Getting a rifle squad to sit down and get up when triggered.
graemeshute posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hi there I need help setting this up. I have looked online but cant find a working solution. I want a basic CSAT Rifle squad to sit on the ground as if they are off duty. Fully kitted out. Just relaxed shooting the breeze. But on trigger-(They-A quick reaction force). They get up in a aware combat state and mount a vehicle to ride off. They will drive the truck themselves. The player gets penalized if they get detected too early with the QRF coming to the area to "Seek and Destroy". I did manage to get one unit to sit and get up on trigger using unit1 setBehaviour "SAFE"; unit1 action ["sitDown", unit1]; BUT! if I place in every units initialization and changing unit 1 for each new unit. All AI units start off sitting but a second later they all stand up except for the Squad leader waiting for the Hold waypoint to switch to move. Would I need to use individual ungrouped units coupled to a join way point with finally a get in waypoint? I also want to try avoiding disabling their self preservation mechanics by disabling Auto combat mode because the player may want to shoot at them and I don't want sitting ducks. I don't mind them not moving ie running off but I also don't want one to be shot and they still sit there relaxed...IE Careless. Is there a trade off? -
The Issue is I could have a 7.62 with a UGL for CSAT. I would opt for that. If I could throw on a Drum Mag and a IR Mid Range precision scope the better. In fact if I can have that in a Lapua 338 variant the better. Yes crazy BFG Doom guns. But dealing with 5.56 or the MX rifles against vanilla CSAT and bushes. Maybe its all about marksmanship. But sometimes you just want to blow things away.

Miller was a Russian Spy for the covert Death Squad -The Putins

Can Miller just die off...badly and not like always be the main protagonist. Rambo 5 - Miller's revenge. Rocky 8 Miller on the Ropes. Transporter: It's Miller Time. The Fast and the Furious: Milli-second

Captain Obvious here SCAR H with UGL. What I meant was its a 7.62. HK 417 with a UGL all exist in real life. I am not aware of roadmap with weapon tweaks as they still haven't adjusted that SPAR weapons butt stocks to touch the shoulder. Model editing still to happen. LIM had Foldable Bipod one day next it had a Grippod. That is what i meant perhaps its planned or not? If we talking realism you don't even get an under barrel .50 attachment. Being now all technical and all. I just read now they fixed weapon Butt lengths and people asking for 417/ SPAR 7 variations.

Does anyone know if the SPAR 17 will get the UGL attachment?

Swapple Units not tied into team switching in Single Player game

Hi I would like to create a mission for Single Player. With two sections. One a two man Spec ops team is sent in to kill of some AI Crew members who are standing outside their AA vehicles. Its 4:30AM and they relaxed. Sitting around maybe one on a small patrol. Just having time off. Once these objectives are done. Killing off 3 3 man vehicle crews silently. And the Human Controlled Spec ops team leaves mission area. You then become the Squad leader of a 8 Person team. I do not want a option of team switching or Join Teams. I cannot leave the Spec ops team to the AI or other players or other human players. Not exactly SEALS. And I am trying to create the impression they independent units from two different military branches. Reconing the area to clear all AA threats before the small ground force lands on a Ghosthawk. Is this even possible? -
Lore friendly way of explaining for a AAF operation on Tonoa?
graemeshute replied to silentghoust's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Biggest issue with Arma 3. Lack of real back stories. A half assed AAF story. An all NATO story...somewhat-which turns in more guerilla story instead of combined arms really. Then we have this illusive CSAT faction...who again has no story. Apex may be the finalization of all gameplay issues inherent in Arma 3. But the story is iffy. The whole Communist China expansionists ideals of the collective could have been brought in. Regards AAF. Simple betrayal by CSAT against them (The AAF) on Altis and Straits. Civil unrest which we have with FIA and civilians winning the Coupe de tat. A new Democratic elected government opting to commit troops to the new Flashpoint on Tanoa against CSAT. CSAT pushed back by militia and organized government forces on Altis and Stratis. Tanoa lacks a military. An under funded poorly equipped Military would have served as a better independent faction against a Proxy funded CSAT guerrilla faction hell bend on over throwing the current Tanoan Government-which makes for easier picking and invasion. Look at supposed little green men and paid mercenaries in the Ukraine. Tanoa is based of Fiji and Fiji's military is basic. Against the technological behemoth of CSAT they would not stand a chance. I can only assume why a decent story of three factions was not made. Time and Money or the lack there of. The only issue why they-troops fighting-on Apex that maybe hard to explain. But you could finally brought in the Super weapon threatening world democracies and by chance it was on Tanoa. Plane shot down. Test bed for the Quake machine. -
Why do so many have a problem with thermals?

This may be a bit old-to reply. But when the US Army finally roles out XM-25's with the new 3X site. Are you going to say its cheating. In war you use anything to have an edge. The only reason they stopped with Phosphorous and Napalm was because the bleeding heart liberals complained it was a cruel way to kill someone in combat. You meant to kill off the enemy fast. If anything there should have been "smarter Weapons" in Arma 3. based on the 2035 setting. -
I was wondering why the XM-25 was cut. It would have really added some ability to send grenades very far downrange past the Maxed 400 Meters of the standard 40mm grenades. And VBS/ Bohemia Interactive Simulations had it working
-
The issue as you know the PDW's are main weapons. We also cant carry a main weapon and a side chick. Thus we stuck with kinda vanilla under powered pistols that lack attachments and damage.

Confirmed RHS is making OFP V2...well you technically have the gear somewhat

Cause no dude stairs at male butts

I assume...but maybe its too soon to ask. Non of the Marksmen DLC weapons will be upgraded texture wise to work on Tanoa?
-
# waiting on the remake. Now there is something I would pay top dollar for...
-
I really hope it will be implemented for AI units-at least to revive them. Not all of us want to play Co op always or have suitable human players. An official system would be the cherry on the top.

If I understand the post. AI units cannot be revived that are not Human controlled?

graemeshute replied to toadie2k's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Greetings Cpt. Would subsonic ammo be less detected by AI units or doesn't it matter? I cant find a conclusive answer if Sub sonic ammo has a game play impact regards stealth missions. -
Guys Bipods and Drones are like so old especially for Syndikat
-
Really impressive...I had a look at all your mods really great stuff. I know this is your thread. But I wonder if things like the Kabita will be re-textured. I smell opportunity. Of course you have just as much right to kick me under my arse and say hell no. But its like very few of the vanilla Arma 3 weapons and the marksmen DLC was updated to work on Tanoa...at least texture wise. I dont get it.
-
Do the guns go boom boom more I guess is what he is saying. Nice texture work. Pity the Apex expansion has not included new textures for the Marksmen DLC weapons
-
I see the cannibals have upgraded. Yes very different to if you Google Fiji military.
-
I was looking through the Longkat faction...seems like as someone said Doom names masquerading as another FIA guerrilla faction. Whats up with the dudes with no shoes? Are these at sea Somali pirates. Pity because now I have to use mods to make a poorly equipped under funded dated Tanoan military that would have served as a better faction.
