I hope the bright minds on here come up with some viable alternative to GameSpy. It would be a shame if they wouldn't, considering the influx of new and old players due to BI's recent move of making Cold War Assault free for the time being. :p

It's certainly possible to make a RTS out of OFP: And you also have addons that would be well-suited for it such as the Starship Troopers units, WH40K units, BattleStar Galactica units, ect. The question is just if you're willing to make it. :p

A way to get temporarily rid of the spam bot is to set an "auto restart" feature to the server. Although I don't like this option too much because it can ruin game seasons. :p An effective way to get rid of it completely would be banning the name of the spam bot, if that's possible.

A little off-topic but could you tell me how you disabled the ammo counter? I would like to have a similar ammo counter myself, that is without the information about the amount of ammo and magazines. Nice mod btw, very realistic. But I would suggest disabling the possibility to switch positions in vehicles and disable the ammo info and secondary view, for greater realism. :p

According to their website, they're still developing it. No words on a new version release date or an English translation though.

Hey, I'm not a Arma 3 player (only played Arma 1 & 2 Free :p ) but I like your ideas TC. The South Asian Pacific is a lovely setting and a possible conflict zone too. But I think it's more Arma 4 material because those are some huge islands to squeeze into a game (if people already complain on Arma 3 performance, how would they react to so huge islands? :p ) and a lot of work to model properly. Here's my ideas: - Nordic island complete with winter themes and weather. Winter themes were ignored by BIS or left to the community since OFP, but now with this new winter technology on the upgraded RV engine they have an excuse to make it. They could probably take a trip there in real-life too or perhaps even collaborate with the guys from FDF mod. - Jungle theme. Similar to winter themes, the jungle theme was also neglected by BIS but done by the community. Ideally, it could feature a Nam conflict setting but perhaps the guys from Iron Front would be interested in doing something in this direction. The issue could be high requirements and AI troubles. - Urban theme with a large, modern city. This theme was already attempted in OFP but never saw a good Arma implementation. Most modern conflicts take place in dense urban areas so it's a realistic setting too. It would trully task the RV engine, AI, physics engine and hardware so maybe it's a bit too optimistic to think in this direction but maps like Zargabad from OA and Seattle from Take on Helicopters (which is also a RV powered title) cast a ray of hope. But realistically speaking, they'll probably make another Mediterranean island or simply add new content for their existing islands.

It's possible, some Russian guys did it. Here are some videos: Porting islands would probably require to re-model and downsize them though. But don't ask me on the matter. :p

Well let's hope the guys behind OFP Monitor/OFP Watch come up with something new and non-GameSpy dependant then. Just don't ask me to do it. :p

Late reply but Z-Day was already mentioned/posted on the forum. It uses the "Multiplayer Saving System" so it's the closest to Day-Z in OFP. Too bad you're not making a port of Dark Forces II to OFP instead. :p j/k, the mod looks great. Very interested to see how in-door environments and alien worlds will work in OFP.

Nogville without addons, Nogova Crimes with addons. Both are MP only though. OFP AI is too dumb for a SP GTA-like mission/campaign (+ massive slowdown) but if you still want to see how it would look like you can download the "Vice City Mini-Mod" (Google for it - I can't paste links yet). Your best bet is to simply port Nogville or Nogova Crimes missions over to other islands (preferably those with cool cities, e.g. Star Light Island, New Ocean Island, Casurina Island, Polska Island, ect.) and edit the layout or add more stuff. This is what I have done but you may have issues finding players and getting the missing addons error if you use addons.

+1 for Star Wars mod. I have all these Star Wars and sci-fi addons yet noone makes anything with them... :p

OFP Monitor should work given it worked when GameSpy main server was down. If not there's also "OFP Statistics Server" and direct connect.
