I have to be honest, OPEX has totally be inspired by MSO (Multi-Session Operations) from ArmA II (and all successors from ArmA III: Patrol Operations 3, ALiVE... which are inspired from code34's Warcontext mission), so all credits must go to their development teams. After I tried it, I thought the idea of a fully dynamical task generator was brilliant, but there was some features that was not perfectly fitting to what I was expecting and some others that was missing. Firstly, I tried to customize original MSO but I finally choose to rebuild everything from the scratch. It's certainly not as good as MSO/PO/ALiVE but after more than 5 years of development (yeah, really !), and even if there are still many things to do (correct all bugs, create version for other maps, add new tasks, optimize all scripts...) I must say I'm pretty satisfied of what I did so far. It was initially a personnal project, but I thought maybe someone else could now be interested too so I'm proud to present today the first public relase ! I hope some of you will enjoy... MAIN FEATURES SP & MP compatible Option menu at startup to customize the mission by enabling/disabling/modifying included features Mission entirely built with random parameters for unlimited replayability Let the engine select a random task or select it by yourself among various ones (patrol, defend, attack, rescue...) Additional unique tasks depending on maps, to use some of their unique features (example: searching for caves on FATA...) Fully unpredictible situations to increase stress and realism: in opposite of most of all other similar task generators, enemy strength is fully random and is not based on players numbers Many random AI activities: patrols, ambushes, assaults, kamikazes, weapons caches, IEDs... Dynamical civilian activities Civilian interactions Dynamical reputation: take care of the local population, otherwise it may rise against you Credits system to recruit AI units and to order supplies and vehicles Gain credits when performing good actions (succeeding task, destroying weapon cache, neutralizing IED, arresting suspect...) KNOWN BUGS/ISSUES (any help is welcome !) Picture pictures\overview.paa not found at startup when joining server despite the picture is present in the mission folder, I don't know how to fix this. Ambient civilian vehicles are sometimes spawning on buildings (so they explode) when playing on some unofficial maps. It seems to happen because some ArmA I / ArmA II buildings are not recognized by the engine ? The armory may take some time to initialize ion MP (you may see a few weapons or objects flying at start-up). Just wait a few seconds, everything should automatically move on the walls (maybe a server sync problem ?). Ambient AI animations may sometimes be weired when playing on MP TO DO LIST (Extreme prioriy): fix all bugs reported by the community (High priority): add many new tasks (High prioriy): create version for many other maps (High priority): always reduce addon dependency as much as possible (Medium priority): add more details to briefings (Medium priority): add notes and tips (example: how to use tactical glasses...) (Medium priority): optimize and tweak all scripts and functions (or better: rewrite everything because so many time has passed since the first code I wrote !) (Low priority): correct current localizations and add new ones (will require some translators !) (Low priority): create more information for each civilian (date of birth, adress, job...) via setVariable command in Gemini_fnc_civilianInteractionsBehaviours function, so scan interaction could be more interesting (Low priority): maybe replace current units and vehicles with more realistic ones when they will be available (OFrP ?) IceBreakr presents: Southeast Angola 1974 Latest version: v1.3 (Apr 28, 2019) Previous release: v1.1 Aug 15, 2018 Terrain: 10240x10240 meters / HD Island has been created in honor of Recce 1 Commando Lt. Freddie Zeelie that died in combat operation in 1974. Island is set to year 1974 when South Africa's 1 Recce Commando Unit operated from FOBs in the North Namibia. The South African "Recces" were deployed to many local hot spots during the late 1970s and early 1980s, particularly Angola. Namibia-Angola border had no fence at that time, only visible cutout grass (line) about 1/4 down from the North tip of the map. There is only one FOB in central South region with an operational airstrip. Back in 1974 most of the land has been without any roads and permanent settlements, so we try to simulate that harsh environment in this map. But I've added some roads for AI to somehow cope with the harsh terrain. Map is dedicated to heroes of the war and used by South African SF soldiers that also enjoy Arma 3.     Start a Unit?

    Would anyone want to start a Mil-sim unit with me, I have 2 years of milsim experience, being a Squad Leader, Recruit instructor, and Processor for the my previous unit. I would like to start a new unit of my own. I can handle a lot of the forums aspect but I need someone to be more of the in-game know it all.   6. SOG is a North America based Arma 3 unit modelled after the Special Operations Group within the CIA Special Activities Division. We are extending an invitation to personnel interested in becoming Paramilitary Operations Officers, running operations on a different level than typical fire and maneuver combat performed by infantry units. The atmosphere at SOG is more relaxed, as we have all been a part of previous milsim units. No need to report in, finish statements with “Sir!” nor address members by rank. All of our NCOs and officers receive specific training depending on their rank/rate and their job within the unit. The Wrecking Crew The Wrecking Crew is a realism group that prides itself in its dedication to realistic and enjoyable game play, without the rigid aspects like permanent ranks and having to shout "Yes, sir" at a 14 year old. While we play mostly as British Forces to make coherent training possible, we have a whole host of players who come from all over the world, some as far out as Malaysia and South Africa. You select the role you'd like each week for our editor-driven operations, as long as you are competent and prove yourself by passing the required training sessions for that role, with some not requiring any. This allows you to vary from leading a platoon one week to driving a tank the next. The freedom to experience so many different types of game play without hindrance on the co-operation & enjoyability is something you will struggle to find in most other ArmA groups. It runs different dynamic game modes made entirely in-house with a more relaxed game play than in our operations, but it will still give you a good insight in the community and play style. About our Operations Alongside a public server that runs 24/7, the biggest event our group hosts are weekly 'Operations' with between 20 to 40 people. As well as the occasional 'Joint Operation' with other groups which have encompassed up to 70 people total. Our operations span over a century of warfare, with a monthly rotation of World War 2, Cold War, Turn of the Millennium and Modern Operations. This means that in one month you can liberate a French town from Nazi occupation, halt a Soviet mechanised assault in the plains of Northern Germany, brawl with Iraqi armour in the deserts of Kuwait and patrol through the hills of Afghanistan, searching for insurgents. In these operations any recruit or member can play any role as long as he has received the corresponding training. In our operations we strive for maximum realism. We find real-life solutions for problems that we may face in game, while omitting more tedious parts of military duty like saluting, hour-long marches and range etiquette. We aim for the most immersive experience possible by having minimal HUD, first person only, a single life and using ACRE 2 for communications.   16. YouTube Advert: Who are we? Zeus Community, an open community which has been playing Arma since the OFP days in 2001. Our Teamspeak server is our primary home with more information available via our website, forum and Discord channel. Links provided below. What should I expect on your server? We strive for Milsim oriented gameplay. In the hierarchical command structure, players are expected to follow the orders of their superiors and take responsibility of their subordinates. Communication and teamwork is key. Lone-wolfing, purposely ignoring commands, and other selfish behaviours will not be tolerated. We do employ some basic Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and radio procedures for the sake of efficiency but nothing overly complex which can't be understood quickly while playing. We play mostly cooperative (PvE) missions at platoon scale (around 30 players) though we have been known to play Team vs Team (PvP) missions on occasion. How many ArmA 3 servers do you run? Two main game servers: One “vanilla” public server and one “addon” server. The vanilla public server is open to anyone interested in milsim gameplay, experienced or new, as long as you don’t break server rules of course. For the public server, there is not a mandatory mod requirement though we do often play missions which require official DLC such as Apex for the Tanoa terrain. However, it is strongly recommended that players to connect to our Teamspeak server (even if you don't have a mic) since we use Teamspeak for pre-mission briefing, post-mission debriefing, and on-mission squad comms (instead of group/green channel). We also recommend that players install our optional custom modpack called "ZClient" which includes very useful clientside mods such as ShackTac HUD (see Info Repo link below). On the other hand, the addon server requires all players to have a working mic and installation of our custom addon server modpacks which includes gameplay enhancing mods such as ACE3, ACRE 2, RHS, additional terrains and more. It is recommended that newcomers try out our vanilla public server before considering moving on to our addon server where gameplay is slightly more hardcore (e.i. always revive vs permanent death). What times do you play? Zeus Community #1 Public: Gamenight every Sunday & Thursday, start 18:30 UK time (GMT/BST) Zeus Community #2 Addon: Gamenight every Saturday & Wednesday, start 18:00 UK time (GMT/BST) Why should I choose Zeus Community? Milsim gameplay but without the role-playing fluff. While the missions we run on our servers do employ a hierarchical command structure, the community itself (outside of gameplay) does not have player ranking, role whitelisting, or any other unnecessary RP fluff like some other milsim communities. No need for "Sir! Yes sir!". No mandatory training or minimum attendance required. We are an open community so we don't punish players if they happen to have a busy life and can't commit to playing games on a regular basis. We only ask that you don't slot into mission critical roles (e.g. squad leader, pilot, etc.) for a mission if there is a reasonable chance that you may have to go AFK for significant periods of time. Also, although we do employ basic SOPs, radio comm procedures, and we do organise optional training sessions, we don't require newcomers to undergo mandatory training before they can play. Just listen to your leaders, follow the example of more experienced players and you will quickly familiarise yourself with how we operate. In-community developed, custom missions. Using the 3den Editor tool, 99% of the missions we run on our servers are developed by the community, for the community. While we do allow our community’s developers creative freedom, we still maintain quality standards for our missions. Do note that, despite a coincidence in the name, we actually rarely play Zeus Game Master missions (our community name predates ArmA 3's ZGM gamemode). High frequency of brand new missions to play. Most milsim communities are stuck with a relatively small pool of missions to replay for months where new missions are produced on an infrequent basis. Our community on the other hand, benefits from a combined pool of around 600+ missions and produces an average of 5 brand new missions across both servers each week for the community to play. Mission diversity. Unlike many other milsim communities, we don't limit ourselves to particular factions, equipment, vehicles or mission objectives. In one mission you may be a guerrilla fighter with limited equipment tasked with ambushing an enemy convoy, and then in the next mission you may be a tank crewman in a combined arms scenario with CAS and artillery support. Even revive or respawn mechanics (or lack thereof) can differ between missions. Diversity is the spice of life.   24. Who We Are: This unit started as a merge between an American and a British unit all the way back in ArmA, yes the first ArmA. We didn’t start out as a parachute regiment back then, but as the 23rd mountain division. It became apparent however, that we wanted a different way. And we came into the world as 3PARA. Ever since then, we have kept to our high standard, and will always do. That said, we aren’t a hardcore (yes sir, no sir) unit, but we do get serious when we put our game faces on. We do this to honour the actual parachute regiment, from which we have been allowed to use the name. Of course we have both people who are a bit more serious, and some who are a bit more casual. We are humans, not robots after all. Our unit Is made up of people mainly from Europe, but we still have a few Americans who enjoy gaming with us. Many of our members are also former or current military, which provides a great deal of tactical know-how, as well as NATO standard procedures/tactics.
