With TrackIR i can calibrate and zero out the FOV by actually putting my head closer to TrackIR camera,zeroing (F12), then go back to my natural head position and its right where I need it. So because of this TrackIR "thing" im not sure I can give accurate feedback

naw im not going to make a video for this but I did test out Greenfists mod. I like it with one little exception. It may not be the mod i don't know but I like the fixed horizon settings. The problem I am having,and its not much of a problem, but it seems zoomed in to much in 3rd person. That could be my TrackIr also. I can fix this problem by sitting back from the TrackIr camera. Thing is though when I do this it feels very un-natural. I have my joystick and throttle controllers on either side of me on my desk. Leaning back to zoom out with hands on controllers does not feel natural. (this is why I didn't make a video. Picture this: place your hands on desk like you are using your mouse. While doing that move head back away from computer monitor. This is the un-natural feeling I am referring to) in respect to the controls If the setting of the FOV could be set initially zoomed out a bit (just a tad) from the on-start I feel this mod would be perfect. Has BI opened up the config settings for the camera to change FOV? But like I said it may be my setting not the mod. Can somebody else test it out also before we ask Greenfist to make any changes? Just having the camera fixed to horizon is good for me. The FOV thing I can work around by re-calibrating my TrackIR. I would call this mod a success.

I just saw your youtube vid on steamworkshop. It looks correct check it out when I get home 9 hrs from now :( Im curious to see it during a fast insertion in a little bird during landing

so has anybody had a chance to test it? Is the fov correct and everything?

I tried it and came to the conclusion you are 100% correct :P Sorry i couldn't resist we could use some humor in this thread :P

yeah I forgot you are a professional you have a TrackIR. EDIT: So what you are saying is that I am a liar and everything I have said is untrue? So there is no issues with the camera? And it is fake outrage? Is that correct? So only your point of view is the correct view right? And all of us here are faking outrage correct?

well so far all you have done in this whole entire thread is to take a condescending attitude to those of us that ARE having problems and have shown your true colors and maturity with that last post of yours.

@teabagginpeople is there a reason you are following this thread? You obviously don't have any issues with the camera. Are you just here to troll?

The obvious solution would be to revert back to 1.68 camera,break the jets,then fix the jets since the update was about JETS! But nope BI decided to instead to work around the heli problem then double down,then triple down on on fixing the helicopters instead of going back to the source of the problem which was the jets update and appeasing the jet users. Which btw most jets users that I talk to on my server say the blackfish among other things are all screwed up and they are unhappy with the changes.

Well yes! Like @PistFlyBoy said We fly em we don't script them. So yeah THIS WAS dumped in our lap "You want the camera fixed? Write a mod and fix it yourself!" What kind of crap is that? We aren't the developers you guys are. And the config options are there so why hasn't there been a 1.68 like hotfix released yet? I shouldn't have to run a mod to get a correct camera. My server doesn't allow us to run just any mods. So what I have to go find another server also? Let me guess "ask the admins to allow the mod right?" All these problems because you guys wont fix the problem correctly EDIT: so what are the correct settings for the camera to make it like 1.68? Have you guys tested that yet?

I Totally agree 100% with this statement remove the FOV change. (Not using any mods) EDIT: with the complaints by some about motion sickness is it possible its to realistic? BI has some braggin rights now :P "Our helicopter's were so realistic we had to turn down the "realistic" settings"

the 1.68 version of camera is "Built in" into the arma engine. I'm under the impression they have now made the camera configurable in 1.7 whereas it wasn't before. In other words you cant pull from 1.68 settings. But make your own new ones from 1.7

OK you are right I am letting this get to me. I am a mechanic IRL. I was hired by my company to fix "Stuff". Now if I was working on a perfectly good running piece of equipment doing maintenance and I broke it and then told my boss "Well I tried,its almost 5:00 and time to go home. Here! You fix it. Let me know how that works out for you. Bye!" How long do you think I would have a job? Now don't miss understand me here the point of this is not to say those devs should not have a job. Not at all. What I am pointing out is simple "If you break it, Fix it!" Don't put duct tape on it and send it on its way so that others have to deal with the problem later on down the road. Start the engine,check the oil,kick the tires,make sure its good to go before it leaves. Instead they put duct tape on it and said "it has duct tape on it but here we will give you this knife if you want to cut the tape off and fix it yourself !" Thats my point! BTW hello Texas

yeah but we shouldn't have to run a mod in order to get a correct heli camera. Do that to the jets. There are servers that whitelist/blacklist mods. This is good for testing purposes but not as a permanent solution. The "if you want it fixed,fix it yourself!" attitude I don't think solves the problem especially when it was the jets update that caused all of this and not the heli's. I'll say it again....revert camera to 1.68 breaking the jets,then fix the jets leaving the heli's untouched. I don't understand why this is so hard and I really don't understand why its up to us to come up with a solution we're not the ones on BI's payroll. The solution is "REVERT" then its up to the devs to fix the jets as it should be.

I don't mind either to begin testing and tweaking if somebody can explain the parameters a little. But I was under the impression the camera had to be changed in the engine coding itself according to @oukej earlier in the thread and we dont have access to that. So do we have access to the camera now? And if so where do we find info on all the scripting/code related stuff?

So what are we supposed to do with that link/thread? Why are WE posting changes/findings? Isn't that BI's job to test and fix? When can we expect a fix to the camera? You mentioned nothing about any progress being made to correct the camera problem or a possible hotfix release time.

Well Im stupid. It is possible to taxi with helicopters you just have to be in advanced flight to do it. Why cant this be added to standard?

I hope you dont take offense to my remarks. Im not mad. Im not blaming you. Im just trying to understand the problem. But what are the chances we get another hotfix for the helis? They are already working on the malden terrain which if I understand it correctly is part of another separate dlc. @oukej why cant they just put it like it was in 1.68? Then just add camera code for the jets only? Why are they messing with the helis and putting code on top of code to fix the problem in order to save breaking jets? Revert camera code to 1.68 and break the jets. THEN fix the jets. All this camera stuff was for the jets in the first place right? Why cant they just make it simple and only add camera code to the jets leaving the heli camera untouched? I dont understand why they working around the problem. The focus is the jets so why are they adding/removing code for the helis? I think the way they approached it was flawed from the start IMO

It don't bother me to much. But I do agree putting it back to what it was in 1.68 would make everybody happy and problem solved. IMO adding stuff for the helicopter is the wrong approach. Go back to the beginning by Putting the camera back to where it was before and adding changes to the camera that only effects the JETS ONLY. Put the coding flags on the jets not the helicopters. Just my opinion. Do it right this time guys no half-ass "quick hacks" to appease us. Go back and code it the right way. We are watching you! lol

I just tested it. IMO the camera works like it did in 1.68 (before jets DLC). I don't see any issues with it. I can live with it. I am only speaking for myself though. For those having issues with it are you sure you updated your ARMA?

@oukej Any news on this? Any chance they can put the helicopter 3rd person camera to what it was before the jets update? I havent tried it yet. But people are saying its still not right they just want it back to what it was before. Can you pass the word?
