  1. My internet is not the best, 7mbps up 0.6 mbps down. Now I normally only have issues when a large file is being downloaded and devices are also on the network. The whole network will crash and I have to reset my router. I’ve played countless games Warthunder, Arma 3, Squad, HLL, etc. They have never caused any stress on my network like Reforger does. Reforger will run fine for about 5-10 minutes. Then my ping will jump up too 999ms. It will either cause a hiccup in my connection and as soon as I quit Reforger my internet comes back and runs fine. Today this happened, while no one else was using my network and I went to play Warthunder afterwards and my ping was 60-70ms. Most of the time it will just crash my whole network and I need to restart my router. I’m doubtful there is a quick fix for this, I just want to know why Reforger utilizes so much of my network and that the devs are working on fixing this. I just want to play the game, I really enjoy it when it works, which is very rare.
  2. Hey, I would like some help in creating a custom unit voice pack (as in adding another language for a unit). I am green at programming in SQF/Arma 3, but I do have coding experience elsewhere. Unfortunately, I am unable to find any guides on how to do this, and the information that does relate to creating a unit voice pack is scattered and not elaborated well. If there is a good samaritan out there who would be willing to take the time out of their day to help me either by DM or by providing me with a list of resources that can help me learn how to do this would be much appreciated. If, however, you don't want to help, that's fine, but don't ridicule me for being new to making Arma 3 mods -- at least I am trying to learn it instead of begging someone to make it for me. Anyways I appreciate you guys (and gals) for taking the time to read this. Thanks
  3. Is there a way to edit Bohemia Interactives default game modes? For example, I wanted to make a Multiplayer Advance and Secure scenario and the already implemented game mode "Warlords" covers a lot of the needed mechanics. The problem is there's a lot of extra mechanics and UI that I don't really need in the scenario and the modules don't give me enough control. I have tried using light mods like MCC but I wanna keep the mission as light as possible even if it means more work on my end. If any one can just give me A TLDR, point me in the right direction, or even tell me if whether or not what I want to do is possible that would save me a lot of time. Thanks.

First, some info for context: 1) I'm a scripting Noob and this is being made because of the noob perspective I hope to out grow but wish to utilize. 2) This forum is filled with incredibly talented and knowledgable people. Keep in mind many people reading these have no education at all in the subject and dont understand your explanations due to a lack of vocabulary. Now that that's out of the way! I've been browsing topics here for awhile and there are many introduction and tutorial threads available. However, as many of you may remember with your first time learning, a lot of vital information falls through the cracks that later become insurmountable obstacles filled with frustration. So I thought I'd provide the mind melting eureka information I got that solved many of my problems and hope you guys will to. Comment information, hints, and links to things most noobs miss or need to know before attempting a script of any kind. Heres mine: - Theres a huge difference between how mission editing and scripting needs to be organized and utilized between SinglePlayer amd MultiPlayer. Read this if you want to know more about multiplayer scripting (https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Multiplayer_Scripting) read this entire page start to finish and navigate hyperlinks to anything that's sus this will explain why you'll see 3 different explanations for the same problem and none of them are working for you because you dont know what a description.ext file is. - Arma3 has undergone updates to its scripting ( or it appears so) some functions you'll see being recommended to you from a youtube video from 2014 may not apply to the version you are using. This applies to the Eden editor and previous editors as well. Usually theres a link to new versions in and explanations to what changed in that functions wiki page. - You have to make your own sqf files. When you launch a mission the game will search for specific files. By naming you file that same title it will load that file in place of. Basically, its asking for butter and a song as you've labeled it butter, its gunna use it like butter. Learn all you sqf file names in the wiki. - If your using Notepad ++ there are plugins. for sqf file type that highlights relevant. variables the way you see everyone else's in videos. - half the battle is speaking the language. So click on every hyperlink presented to you and read it whether it makes sense or not. Sometimes it takes a single page to tie everything together. More experienced people please comment your own below, feel free to criticize anything I've said above, I'm also a noob. I know there is another thread for noobs (I've read it a million times believe me, I just want more posts just like it for the monkey brain level questions I have)
  5. Hello, my name is fortheiy12, and I want to become part of the 'ArmAverse' as you may call it. In the coming days, I will be buying Arma 3, but I haven't really found any good tutorials explaining how to get into Arma 3. I know that most people will tell me to go to the very detailed tutorials, but from basic FPS and Roleplay game experience, I know that single player tutorials can't explain the full scope of multiplayer concepts. I am wondering if anyone has any good recommendations on Multiplayer servers and Video Tutorials. Please feel free to reach out to me! Hi I amn't much of a gamer myself ( not since the days of Crash Bandicoot on the PS1) so please bear with me here :) I'm asking this on behalf of a friend who plays arma regularly and needs a bit of help. He played as part of a squad/ group for a bit over a year, and really enjoyed it, and as he lives alone, talking to the group members via text/ over a mic was his main source of social interaction. A few weeks ago, the squad disbanded and moved elsewhere, leaving my friend on his own . My friend is disappointed and is now stuck without a group to play with, which is the main reason he plays arma- he likes the social benefits of being part of a group and part of a community and he is missing it. How should he go about trying to find or form a new group within the game? And could anyone recommend any similar multiplayer games for him where he could join a new group? Thanks for your help

    Need a sandbox map.

    This game could really use a sandbox type map where people could basically just play consistantly in a event. Kinda like a playground of sorts to finesse their adjustment to the game. The tutorial is great but more interaction with others is a must to fully be prepared for your first event. This being designed as a cutthroat experience i can understand some will balk at this idea but this experience is not just for those who are naturally great at games lime these, the experience is for meant for all. What harm could come from helping others be a better challenge for you vets?
  8. Hey guys, I am new to Arma 3 modding. I was following along with this tutorial today and spent about 8 hours trying to get this "pie" into the game. I went through the tutorial twice to make sure that I followed his steps correctly. At first I got an error that I figured out myself, it was due to incorrect directory listings in the config.cpp file. However after I fixed this the item would still not show up in game when I ran player addItem "big_pie" in the Arma 3 editor. Can anybody please help me with this issue. My main goal is to get familiar with Arma 3 modding so that I can start modding DayZ SA as I was told the process is and will be similar.
  9. Hi everyone just a quick question. Is it possible to add seats to vehicles like the vanilla offroads as an example. If it is possible id appreciate if someone could explain how it's done. On a side note. Iv'e created aircraft mods from scratch(unreleased) before and know seats are done through proxies etc. But just curious if editing already existing ones are possible.
  10. Hi Guys, I am working on a huge Tanoan mission framework project, part of which there is a combat arena which I would like to be part of the 'story' as such. The overall concept is, a singular player walks up to Object, addactions 'Enter Arena', this creates a playable AI unit, the caller becomes the AI unit, once this unit is killed the player returns back to their previous unit. (The reason I am creating an AI unit: I cannot see a way to remove a players gear and then put it into a box or similar, so when they respawn the gear can be retrieved [This gear wouldn't necessarily be a normal load out]). I have been playing around and I think these commands are kind've what I am looking for, could anyone advice below?
