our servers go down about 2pm to update ACE auto magically and we did ours (client side) early Friday because we were working on maps to play that night in a drunken orgy of explosives and bullets...probably not the safest thing to do.

While working on an arma map today and listening to music all kinds of hell was unleashed on my pc. I figure I might be subjected to coincidence but I wanted to post this in case some one else runs across the problem and is a tad smarter than the average bear on virus and/or Ruby. Probably Coincidence...but...

Six Updater 2.0; Little progress on the outside, more on the inside;

8xifzs_thumb.png

We were able use it to succesfully update to ACE 1.7 Update 2 today, yet it's not ready for public usage just yet :-)

Perhaps a beta in a week or two.

Also still planning on simplification once the dust settles, but as shown on the pic, one can already select some random mods and install :D

Web-client doesn't start / chcp errors.

Big problem. Helping a guy over ts3 in our clan to get his newly installed sixupdater to arma oa/2 to work for him. Every thing loads fine til it comes to the browser window. its nothing showing up, with other words its not loading any thing. No firewall, no antivirus, tryed the

Web-client doesn't start / chcp errors.

Now, what shall we do about this?

As mentioned on the Six Config Browser wave where you posted this initially ;)

Please create a bug report, and include the logfiles as mentioned @

http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater_Suite+support

Then we should quickly be able to determine what's up :-)

nice ;) really looking forward to this nice peace of software ...

Ok I have a question, I'm familar with the six updater suite with ace only, But now i'm trying to download some islands with it (lingor, Tora bora, Falljeuah, etc) From the 6thsense.eu server. But I don't want to download all the other mods that are on there too. I can't figure it out. I tried clicking edit server and just kep the islands I wanted to download but i get an error that says request to large or something like that when i click update. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

You should just add the wanted mods to a new preset, instead of selecting a server to download some mods :)

This doc item should help;

http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater_Suite+Installation_and_Usage#Attaching%20custom%20mods%20to%20a%20preset

Pretty soon all that will get a lot simpler though ;-)

2.0 is pretty much on par with features to the current version.

for 2.1 planning more features, simplifications, beginner/wizard mode etc ;-)

cool i figured it out thank you sur, another question. I have lots of mods already installed, I want to add them too the gui, like jtd, blastcore,etc. If I add these mods will its redownload them? or will it check my arma 2 folder for the installed mods and only update them as needed? I don't want to F up all my pre installed mods if i do this.

doh, should of kept reading the link that you showed me. It answered my question. But I do admitt that is kind of a bummer, with the new update do you stil have to delete old pre installed mods?

Not to diss your work Sickboy but SixUpdate 2.0 looks like something I'll want to use instead of something I have to use. A GUI like that is long overdue, great work.

If you use the updater to convert your existing mod-folders which exist on the network, then you can use the updater to update them.

If you don't convert them, you won't be able to update them, but you are still able to start the game with them.

You find the Convert action in the Actions selection.

Hehe, thanks ;-) Personally i'm also glad and happy that I've had the time and motivation to start on the project finally, and that IronRuby is in a usable state as evident by the app :D

No promises but i'm planning 2.0 RC at the end of the month, and then 2.1 with more improvements and simplifications for the next.

As promised (long ago already actually), I would hereby like to present to you, the Six Updater 2.0 Beta 2, first public beta.

The current feature set mostly matches that of the previous Updater Suite, yet in a brand new interface.

2.0 as previously announced is the first incarnation of the Six Updater on the .NET platform, while the next 2.1 version is intended to further simplify and improve the software.

The current beta is of reasonable quality; functional and without known major issues (the development was internally tested past weeks).

You can download the software from: http://dev-heaven.net/projects/six-updater-gui/files

The software requires .NET Framework (Client Profile) 4.0: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=5765d7a8-7722-4888-a970-ac39b33fd8ab

You can find the details of the software at:

http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater

As always, your feedback and bug reports are welcome at dev-heaven or wave;

http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater+Support

Please do check the Roadmap and issue tracker for known issues and planned features:

http://dev-heaven.net/projects/six-updater-gui/roadmap

As a final note, the software can be used side-by-side with the existing updater. The database will be shared, but without issue (as long as you run one at a time :P).
