    ADF Uncut

Awesome. So, am I correct in assuming you will use John Spartan and Saul's FA18F? And will you also be utilising the service menu for the F-35, and possibly even the Tiger ARH? Really good to see this mod is still alive, I've always been disappointed at the lack of Australian content in the Arma series on a whole. Every week there's a new US or Russia mod, or replacement/recolouring mods. Good to see that you have taken this on.

    ADF Uncut

Sorry for bumping this thread, but are there any plans to put Eurocopter Tigers in? Aussies need to have their firepower too, we can't just let NATO dominate.
  3. Spartan Is are not the Spartans you see in 300; they are the Project Orion - literally. I always envisioned the MAKO drone as a small, VTOL drone with two missiles hanging off the side. You know, with a big eye/FLIR/TV/whatever camera at the front. In actual fact, this looks really close to what I imagined it as.
  4. Well-done, sounds like something you'd see in VBS4, not in Arma 3 as the result of one person!
  5. What new weapon systems will you be using? Will you be re-using any vanilla Arma 3 AA missiles, or will you be adding completely new ones?
  6. Holy hell, that's an amazing uniform! Looks like something straight out of Halo Reach.

    F/A-18X Black Wasp

Do you have any plans to add a two-seater variant, with a TGP, or will you just stay with the single-seater?
  8. You should try it with an SDV at 10,000m above the sea. It's fun ;)

    Aircraft Stealth

While I believe that cockpit interaction is not very important, and will never come into Arma anyway, the other two will greatly enhance air combat. Sub-pixel rendering will allow air units to engage ground targets (Infantry, which is what this game focuses on) with much greater efficiency, and the improved countermeasures will allow for ground units to take down air vehicles easier. (Due to improved simulation of surface to air missiles.) Now, will it be easy? No, I doubt it. Is it achievable? Yes. Sub-pixel rendering is a simple matter of porting the code over, and fine-tuning it to Arma 3, which may not be much, considering RV4 is used in VBS3 and A3. Improved countermeasures will be the harder of the two, but even then, it is a worthy use of time. I'm sure if BIS is willing to add highly detailed helicopter mechanics as a free DLC, they would be willing to add in sub-pixel rendering and improved countermeasures.

    Aircraft Stealth

-Sub Pixel rendering is in VBS3, which is RV4, which is what Arma 3 uses. -Cockpit interaction has been achieved by a single modder, who wasn't getting paid to do it. -Mando Missile Mod had improved countermeasures again, by a single modder, who wasn't getting paid to do it.

    F/A-18X Black Wasp

This mod is a winner - it looks bloody gorgeous. Two questions - will you be including your service menu, for this and every other jet, and will you also be including the GPS/INS firing system?
  13. That's a winner. Right there. The Advanced Super Hornet (which this practically is) is probably one of the most exciting aircraft I've seen for a while, it looks absolutely badass.
  14. 2 possible helicopters (perhaps 3 including AAF) is rubbish, if we get a DLC, you would expect it to be somewhat larger.

Arma 3: Community wishes & ideas- DISCUSSION

Future implementation of Stratis into the main Altis map, perhaps 20 or so kilometres to the South-West. Then, we can grizzle about transport planes. But seriously, everyone has said it before, but I'll just say it again - adding Stratis below Altis will allow for HUGE gamemodes, and HUGE possibilities in the air and at sea. Want to invade Altis from Stratis? Well, that's very good, but unless you want to spend 10 minutes ferrying a squad to the coast, you need to capture an airstrip and land your transport planes there. Same with Stratis - a small force could hold off invasion from Altis easily. You have very little coastline, entrenched and numerous camps and bases, and one airstrip. Two anti-aircraft guns could cover a large portion of Stratis' coast. Thus, you would a) need to get a naval invasion force, or b) eliminate the two guns, either by subterfuge, i.e. taking an SDV to Stratis, or by aerial attack, which opens up a whole new dimension of air combat.
  16. brings back memories of apocalypse now...
  17. I've had various issues with rolling back to 3.0.11, but the main issue is the ACRE plugins coming up in red and not allowing me to select them. :( I can live without it for some time, but not forever!

Arma 3 IS NOT "Military Simulator" genre

Water's green. On the OP, it simply does not matter what it's called, its what's on the inside that counts. And how people use it. Generic Arma 3 is very arcadey, but add in a bit of ACRE, a decent medical system, some unit packs, bam, you've got yourself a somewhat decent military simulator.

    F35 coming soon or ?

Yeah, there's a little rule in the company handbook, it says that there can only be a 5% difference between any two comparable weapons systems in aesthetics and performance. That little golden rule of Arma 3, always make two of everything, just slap on a new piece of sh*t camouflage pattern and you're done.

Is Arma 3 a reasonable replacement for Arma 2?

Arma 3 wins hands down in engine, graphics and most features, however it still has that godawful problem of zero inertia to fix. It also has to add weapons collision with buildings, either simply blocking your movement or dynamically lowering the weapon, as in Ground Branch by Blackfoot Studios. I mean seriously, breach and clear with an M320? How is that still possible? And I should not be able to do a 180-no scope with a lynx or an M320, that is plain stupid and whoever decided that simply removing any detrimental effect on the movement/rotation of the player to fix Arma 2's mouse acceleration is an idiot. Sure, Arma 2 was annoying in the way it handled your weapon movement, but it was a butt ton more realistic than this. This game is also too balanced. Every MRAP, IFV, SPG, MLRS, Tank is the same, just with different armor strength which is not an acceptable substitute for variety. Heck, even the Katiba and MX feel EXACTLY the same. In Arma 2, you had massive technological differences, but neither side was grossly overpowered. When the Tunguska was discovered for Russia, it was the be all and end all - few, if any pilots could escape it's SAM, meaning that BLUFOR had extremely limited strike and support capability. Therefore, BLUFOR needs to respond by sending in its stronger tanks an aircraft - The Venom, Viper and for a short time the Apache allowed you to have ground based dominance. The game was inherently unbalanced, as is life, and here the best gameplay experiences came, when you were an underpowered Russia holding against BLUFOR.
  21. Badass! Are we gonna see the 'classic' and Super Hornet in the US Forces mod, as well?
  22. Hi, I was wondering how I can edit a vanilla multiplayer mission, specifically "Superpowers" or "When Diplomacy Fails". I've found the mission PBOs, but I don't know where to go from there. Thanks.
