1stBN/160th SOAR Mod ArmA III WIP
war_lord replied to warlord554's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Sounds about right. Pilot, Co-Pilot, Crew Chief, Door Gunner. Then two Operators sitting at each door and four in the middle -
You're not paying for it, you're getting it for free, you have no right to complain about something a company is giving you for free. The point you're making, is that because you played the original Malden in 2001, Malden 2035 should be a recreation of Malden but 34 years later. I'm trying to explain to you that that's not possible because a large amount of custom assets would be required, for something that's being given away for nothing. And I personally don't care if you do play it or not. What I do care about is you criticizing something Bohemia is giving away because you feel you're being robbed of a nostalgia trip.
-
It's free DLC, you have literally no right to complain either way, if the map offends you so much, don't play on it. You're really not grasping how time intensive building Arma 3 quality custom buildings and vegetation are.
-
Wow, I can't believe people are complaining about a free DLC. If you want a scale recreation of OFP's Malden, CUP has one. The nature of Malden 2035 (a free to download developer side project) means that you're not going to get all new assets, because then it'd have to come with a 15 euro price tag.

Please point me to the "dozens of urban maps" for Arma 3. And no, stuff from Arma 2 running in Arma 3 doesn't count. The fact is, in any conflict, be that an insurgency, a civil war or a conventional there are strategic locations. Buildings tend to be one of those locations for a litany of reasons. I can understand that because of Arma's engine things like the multifoor office buildings can't be enterable, but there's no reason the hotels can't be fully accessible when Altis had much larger buildings fully accessible. It just smacks of shortcuts being taken to get Tanoa out faster.

smallarms NIArms Release Thread
war_lord replied to toadie2k's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Might be done as an attachment option for the Bipod slot on some G36's. ADDENDUM: Classic G36's will get the MG36 bipod, the E series and above will have a rail attachment point for any ASDG compatible bipod. -
Community Upgrade Project - CUP Terrains

This just in: Night is dark. Night Vision was invented for a reason. Although realistically even with Gen 3 NVG's it would be difficult to see on an overcast moonless night unless you also had an IR flashlight. -
Project: "Battle of Fallujah" Map
war_lord replied to Rebel Man's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Well, I wasn't suggesting manually decorating every building, I think that would hurt performance too much. I meant that if you're planning on having a building or certain buildings be a focal point of a mission, you can come up with appropriate contents, be that residential, an insurgent hideout or an IED factory. I think the folks playing a mission will understand that, for technical reasons, not every building can have full furnishings. -
Project: "Battle of Fallujah" Map
war_lord replied to Rebel Man's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Yeah, keep the custom buildings empty. With the 3D editor it's much easier for mission makers to decorate buildings themselves depending on the scenario then it used to be. -

Because a semi automatic rifle will be very slightly inconsistent from shot to shot, because parts of the rifle are moving (usually quite violently) before the bullet leaves the barrel, to cycle the next round. -

It's already on the list as of the next cycle. -
Project: "Battle of Fallujah" Map
war_lord replied to Rebel Man's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Even with a finite number of buildings (and there's a LOT of stuff in Jbad) there's a lot of ways you can use those building blocks to create a dynamic urban combat environment. And I'm totally against maps being shrunk down to tiny sizes just to have them "finished" faster. -
RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

Has already been replaced, besides the M45A1 looks nothing like the original M1911A1.- 16550 replies

RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)
war_lord replied to soul_assassin's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Seems like an IBA would be more appropriate for GREF. But I'm not sure that "timeline" alone could block anything from inclusion given that the stock M1911A1 is in the mod, despite being a museum piece at this point.- 16550 replies

Guy with the homemade shotgun holster is the famous "Shrek" who appears in "Kill Bin Laden", other dude is "Dalton Fury". "Dalton Fury" is still alive I think, writes cheesy action paperbacks (About Kolt Raynor, maverick Delta Commander turned merc who, I'm sure, has no relation to the author) and takes jobs advising everyone from video game developers, to nuclear plant security.

I'm not saying said cut down Remington 870 could come in a badass modified arrow quiver holster...

Because you're violating the terms of use, and still using the mod while violating the terms under which it's given to you. Therefore you're using something you've no permission to use, which is theft, stolen work. Whether or not you redistribute that config yourself in considered irrelevant. People have got in trouble for posting screenshots that included gear they didn't have permission to reskin, even if they didn't distribute that reskin.
-
What part of "Do not edit or redistribute without explicit permission" do you not understand? Telling people how to edit something they've been told not to edit, is violating Robert Hammer's right as the author of the work, to make whatever terms upon its use he wishes to make. It's irrelevant how long you, or anyone else has been waiting for a fix. Robert isn't under any obligation to provide one in a timely manner, or at all. As you didn't pay for it, you have no right to assume any obligation on his part. Nor do his rights as an author expire just because you wish it so. The correct thing to do is to wait for the author to provide a fix, not to publish advice that, if taken, violates the author's express wishes. You seem to have a serious problem with notions of entitlement. RH is busy with ASTFOR, I'm sure that when he's good and ready, he'll update this pack to work with Apex. Until then people should either wait, or if they can't wait, seek out an alternative.
-
You're modifying someone elses work without permission, therefore stealing it.
-
This is off topic, but just so we're clear, I myself am not a modder, I'm just the intermediary between Toadie and the BI forums. Toadie is the one doing the actual NIA content, with config assistance from Robalo and theYoursTruly. I just handle PM's, respond to common questions and relay anything I'm not equipped to answer to Toadie himself. (Sorry about the tangent Adacas) Feedback is a good thing, but as an end user one should always be very careful about making requests too often, and should always make sure they're using the appropriate tone (as making an unsolicited request is essentially asking a favor from the modder).
-
Personally the whole "wrong mags" thing has never bothered me, I'm running a vest to use it, not to take screenshots of it. Maybe if Arma 4 has modular vests, addon makers can realistically cater to everyone, but until then you just have to work with what you're (very kindly) given.
-
Editing other people's configs when they explicitly tell you not to edit their configs isn't helping anyone, it's theft. I see no quicker way to destroy this forum then folks going around ignoring the wishes of the people who actually create mods for the community.
-
Speculation is rather pointless right now, all we have to go on is a codename that's clearly taken from the Team's location and the phrase "unique perspective on the battlefield", which could mean virtually anything.
-
Please learn to type, spell, format, and to use punctuation. That might actually make your posts somewhat readable. And ALIVE mod already contains the systems to have civilian villages change attitude to a side based on things like civilian casualties or "hearts and minds" activities carried out by the players.

While I'd glad that they've rethought their initial decision to only have random parts of certain buildings actually usable (what's the point of having big towns in the map if only a fraction of a fraction of buildings are actually MOUT ready?) I feel like that's something that should have been part of the initial 30 dollar release, given that the map was the main selling point of Apex.
