    Global Mobilization

At first I was upset at the lack of a larch but now I'm just happy to see an Iltis! Great mod guys!
  2. I have a small dedicated server for a small coop community, and yes we do play with some of those evil unsupported mods that really should be stricken from the Earth by now. After the nexus patch, every single non-Altis mission will have any joining players become inexorably stuck on the MP loading screen with the second phase of the loading bar around eighty percent, even if the mission consists solely of a vanilla NATO man standing about in the middle of a field and nothing more. Sometimes, rarely, the briefing map will flash an instant, and then the game will return to the loading screen, but if one is quick in hitting enter at the briefing map, the game will return to the loading screen with the addition of sound. Then, and only then, if any sort of dialog comes up, say, the old Virtual Ammobox, or an error message, the player is put into this mercurial game and any other players can join the server without issue. I've seen that players of Wasteland are having this issue, and apparently have a Wasteland specific fix, but the purpose of this post is to inquire if other players, playing nothing than a single NATO rifleman on All in ArmA's Takistan (or Chernarus, or Kunduz, or Duala, or Panthera.....), are also experiencing this. .rpt files show absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. Thank you. God save the game.
  3. Hello. I am currently developing a sector control mission on Shapur using the standard BIS modules and set up. I have a Spawn AI module and a Spawn AI sector tactic module synced together, along with the rest of a typical sector control set up, and it works quite well for my purposes, with CSAT. Of course however I would like to replace CSAT. Currently the Spawn AI module (for some very silly reason) does not support spawning custom factions, so I was wondering what information the community has to suggest about this, as far as either overwriting CSAT groups, or alternative AI spawning methods that provide essential functions for sector control - respawn at multiple varying locations, ticket bleed, force weighting, etc. Thank you.

    [WIP] Project Kiowa (OH-58D/F)

Congratulations on entering your senior year! I hope it all goes well, we understand (and hope you agree) that finals are more important than mods. Good luck! P.S. It's a beauty as is.

    [WIP] Project Kiowa (OH-58D/F)

FINALLY! Spent a lot of my time wrenching on an ex Vietnam OH-58A. Shame that it's always playing second fiddle to the Hughes 500!
  6. Excellent work, a lovely surprise indeed!

    PRACS: SLA Faction 2017

What I meant is that whatever you give to us will be an incredibly unique gift if, when playing it, one hears on the radio...."Man....this reminds of that one mission in (insert historic arma landmark)....I was going around a corner and this slag...." I don't mean it as a request, what I am saying is that this mod will be perfect simply for capturing the feeling of the SLA, regardless of what the specific assets are. Take how you feel about this mod and run with it, we will only love for you it.

I need a mod that crashes 100% of the time

The original FFIS will do it too, provided you're playing ArmA 3 version 1.3 or higher. Firefight Improvement System. It's a shame because my community absolutely loved it. Note that this game crashing and difficulty configuring mods are the primary reasons for newcomers losing interest or will to play.
  10. So you intend to leave the instrument panel 'as is' for the near future?
  11. It seems like you've replaced the glass on the 205 as well, looks good. Do you plan on replacing the cockpit with that from TOH?
  12. Is that a Cobra I spy in the background of the first picture?
  13. Have you got Stress Damage enabled in the AFM and if so would you mind testing it with it disabled?
  14. Absolutely mate, I hope you don't feel pressured or anything. It's still an excellent job, just bear in mind that nothing game related turns out perfect until many people have tested it. It's all in a constructive spirit.
  15. Haven't got to say much more than that. In flight, the helicopter is suspended like a pendulum from the rotor system, so even if the thrust from the tail rotor were applied through the aircraft's center of gravity, which it isn't, you wouldn't see a level airframe with the rotor tilted toward the direction of torque, but instead a level rotor and the airframe tilted. You can see this when a Blackhawk takes off, though my understanding is that's nothing to do with the tail rotor but instead a weight and balance issue with that aircraft's transmission. Edit: You can actually see it even better in the related video of a RAF 412 delivering a football. There is a second when the camera is nearly level with the rotor disc as the 412 hovers down. Good theory of yours, but not backed much by the physics or evidence as far as I'm aware. A good experiment to demonstrate is to balance the midpoint of a pen on your index finger, perpendicular to the length of your finger. Push the back of it. You can discount the negligible contact friction between the CG of the pen and your finger since in reality there's air drag applying a similar, albeit much greater force. Also also, if your theory was true, then the rotor would tilt the opposite direction in the hover. Most American rotor systems rotate anticlockwise, thus having a clockwise torque tendency, and requiring an anticlockwise tail rotor input. So in this hypothetical circumstance, the tail rotor would be pulling the airframe to the right, and having the rotor tilting to the right would only exacerbate that problem. But again, irrelevant since the tail rotor's thrust output is not translational in any significant form, only rotational.
  16. Very glad to see a public release for this. I greatly appreciate that someone with the requisite skill has taken up the momentous task of giving to ArmA 3 the one airplane which very much so defined modern combat aviation, probably more so than any other. In this initial release, the diversity of types is astounding, which is excellent. There are some suggestions I must make however, please take these not as complaints, but rather my personal opinions regarding how to best translate this aircraft into the digital world. These observations were all made in standard, non-AFM flying. In a hover, the rotor disk isn't neutral; it leans to the aircraft's right. http://i.imgur.com/PuwwYtS.jpg The default third person perspective could benefit from some tweaking. http://i.imgur.com/FhLres7.jpg The right side minigun points left initially, although this does not impact functionality. http://i.imgur.com/ALbNzBr.jpg I also personally feel the standard flight model could use some development, as currently this aircraft is considerably more agile than any vanilla helicopter, including the M900, which is rather nonsensical for an airplane with a maximum take off weight over five tonnes. For instance, you can pull the nose from a level position to ninety degrees upright in less than two seconds. Consider that the M900 has a maximum take off weight of one tonne. The M900 has also a more agile rotorhead than Bell's four bladed system. Another recommendation I hope you will consider is to eventually redo the plexiglas on this aircraft. This old ported windscreen has.been a glaring sore on these ports for a while. I really anticipate seeing where this mod will go. Certainly, this is an excellent first leap. Thank you for your efforts.

    [MELB] Mission Enhanced Little Bird

Ah terribly sorry mate, I saw "IR, White, Green, Red, etc?" and thought you meant IR, white visible light, green visible, etc....which frankly seemed more than a little daft, given the scenario. I agree, this would be a nice addition, although I personally might prefer just dropping a strobe instead of using up fourteen pounds of rocket motor for something that easily fits in your pocket. Especially when you have an MTOW of ~3100lbs.

    [MELB] Mission Enhanced Little Bird

I understand their utility in peacetime, but to me it seems foolish to sacrifice much of the advantage that made Nightstalker operations viable initially. Obviously this is at the behest of the artists working this mod. More importantly, I think, than real life application, is the fact that ArmA NVGs are horrible and will make such an addition of dubious advantage. In my experience with the game, if there's a flare up, you are better off without NVGs. I am assuming we are discussing parachuting type flares, which are the only I've seen in the warhead listing for the Hydra 70.

    [MELB] Mission Enhanced Little Bird

Why, on a dark moonless night, would any pilot in a hostile fire combat scenario forego NVGs, infrared, laser, GPS, and ground based IR locating systems, for a supposed tactical advantage that renders useless the only real protection such a small and thin little airframe has? Certainly, in ArmA, given the adaptive nature of NVGs, doing such a thing will be an excellent tactical advantage for the enemy as anyone with NVG on looking at the area is instantly blinded.

1stBN/160th SOAR Mod ArmA III WIP

    Absolutely astonishing progress. Beautiful bird.
  21. Glad to see static weapons getting some more loving. Is it possible to define which types of static weapons will be placed?
  22. Sounds like you're looking for unitCapture and unitPlay regarding the formations - no matter what the author is capable of, ArmA is never going to give you that kind of cinematic precision simply from waypoints or some other relatively generic means. You can mess with flyInHeight and speeds in the waypoints, however unitCapture seems like your panacea. About the trim: from a realism standpoint, if you take your hands off the cyclic on a teetering rotorhead helicopter not equipped with at least a two axis autopilot, your life expectancy decreases roughly as an inverse square proportion to time. You've mentioned the "Sling Load DLC;" I reckon you mean the helicopters pack. I have not purchased this pack, but Sling Load works fine for me, I believe in keeping with Bohemia's philosophy of releasing features (eg weapon resting from the Marksmen DLC) for free and content (the fancy rifles) as paid. No worries here, I think, but a valid concern for me as well. Have you heard of "DCS Huey?" Right up your alley ostensibly.
  23. Great to see someone picking up the work of representing Bell's Huey ever since GrumpyRhino very sadly went MIA. If you're not familiar, GrumpyRhino was in the process of porting and upgrading the same model - here is the thread: https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/184398-medium-utility-helicopters/#comment-2907081 I'm excited to see how this progresses. I have quite a passion for the airframe. I assisted GR with some minor stuff (a texture, some weapons configs) and if you require those skills, I may be able to lend some time. I am not sure what degree of accuracy you plan to hold for the aircraft, but if you are interested in displaying a true-to-life representation, you probably know that Bohemia's model has some creative license taken. GR corrected this by, as far as I can tell, borrowing the tail boom, rotor mast and blades, engine and transmission cowling, nose, and other elements from Bohemia's broadly licensed UH-1H from ArmA 2. A similar option may save you some time, albeit risking some quality. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you think I can be of help. I work on the Huey's little brother every day and I consider myself very knowledge about both aircraft.
