  1. Hi All, thank god my Mad Catz Rat9 mouse finally broke down so now I can get a new one. Since there are so many different manufacturers for mice these of which I had never had the chance to try one I would like to know if someone can recommend a mouse that works particular well with ArmA since that is the game I play most at the moment and that has tons of key binds. Of course I have some preferences: -should have enough buttons to map anything weapon/gun related to the mouse -stable drivers and software to customise buttons -must be wireless -suitable for BIG hands (seriously, I have hands like the incredible hulk) -ergonomic design for long sessions would be nice -DPI is not very important (maximum DPI I used so far was 2,000) -LED and bling is not important -build quality is important but price should not be more than 150 AUD. Very interested in your recommendations. Cheers, k

Which mouse do you recommend for ArmA

I got it for 200AUD which is roughly 145USD. It comes with its own case with foam cutouts and different button shapes you can install. So far I'm very happy with it. The software is very easy to use and you can program everything you want. A big plus in my opinion is that the software emulates a joystick with 32 buttons. This is great because that means you don't need to assign keyboard buttons to the mouse. You assign these joystick buttons to the mouse buttons. In ArmA control configuration you then click the mouse button and it registers the joystick button. In the past I had the problem that the all the buttons on the keyboard were already assigned and I needed more buttons or assign multiple commands on one button which can lead to problems and is hard to remember. Not anymore. If you have questions about the mouse let me know.

You can select the Army paint scheme by double clicking the object in 3den and then under the section "Object specific" at the very bottom.

Lack of good usermade SP content

Some very good SP content I play often are the campaigns and missions from Undeceived, WWThomahawkWW, AlphaDog, AZcoder, RobJ, Mynock and Lato. The official BIS missions and campaigns I find rather boring and diappointing.

Which mouse do you recommend for ArmA

Thanks for all your input, guys. I was able to get a Swiftpoint Z for a very fair price. So far I am very impressed what this little rodent can do. What makes it stand out are the pressure sensitive buttons and the built-in gyroscope. The pressure sensitive buttons make the mouse very intuitive to use. I mapped thing like right click for the scope but if you click a bit harder it also holds breath and lowers the DPI. I mapped the single left click to do nothing and press left click a little bit harder to shoot. This eliminates accidental firing and I can still rest my index finger on the left mouse button. Same with grenades. 2 other buttons are mapped for stance up and down. Pressing them harder triggers prone and crouch stance. On some videos and reviews you can see people using the gyroscope for leaning but this does not work very well for me instead you can use the gyroscope to map more buttons. So all the weapon functions like laser on/off, rest weapon etc. are accessable by quickly lifting the mouse and press a button. There is tons of other stuff I could map and it is super easy to do and to remember. If anyone is looking for a good mouse expecially for ArmA (10 Million key binds necessary) try the Swiftpoint Z.

I have a question regarding the countermeasures. Can you actually prevent a lockon from a heat seeking missile by constantly dropping flares or do flares only work after you have been locked on to shake the missile?
  8. When you use this mod in the editor on the VR map with soldiers in VR suits it is just like playing "Frozen Synapse" in ArmA. Yea!

Is there a way to open and close the cockpit doors of helicopters via a trigger/script etc? Some helicopters you have certain options in the ArmA menu to open and close doors. I would like to do that with the cockpit doors as well. Maybe via an addaction command...

Love the new version! Thanks bunches, guys!
  11. Tested the new version. The RPM is not spinning anymore. With most helos the percentage scale is more usable though. As a thought would it be possible to press a button and the RPM switches to percentage scale? Same with airspeed scale and vertical speed scale. If there woud be a button that changes the the airspeed scale to something like max 350km/h and the vertical speed scale to 100 feet per min. that would be better for helicopte

Costs up to 1,012 AUD. A ripper deal!
  13. Yes. You run the app on a second Windows Pc that is in the same network and change "localhost" into the IP address of your PC that runs ArmA and the server executable.

Which mouse do you recommend for ArmA

Thanks for the input. Let's see if I can get one of these in Oz.
  15. No problem with the installation. I ran the app from a Windows tablet and got no issue connecting via neywork to my computer running ArmA and your mod. I fly only helicopters so I don't know how much you can do with my feedback. Gauges like the airspeed and vertical speed scale are not suitable for chopper (they fly too slow, fly up and down too slow). The RPM gauge spins like crazy in the M-48 Kajman. The rest of the gauges seem to work just fine.
  16. no probs. Really looking forward to try this mod. Do you have an option built in to change the instruments between metric and imperial units?
  17. An accelerometer for helicopters would be neat. The ngauge that tells you in which direction you are moving momentarily. If you fly with Advanced Flight model and activate the HUD instruments it is the second one from the right hand side (the cross with the dot). Quite important for hovering.
  18. Your system seems to be a lot more fluid than the vanilla movement system. Very exciting. would it be possible to add stance changes as well? So you control the movement speed with the mousewheel and the stance with (for example) shift + mousewheel?
  19. I did but according to Reyhard a lot of these behaviours is intentional. Like the AI gunners view limitations, or the "next vehicle" behaviour is tied to the way RHS SACLOS missiles work etc. Don't get me wrong. I think RHS and CUP are both great mods that add so much more to ArmA but they have a huge scope from clothing, arms, vehicles, etc. and I understand they can't tweak the models to an individuals specific taste. Therefore it would be better to have a smaller mod that focuses mainly on the Hind models with some tweaks to make them more suited for the campaign (much like this mod: . Maybe they can be based on the RHS/CUP models. No need to reinvent the wheel but I don't know if that is possible.
  20. I know. Unfortunately there are some problems with the RHS models. For example you can't switch through targets for the AI gunner with the "next vehicle" button press (default R). Targets have to be assigned by the menu instead which is extremely cumbersome especially in combat situations and makes the mod almost unusable for singleplayer missions. Then there are other things like the limited view of the AI gunner, terrible aim and no indication where the gunner is aiming at. These problems do not exist in the CUP models however RHS models come with great features that CUP models don't have. Like RWR, holoscopic sight, bench gunners etc.
  21. I wonder if someone could port the Hind DLC from Take on Helicopter (ToH) to ArmA3 for my Helicopter campaign that focuses on the Mi-24 Hind and Superhind. I know there are Hind ports from CUP and RHS however while they both have their advantages and disadvantages both of them seem to be ported from ArmA2 rather than ToH. There are also a lot of glitches or missing features with both of them. I wish I could mash the RHS and CUP models together to get the best of both but so far I could not do even a basic port from ToH to ArmA although it seems to be rather easy as some people say. What I am after are the Hind models with the new features that ArmA3 provides like passenger gunners, Advanced Flight model, RWR, changeable pylon loadouts, sling loading etc. It would be nice to have some progression between the different hind models so that the Mi-24D model has less power than the Mi-24V, better avionics like FLIR, laser etc in newer models and so on. The campaign I am working on is mostly about flying Hinds and therefore it would be great to have proper models that feel like the right thing. With ArmA3 and mods this is the closest thing to a Hind helicopter semi-realistic simulator without becomming too realistic (DCS) or arcade (Air Missions: Hind). I started doing this campaign in ArmA2, then changed to ToH, then changed to ArmA3 and I have a ton of missions WIP. I hope someone can help me out here. Cheers, kibyde

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

I had similar problems. although i have a good system I got a lot of stuttering and fps drops. Disabling Battleye fixed it. Battleye is interfering with some component (hardware or software) and causes a lot of issues.

Any chance the Mi-24 turret and bench gunners get an accuracy boost? They going through ammo like crazy without hitting anything.

    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

with ArmA's Advanced Flight model and RHS Mi-24 models this turns out to become the semi-realistic "Hind simulator" I also dreamed of :D Although the AI gunner is still half blind.
