OFPIP preview

Recommended Posts

:bounce3:

OFPIP is the successor of ACEIP of ArmA and WGLIP of OFP.

It is a pack of the best terrain wise community made worlds of OFP.

You are to understand that the goal is to keep the terrain as it was done in OFP.

It is a different type of worlds and does not compete and play in the league

of ArmA II worlds. Most OFP worlds are not based on real world (SAT) data.

Instead the creative members of the community though of interesting terrain

especially for PvP play and large scale (CTI) missions. :)

OFPIP uses by default ArmA II clutter and OFP Resistance Vegetation.

There will be numerous vegetation replacements like OFP classic, ArmA II,

or replacements for other community made vegetation.

Here are a few images as a start. Please note that I forgot to disable my

PROPER tweaks. So the ground textures are a bit messed up, and no clutter

is visible.. expect better images soon. :o

For now you can read more about it on the ACEIP BIKI once until the OFPIP

documentation is done.

So when can we expect to see this. I have noticed that the YomaSync does have these for download, but they are not ready for ArmA II yet

You can get it already via YAS yes. Feel free to try it. :)

The latest version is stable again thankfully. Here is the ArmA II clutter replacement addon.

Load it an extra modfolder AFTER ofpip like:

-mod=beta;x\oac\oac_core;x\caa1;x\ofpip;x\arma2clutter;

The release is missing documentation and some polishing.

As written maybe a few more worlds will make it into the first release too. :)

Warning:

Without the docu, the setup of the modfolder is somewhat complicated.

So unless you are familiar with it, best to wait for the official release.

OFPIP needs OAC_Core and the CAA1 object pack (CAA1 - ArmA - ObjectsOnly - YASDLS).

I hope we'll get some good old-fashioned d/l-links to get the pack once it's done.

When I downloaded this it still told me I needed the 1.14 version of ArmA to run the addons. I used YAS to down load this. Is there something I am doing wrong? When I try to download everything I need for the OAC core YAS states there is a server error and only allows me to download the oac_core.pbo. It states 404 error for the 2 keys needed and the oac_core.bisign

Oh hell nevermind I got it to work. My adult A.D.D. was just going into overdrive and I missed something. this shit rocks

IMHO the best user made island for OFP was Novajev Island. A truly stunning effort based on a modified Nogova landmass but with totally reworked road town and vegetation layout. I ended up using this map exclusively for the last part of OFP's life before ArmA was released. Even now when I occasionally fire OFP up I use this map.

Nah Mapfact Nogova 2 most beautiful and detailed island ever! Unfortunately a resource hog back then.

And Ebuds Tonal Redux :inlove:

I agree 100%...it is a shame that Mapfact shut down. I would have loved to see them port their objects and buildings over to ArmA2

Novajev Island is doable. Permission is needed though. Can you try to get it DMarkwick?

Most likely the guy is no longer around nor reachable, yet we have to try contacting him.

The addon itself has no readme in it. :(

I doubt Mapfact Nogova 2 is possible. It was truly awesome for sure!

That said Mapfact did not give permission to convert their barracks (OPFIP uses a dummy addon to replace the object with flowers). To get it for Mapfact Nogova 2

is even more unlikely I assume.

At the same time worlds with custom objects are a significantly higher effort (convert

p3d, merge textures, fix configs and other errors..).

My bad - W0lle made us the lovely ArmA II clutter replacement. :)

That is the crux of preview posts.. more vegetation replacements are likely to see the light.

I love that many of the old OFP islands are here in ArmA 2, thanks to OFPIP, but will they remain with the old textures and buildings or do you guys plan on upgrading them like the new Everon Island that came out not to long ago?

OFPIP already makes use of ArmA II and ArmA I buildings, improved by BI, as much as possible.

That said ArmA II changed the look of some buildings (textures) that no longer fit that nicely.

The rest of the few missing objects were converted from OFP with merged textures.

So can you explain how you would want to see buildings different?

A SAT-mask texture is not feasible unfortunately, as it must be unique for every world.

Now take 100 to 500 MB of textures for each world (30+ in OFPIP). You see the problem.

This is why OFPIP makes use of the 1-SAT texture technology. This is one texture

to repeat for the whole terrain. It still looks fairly good.

Despite that even making one SAT-mask is a big effort and since ArmA I no one was will

to make one for ACEIP. So without any community contribution sorry to say it won't happen.

To be fair Rg made the very good looking 1-SAT texture currently used by Everon,

Malden and a few others.

The beautiful Everon of SgtAce is just way out of scope for OFPIP unfortunately.

Maybe he decides to release the other worlds part of OFP or CWR2 will. :)

Finally the goal of OFPIP is to keep the look (style and colors) and gameplay as much as

it was made back in OFP.

Hope that A2 OFPIP ground textures can be switched like in A1! :)

yes you can.

you can have the same textures like back in ACEIP, moreover we added the possibility to use A2 textures as well.

Indeed. Of course you have green mountains all over the place were in the original were rock textures, beaches are all green as well. A custom satmask for each of the islands ain't possible, alone the download size would be insane.

For playing the old missions again the singe texture is good enough if you focus on playing the mission. :)

Thats good to hear! Are roads smooth (with less or no edges and steep slopes) so you dont see jumping vehicles and injured crews?

Which OFP missions are good to focus at for OFPIP? Will there be some missions or samples included?

CWR Made a good version of Nogova,Everon,Malden and Kolo.

Will have these islands in your pack more than 1 groundtexture?

Thanks for information and keep it up that great work :-)

P.S Whats up with Tonal? It was the greatest Map for OFP

CWR will release their work as part of CWR2 I assume. Best to ask them in their thread. :)

BAS does not give permission to convert to Tonal to anyone from what I've heard.

That said with the amount of custom objects, it does not fit into the schema of OFPIP anyway.
