Hey Communist cat, thanks for your effort. Before I start something new, may I ask how long do you think will playtime be? Also, what do you think about playing it with tpw surpress and asr_ai? I usually use them because I think they wouldn't influence gameplay too much. EDIT ah OK you say "use at your own risk".

Another question is (I'm not sure how ArmA works here in general): If you have used setskill() for the AI troops, does the strength slider in the game options affect the AI skills or is AI strength fixed by the mission?

EDIT: "Permission denied" on the Mediafire page.

Hi tortuosit

Please go to Armaholic here:

http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=20713

I’m on vacation now and using my tab so I cannot edit the first post nor update the mission as of yet.

Seems to be related to a music file.

To answer your questions, there are three missions.

Each mission has about 5 task objectives each.

Depending on how you play your missions,

I would give yourself at least 1.5 hours per mission.

Give a go and let me know. Please report any bugs.

Thanks

Kk

Hi, there's missions source files on Armaholic, but not the pbo...

You don't have to pack missions/campaigns to pbo files to play them.

Just put this campaign folder in ...\arma 2\campaigns. Launch the game and start playing.

Oh, new to me, thanks tom3kb! And I should have read the first post. I only had a look on the Armaholic install instructions which are wrong then ("Extract the .pbo file(s) to your ArmA2 Operation Arrowhead\Missions folder.")

EDIT: Reported it to Armaholic.

Enjoying it, but I'm not progressing. I count myself still as an ArmA n00b and have my problems. I love the jungle. I hate the jungle. Always lose sight with my comrades, and very rarely see an enemy... :) Anyway I love the setting and I hope you added some more chinese music... music does a lot to the overall mood...

Strange human noises sometimes there on the map. Sounds like someone got a dildo inserted ;) "ahhhhh"... AFAIK they are from the maps addon.

I just completed the first mission and I have to say that it is top notch. I really love the jungle fighting because it is tense, close range and drains your squad of men quickly. The chinese music adds to the mood even more. The only thing worth an addition is a kind of "swim script" that gives the units back their weapons once they lose them (I am pretty sure there was one back in ArmA1). Looking forward to the next mission.

Hi Mathias,

Thanks for the review.

Please NOTE:

Keep your guys out of the water as much as possible.

Park the raft as close as possible to the shore to unload your men, but don't get the raft stuck or, you'll be walking a long long ways to the next objective.

You can edit the mission's description.ext to disable weapon loss when swimming:

enableItemsDropping

Number

Disable dropping items while swimming. Introduced in BETA 1.60.93965.enableItemsDropping = 0;

0 = Disable

1 = Enable

Nice one, Variable!

So, in the description.ext, I should put

enableItemsDropping 0

Is that correct?

I tried the second mission today,

and I have to say that it is quite tedious. Don't get me wrong, the setting itself with Chinese instead of Americans fighting in the jungle is refreshing, but...

1) It's more looong patrols with frequent skirmishes cutting down my squad's size piece by piece

2) It's an overwhelming force at the third objective appearing from nowhere wiping me and my squad off the earth

The combination of above points just eradicates my motivation to try and beat this mission.

I'll get back in the editor and see if I can't cut down enemy forces.

As a mission maker yourself, finding balance is the most difficult part of editing..........

Thank you for your feed back.......

I'm through with the 3rd mission, and I found it much more balanced and enjoyable.

A few hints on improvement:

-Add a medic at the start of the mission (the squad did not have one)

-Avoid river crossings and bridges as these are always a pain in the ass
