    AI much tougher since update

    I can confirm that I have also noticed the AI seems to have gone to some advanced marksmanship classes.... It almost makes moving under fire, even at distance, from a man with a standard rifle horribly difficult. I haven't noticed their ability to see me improve, but I definitely have noticed that they are FAR more accurate in far fewer shots now.

    @ChuWie: Yep, that is exactly my issue as well. Excellent video btw; it perfectly illustrates the weird issue. I'm not sure how to copy rpt logs like that, but I'm guessing that mine read something similar.

    @SpyderBlack723: I was not on MP, but rather SP. In fact, I noticed it while testing the new sounds out in some of the Showcase missions (like combined arms, armed assault, etc). I made a small skirmish in the editor and it happened there as well. Whenever I get within 5m or so of an AI who is shooting, the volume sharply decreases until I move away again. Interesting to note that you only heard it in MP though.

    @LordJarhead: I looked through the thread and didn't see anyone else mention this, but I did notice something....odd. The sound effects are great, especially the long range to medium range sounds. However, when I get within roughly 5 meters of another shooter, their shots go from being loud to extremely muffled. I have no idea why. If a guy with an MX 6.5mm (or any other weapon system that I get close to) is shooting at something directly in front of him, and I walk towards him, at about 5 meters the sounds gets very very quiet. It is strange and jarring. I can walk a 360 around him and the sound continues to be extremely low. As I walk away, the volume exponentially increases back to normal again. If it helps, I am using the PW6 version. EDIT* By "guy" and "him" I am actually referring to the AI. I understand that MP is a no-go with this version so I wanted to clear any potential confusion :D.

    I personally enjoy using both withsix AND armaholic. When it comes to large mods though, I use withsix simply because it is easier to download updates than to redownload the whole mod. However, armaholic does seem to have a wider selection of hard to find mods. Not to mention, I have been using armaholic for years; since the "old days" of Arma haha. Anyways, glad to hear it is up now. I LOVE the vids, especially the sounds of the distant firefights. God I love this community.

    @LordJarhead: I haven't downloaded the update yet, but I just wanted to give you a heartfelt "THANK YOU". You stuck with us and have no doubt provided another mod that I have come to depend on in order to play Arma 3. I loved all of your work in Arma 2, and you have not disappointed in the slightest. Between this mod and Blastcore it is like a different game. Thanks again, and I can't wait to give this beast a run.
  9. I hope it didn't seem as if I was complaining. I was only wondering how to implement this fix myself- "The issue seems to be in \l_es\scripting\cfgWeapons.h Line 139: class Launcher should be class Launcher: LauncherCore ditto with missilelauncher below it." It seemed to work for the guy who tried it, so I was wondering how I can go about making that change. Either way, I can say this; without your mod on, Arma 3 just doesn't sound right, even with Dragonfyre on. You have created something that makes Arma 10 times better for me- THANK YOU!
  10. @Kerc Kasa (or anyone who knows): I have been having some issues and I found they were caused by enhanced soundscape. I get similar error messages about launchers, etc, and have noticed in missions such as Antistasi Altis, troops that should have anti-tank launchers do not have them. Plus, I can't open the editor if I place troops with launchers while L_ES is running. This all started for me after the last Arma 3 update and new CBA update. I'm thinking your fix might help me solve that so I can use enhanced soundscape again. However, I have no idea where to make that fix. Could you please instruct me (if it isn't asking too much) to find the config, and to add that line to it? I have looked in every folder I can think of and can't find a weapons config. Thanks in advance to any who reply! *Edit- I don't know if it matters, but with L_ES running, I get error messages as soon as Arma 3 comes on, and in each mission I try playing.

    @Lord Jarhead: Awesome! I can't wait for the next Dragonfyre update. You have truly made Arma into something amazing for me. Also, as far as these naysayers go, who nitpick the sound as "unrealistic", etc... I just wanted to tell you that I'm a two deployment Infantryman in the US Army, and while the sounds aren't "life-like", they are 10,000,000 times better than stock Arma 3. I would rather have Hollywood sound effects than the dull, dry sounds that come packaged into the game. You, Sir, have my thanks. Have fun on your trip and if you come back remembering everything about it, you didn't get drunk enough.

    @Lord Jarhead (or anyone who knows): Just to be clear, you are not dropping Dragonfyre in favor of the Lite version correct? As I understand it, you are holding off on updating it until the Marksman DLC arrives (and the sound updates from BI stop). I know it should be obvious, but I just wanted to ask. Thanks for any replies.
  13. Yeah, for Arma 3 I'm thinking I will take everyone's advice and move it to my current SSD. But I still need a new HDD, and a 4tb one is what I'm going for. That's why I was asking about the WD Black, or any other HDD that is pretty highly praised by fellow gamers.

  15. @SandyBandy: I actually have my operating system installed on a 256GB Samsung 850 Pro; everything else is on the Barracuda. @Defunkt: Could I put the addons folder itself on my SSD instead of a Ramdrive? @the rest: As mentioned to SandyBandy, I do have an SSD but I was hoping to only keep system files on it. I suppose, though, that I could install Arma 3 on there. It certainly has the space. Still though, do you guys think the WD Black I posted is any good for gaming? Or do you guys recommend anything else just in general (my current HDD is beginning to make the typical noises that say "I'm 3 years old and it's showing. Might want to buy a new me" lol.
  16. Hey guys, I hope this is an ok spot for this question: I have recently been thinking about getting a new HDD. My current one is a Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" HDD. (I know, not the greatest). As far as the rest of my system goes, I have: Nvidia GTX690 i7 3960x 16gb Corsair Vengeance RAM EDIT- I also have a 256GB Samsung 850 Pro that I keep my Operating System files on. EDIT- I still have a 120GB Intel SSD, but I do not currently have it installed in my PC (I'm thinking about installing it and putting Arma on it) Considering the rest of my system, I have always wondered why I have such sever "texture pop" in Arma 3 (such as vehicles, buildings, and tires taking their sweet time to load the full texture when introduced into a scene), and I recently read that it could be slow due to my HDD; as well as how Arma 3 is trying to pull textures from it. So, I was hoping you guys could point me in the direction of a good 4tb HDD that can handle the strain of Arma 3. My price range is $200ish USD. I have been looking at this one: The Western Digital Black http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236622 Any advice? Thanks in advance EDIT- Now that I have an idea of where to put Arma 3, I STILL would like everyone's opinion on a really good 4TB HDD and am still wondering what you guys think of the WD Black Fzex?

    My Lord Jarhead, Dude, thanks for bringing Arma 3 to life. Sound is an amazing immersion maker. Your dedication to this aspect of the arma series is unbelievable. Thanks for all the hard work.

    SpanishSurfer: Hey, two more things. 1. Does Benny have any plans to ever come back to his warfare mode in Arma 3? Any idea why or why not? (More out of curiosity since Benny Warfare has been something I've loved for years and I feel like a kid when they learn there's no Santa). and 2. Your BECTI mode looks AMAZING! I love the idea of the lattice map. I imagine that provides far more direction for both players and AI. Is it based on the .96 or .97 version of BECTI? Also, glad to hear that you guys will be changing the way in which towns are captured. You obviously know what you are doing, so I trust things will be fine for the future of warfare lol. Are you and Zerty working on it together? Edit: I will be sure to stop by your server.

    Hi all, I was just wondering two things: 1. Is Benny still working on this? 2. As much as I enjoy BECTI .97, I really do miss the days of Benny Warfare 2.067 - 2.071 for Arma 2. Is there a version of Benny Warfare for Arma 3 instead of only BECTI? Like I said, BECTI is great, but I would love to have the breadth of options that we used to, and the tons of possible parameters. Sorry if this has been asked about/begged for already.
