    New Rangefinding system

    Hi, This a minor rant about the new rangefinding system. I'll be bold, I do not like it and it should not exist. I love being a sniper in wasteland, it is very fun, you just aim at your target read the distance. I off and on play arma for about a month then comeback. But this time I found out they changed it to where you push a button... That I imediately cringed. The automatic rangefinder was easy and more convenient. The game is based in the future, why not have automatic rangefinders. Why change something that was working thoughout A2 and A3? By default the button was binded to \ which is the salute button. This makes no sense. Why add another key command to the LARGE list of binded keys even to where they start overlapping? I hate the new rangefinding system. BIS, please revert the old rangefinding system back. It was just better in everyway. If not, atleast make it a option so the player can choose.
  3. I have purchased the Jets DLC through the steam store but cannot use the items in game. The DLC is listed in the list under the Arma 3 Tab in my library but I cannot pick up items in game and still get the advertisements on my screen.

    TAC-OPS DLC

    I know that BI is planning on releasing the TAC-OPS DLC sometime in Q3 2017 however I wanted see what the community thinks ought to be included in it. For myself, I am hoping to see the addition of some character assets and a campaign to round off the current storyline. Here is just a quick breakdown of some of the things I'm thinking: 1. Uniforms variants for all factions, to include: -hooded rain jacket top/combat gear bottom (Malden specific) -fleece sweater top/combat gear bottom (Altis specific) -hoodless dive gear top/combat gear bottom (Tanoa specific) 2. Weapon variants -SPAR 16L (long barrel) with VFG -SPAR 16C (compact) with AFG -SPAR 17S (short barrel) 3. AI improvements -taking and clearing through doorways for OBUA -dismounting Helicopters in different combat modes(stealth,safe,aware,combat) results in different group formation actions 4. Rappelling from Helicopters Again that is just a quick list of things I'm hoping for in the TAC-OPS DLC. I'd love to hear what you guys are thinking. Thoughts?

    Make Tanoa Publicly Available!

    There is a very large issue with the Apex DLC. I agree with all the weapons/vehicles being restricted...though the map is causing a huge issue in the community. The general mass doesn't own Apex. The content creators/players that would like to enjoy playing with the public are restricted to a small crowd. The number of people that try to play King of the Hill on Tanoa and are turned away is staggering. Its now nearly constantly dead because no one wants to play low population KotH. Wasteland on Tanoa is generally dead also for the same reason. I'm working on a Helicopter Training program that will take place on Tanoa....Though once again population will be limited because of the Apex requirement. I really hope BI figures out they divided their community by making this map require a DLC and made those who buy it suffer and those who don't buy it...turned away.

  8. So today after the new jets DLC release i updated the game, then tried to join the server that i'm usually playing and got an error message saying: Anybody know anything because about 60 people are able to join the server after a while.

    Tanks DLC Unofficial Discussion.

    Hello there guys I'd like to start this forum to discuss Arma III's last DLC for the year. I know its still a longs way off, but its never too early to start discussing these things. Well actually Bohemia encouraged us to give feedback and ideas on the their DLC. So here are mine. I'd like to brainstorm or suggest Tanks and APCs or upgrades or fixes to the current Tanks we already have. This is simply just a place to discuss Ideas and I don't except Bohemia would choose all of them or any of them for the matter. Below I will put some of the Tanks I would like to see make their way with the Tank DLC. LET US BEGIN! P.S If this is in the wrong section I apologize Moderators, please move it the correct section. The first Armored Vehicle I would like to see is the AMV-7 Marshall Mortar variation from the Pre-alpha that was never put in the game. It looks really great and I think would be useful when you need mortar support but don't want to use the large long range mortar Tanks. A variation perhaps for all the factions including CSAT and AAF. I would also like to see the AMV-7 and all the Faction APCs get more armor or perhaps add the option to add Reactive armor I feel like the APCs defiantly can be taken down too easily with Grenade launchers which is a main reason why I think APCs don't see a lot of action or seen on the battlefield a lot which kinda sucks when you want to use armor. I personally like the AMV-7 Marshall and wish I could use it more. I also feel like the Wheels on APCs can get shot way too easily so maybe add light plating that covers half of the wheels making them harder too hit. Also if you could perhaps add a 12.7mm machine gun to it, either that or change the description of the tanks armament. Next I'd like to see the American Main Battle Tank, but instead have the M1A3 battle tank the Military is currently developing and working on. There currently no blueprints or pictures of it for obvious reasons so Bohemia could probably use some creativity in how they think it will look in 2035. Here are American APCs that the US Military currently uses that would be cool to add. The M113 Armored Personal Carrier. Stryker LAV-25 Also the M3 Bradly Next up I want to suggest maybe a tank for the CTRG or the British. The M2 Challenger is highly regarded as one of the strongest tanks in the World or was atleast with only one being destroyed by friendly fire (Quite tragic) Now this amazing futuristic tank is real and is currently being developed in Poland as their next main battle tank. Its considered a stealth tank and by far is one of the most futuristic looking tanks we are currently making in the world the PL-01 MBT. It would only be fair to in cooperate a polish tank since ironically they are only one of a few countries who actually pay their 2% to NATO. This gorgeous looking tank I believe I already spotted in the Roadmap Video on YouTube, but if that's not it I'd like to suggest it now. This tank is currently regarded as one of the most powerful tanks in the world and can beat any NATO or US Tank. It also has some of the most advanced weapon systems and counter measures in the world and the inside literary looks like the inside of a Spaceship. The T-14 Armata. The T-15 Armored Troop transport Carrier. The BTR Bumerang The 2S35 Artillery Tank Now moving onto the Chinese or Pacific CSAT Forces. Not much is really known about what new Main Battle Tanks or APCs the Chinese are developing so I'll just add the current ones they have and maybe futuristic versions can be made by Bohemia. Type-99 ZBL-09 Not a lot of new Chinese APCs are being made atleast from what I can find. I'm pretty sure the T-100 actually is already this, so maybe Bohemia is time travelers or has access to super classified intelligence but this is Iran's newest Main battle tank the Karrar just hit the production lines this year. The Type 10 is Japan's newest Main Battle Tank and would possibly be relevant for the Pacific in Tanoa. The Type 87 is Japan's current APC. Germany is currently using the Boxer I believe as their APC of choice, although it has a similar look as the Stryker, but Id thought Id just put it here anyway. The AFF Tank is already based off the Leopard MBT so I won't include it obviously. Next up is Itlay's Ariete Main Battle Tank which I think would be relevant to Altis since Altis is suppose to be near Greece and Italy. On top of that the Greece use the Leonidas IFV APC which would also be relative to Altis That's all the Tanks that I wouldn't mind seeing in the tanks DLC, now I know you won't add every single one of these or any of them on the list and some of tanks currently in the game might already be based off of some of these, but these are just some ideas. Outside of that I wouldn't mind seeing tweaks and balances to the older tanks with a Dynamic Loadout system (Nothing too crazy) Just changing ammunition types or the Machineguns on the Tanks with perhaps different types of Defense systems like the option to have Smokes or the newest Active Protection system that some of these tanks have. The Germans are currently working on a 130mm Cannon, but they don't know how feasible it will be, but this is in 2035. So maybe change out cannons on tanks? Also wouldn't mind having Reactive armor option to add too tanks, but this would make tanks slower and eat up more fuel as a disadvantage if you wanted to keep things balanced, or add harder hitting rounds to penetrate the Reactive armor, or make tanks harder to kill. Heck maybe Reactive armor is already on some of the tanks, doesn't feel like it though. Should be able to add to APCs though. Also maybe add TOW launchers to the APCs to help with dealing with Tanks (Although I know APCs aren't made to fight tanks, but sometimes you run into Tanks). Also possibly add Incendiary rounds for the Tanks Commander Machine gun. These are all the ideas and suggestions I have, if there is something I miss or forgot, be sure to comment your ideas too so we can make Tanks Great Again!

    JETS DLC Wishlist

    Does anyone have a wishlist for the upcoming DLC? Personally I would love to see the return on the F-35, maybe the B VTOL variant but with an internally mounted cannon. In fact, it would be really cool if they brought in a static carrier too, something in the lines of HMS Queen Elizabeth for NATO, and an alternative variant for CSAT. OR, another alternative for CSAT? For ADF I would say the Eurofighter Typhoon but Greece were never involved in the project. Maybe an altered F-16? Here's my take on where, I hope, BI are getting their ideas and influences: They might even decide to blend designs, like a combined F22/F35B or PAK FA/J20. Who knows...
  12. To BI and B01: Will there be a module or modules available which create prepared configurations for the Freedom, with their respective animations? If yes, could they be adjusted, modified, maybe even given the chance of saving our own custom versions? Thanks in advance!   13. Hi, I hope this DLC wiil give us some improvements for the firing system of all Arma aircraft. I have on mind the fact, the CAS support is absolutely inefficient. Jets manned (by player) are focused on maneuverability and radar/targeting acquisition. But, please, keep on mind that full AI jets should be efficient for supporting players. And this way isn't evident till yet. The CAS module is poor, not to say rotten. Players should ORDER a jet firing at any target, or even ground position, regardless of knowledge about enemy or any target or some weird consideration. The Arma engine doesn't have to decide for a player the opportunity to fire or not a bomb on a position. In other words, let the player decide to order a bomb release where he wants, when he wants, against who/what he wants, even on empty places or at sea. Right now, try to order an unguided CAS on any point of Tanoa forest, take 3 coffees,... abort. Frustrating!
  14. So I'm guessing that by now most people have seen the latest devblog by BI. I myself am actually quite excited for the new jets DLC, it looks great. One thing I noticed though when reading the latest blogpost was something written on the side of the new NATO jet, called the Black Wasp II. Here's the image. Right underneath the wing, above the word NAVY, it says "USS Freedom". Now anyone who likes flying aircraft in Arma like myself, probably knows of the the brilliant F/A-18X mod that was originally released by John Spartan and Saul here on the forums, and is now maintained by TeTeT if I'm not mistaken. However before they handed over that project they were talking about working on something "big", and they teased us with an image of a fictional next generation aircraft carrier which they called, you guessed it, the USS Freedom. So I'm sort of putting this together: 1. They stopped working on the F-18X mod which was called the "Black Wasp" and the new NATO jet by BI is called the "Black Wasp II". 2. Before they left they teased us by saying they were hard at work on something "kinda big". 3. Before that they showed interest in making an aircraft carrier for Arma 3 named the "USS Freedom" a name that has now resurfaced on the side of a new DLC jet. 4. In the new devblog video Jay Crowe stated that they have worked with third party developers from B01 studio's. Which suggests to me that Spartan and Saul now actually have their own production company (awesome :D) 5. In the same video you can clearly see there's motion capture work being done for flight deck crew. Now ofcourse I don't want to jump to conclusions, but if you'd ask me John Spartan and Saul have started their own little game company, and were employed by BI to work on the Jets DLC. All if which fantastic, but I'd like to know if there's anyone here that can actually confirm/debunk this.
  15. Hello, i noticed the following post about mods and Steam. I also noticed the big support and engagement of BIS_Wizard, a member of the BI Developer Team. Maybe now it's time to ask for something about Steam / Arma 3, because I think BIS_Wizard is the right man for this! ;) I also checked the Forum first, but I couldn't find an existing post about this problem. Following problem: If I download my Server with the Steam CMD with the following command, %STEAMPATH%\steamcmd.exe +login %STEAMLOGIN% %STEAMPW% +force_install_dir %A3serverPath%\ +"app_update %A3serverBRANCH%" validate +quit and run the Server, you find the Server with a RED Circle in the Server Browser. All official BI Server are also faced with this problem. And yes, I disabled all custom Mods, verified my Steam/Arma3 cache and tried a lot of redownloads of the dedicated Server (logged in as anonymous and I tried it with my private Steam Account too). So I tried to google this issue... A lot of people don't care about this, BUT if your server is RED and not GREEN, less users connect. Of course, you can connect, but it is RED and not GREEN. :huh: I found a dirty workaround, download the Stable Client and then copy the DLC folders (mark, kart, heli, curator) to the Server Folder and overwrite the server files with the client files. Only one stupid thing with this workaround - if you download the client, you need a Steam Account with Arma 3 (ok, that's no problem :D). But steam will also download all subscribed Mods and that are a lot of mods.... So I have three questions: Is it possible to deliver the same files for client/dedicated Server or whitelist the client files for dedicated Servers, so that the Server shows up with a GREEN dot in the Server Browser? Is it possible to disable the automatic mod download for the Client Download over Steam CMD? (You cant change something there right? Because it's Valves thing? But i ask you anyway - maybe it's possible) Should I open a new ticket (feedback.bistudio.com)? If there is an easy solution, please tell me that magic stuff.     2017 roadmap

    Road Map looks like it's straight out of Santas Bag. Great Job. A bit disappointed that there was no Naval DLC. I mean this whole game is a island and mostly surrounded by water on some front if not all fronts. If there was a DLC that could open up endless game play to some degree it would be that one. It would create awesome jump off points or maritime scenarios. This game needs more ships for ship sake!

  19. Hello guys, Can person without any DLCs play a scenario that has objects like buildings, rocks from Apex DLC ? The ERROR that friend gets when he tries to open my mission in editor I'm making a mission that should not be dependant on any DLCs Mission uses several addons (image below) and a lot of Apex objects and clothing, though none on player, my friend has all the mods that are required but doesn't own any DLCs. He's unable launch the scenario, nothing happens when "Play" is pressed. I'm clueless what's wrong, would appreciate some help. Required addons (Map is Bornholm)

  22. In follow up to the Marksmen Community Challenge, this Saturday March 7th starting at 17:00 UTC, we'll be hosting an exclusive First Look Livestream for the upcoming Arma 3 Marksmen DLC. Straight from Bohemia Interactive HQ in Prague, members of the Arma 3 development team will be showcasing the seven new DLC weapons - alongside much anticipated new features, such as Virtual Garage, weapon resting and bipods, the improved simulation of recoil and suppression, and various enhancements to sound. The session is expected to be about one and a half hour, and will be streamed to the official Arma 3 channel on Twitch. P.S.     Arma 3 Apex - content predictions?

    I'm starting this thread to discuss possible content for Arma 3 Apex. Anyone have predictions? Here's mine: To start off, factions. I personally think we'll be seeing USMC forces [BLUFOR] along with Chinese forces [OPFOR], and possibly Australian/CTRG forces [BLUFOR]. Of course, we'll likely see Tanoa's military [Independent] and a guerrilla faction [OPFOR]. Now for vehicles and weapons. It's confirmed that we'll be seeing Light Strike Vehicles and VTOLs, and possibly larger Patrol boats.     DLCs & DLC: gender confusion

    Hello, I perfectly understand then need to promote DLC. I bought helos and Marksmen, and be sure Apex is planned to be. I didn't for Karts, sorry, even if it's a subvention for ICRC. I can help in many other way but this very cheap DLC is immersion breaking. What I would like to underline is, many authors grew in skill and are now able to randomize equipment, arsenal is everywhere now, thanks to 3DEN, and , in my humble opinion, it's a pity to access, or worse spawn Kart equipment in many scenarii.
