  1. As above. Remember all the old FPS games like TrueCombat, Infiltration, Urban Terror, etc? They all took place in old buildings, chemical warehouses, industrial sites, military bases, castles, even civilian (modern, not the shacks like in game ) homes. In Stratis and Altis, it feels like someone took about 5 buildings, and a few guard shacks, and just rubber stamped them everywhere. A little imagination in this game would be nice. Not just some satellite scan of a real island.
  2. EXACTLY! All those icons, and people running around without a care for their lives. It would be nice to have something like this in Arma, with more serious players who actually value their characters lives, but in a spot of more "urban" environment, at least a large building or two in one of the Altis "towns". And of course, if I had it my way, I'd bring in the DCS:Ka-50 as well. Love that heli!

    No women at all

Oh man, I hope for your sake their are no military females reading the forums...:p

    Tanks are... Kinda weak...

Well, not exactly the Merkava, and yes, I know of the T-95 ( which I heard was horribly expensive ), but the "other" vehicles. Really, they could have done a better job. I know there's already a thread about this, so I'll leave it at that.
  5. Oh, its ok. Pro made it to my ignore list. So did Steamtex. End of that.
  6. Yeah, but it would be interesting to take, say, the old chemical refinery for Infiltrations "Chemical Threat", or the Artic Station from "Frozen" ( don't know if any of you have ever played that mod ) or some of the old UrT maps ( like Subway ), and stick them into Arma 3. Most of these maps were pretty simple. It would give people a base they could concentrate their forces in, and would also allow for some awesome MOUT style battles. Of course, I know this would be added polys, in a rather large game, but it would make it a lot more interesting. You could spread 4 or 5 of these "interesting places" out across Altis. Kind of the best of both worlds. As for making them myself, unfortunately, I just don't have that kind of time anymore, and the editing tools are really ancient and hard to work with.

    ARMA 3 on consoles

Well, I can understand what the guy is saying, because it would bring a lot more people in. Unfortunately, consoles are no where near capable of running any of the Armas. Get a computer, bud. You'll be much happier.
  8. Oh, sorry, didn't mean to double post. Some guy above, who has now been added to my ignore list, was trying to say everything was totally, realisticly placed on the island. I was just being sarcastic, because we all know thats probably not true. :) Oh, I bet they were very careful to "misplace" a lot of objects. :p
  9. Yeah, I don't know, it just doesn't feel like the old FPS games. I guess I'm looking for a place I can turn into a base for a terrorist group, etc. Something that is fortified with a lot of rooms, places to snipe and defend from, etc. I guess an old castle type place (not a ruins or anything ) like we had in Arma 2. That was just basically some walls. Somewhere you could make a really good base out of, to defend from. Crysis bases are not exactly the best example, but they're probably the best know on here. Something like that. But yeah, I'll take your suggestion and explore a little more.

Is that one of the crystal skulls? :)

    Tanks are... Kinda weak...

Well, I wouldn't bother looking for realism on the current tanks. They all appear to be a Frankenstein mish-mash of different parts welded together.
  12. Yes, but they made very sure that every shack was in exactly the same place as on the real limnos. :j: And thats according to the "experts".
  13. Lol, whatever. I guess your the self proclaimed expert on this game, huh? And for your information, no. DCS is realistic. Arma is somewhere between game and sim. Closer to game right now. And even it was "realistic", making the place more interesting is within many players interests. Just look out how they're eating up the BF4 maps. I've played many "realistic" mods like Infiltration (UT1 mod). Weapons were pretty realistic. Places were made that were realistic, but interesting. Who cares exactly where some plant is in some town, if its really abandoned or not, or even if it ever really existed? Can you imagine how boring books and movies would be if we had to make them so realistic, they were given letters of authenticity by famous historians? Lighten up, bud. ---------- Post added at 03:16 ---------- Previous post was at 03:14 ---------- Oh, so the sci-fi crap is A-ok. But having an abandoned castle, or old chemical factory is not? You do realize that makes no sense, don't you? Exactly. Pardon me Mr. Experts, but I will wait for comments from other people.

    T100 Varsuk cannon issue

Even BIS seems to be ignoring the feed back tracker. Its totally useless.
  15. Yeah, that's why BF3 and 4 are doing so well. People went to play a different game. People play games to leave reality. I can't believe the island is that sparse. We want some realism, but a little fantasy thrown in as well. So there's no real industrial complex, or old mansion, etc on the real Limnos. Who cares? There's also no real Iranian invasion, and don't even get me started on the vehicles and weapons ( which are pure fantasy ).

Looking good, Carl. I mean, REALLY looking good.
  17. Maybe, but its pretty boring. If I wanted real life, I'd just walk out my front door. Texas looks A LOT like Altis. You can even find some stone houses like that on some ranches.
  18. Its the "future"..whoooo... Tanks now have inbuilt jets that automatically go off and right your 62 ton tank when it overturns.

    Tanks are... Kinda weak...

On the US M1, the coaxial is 7.62, plus a 7.62 for the loader. The commanders gun is 12.7 . This is probably what he's thinking of. And it makes sense. Really, for the coaxial, I would want 7.62, to spray advancing infantry with. Anything heavier that came into my sights would get the main gun. If the commander see's something that needs to be taken care of split second, the .50 is probably up to the task (hopefully). And the loader? Well, what does he care, he's busy loading. :p
  20. This. In some ways, like ballistics and penetration, its at the sim level. Other things, its like they didn't even try. And I think all the sci-fi stuff is them trying to put frosting on a turd. You can't reference what isn't real.

    Development Blog & Reveals

THIS is one of the huge problems with Arma 3. The mod tools are ANCIENT. And yet, BIS depends on the modders to really make this game. At least give us good mod tools BIS!
  22. bullet drop, MOA, wind, spin drift, atmospheric pressure, etc. :p Pretty hard to do head shots at that range in real life, especially outdoors.

    Tanks are... Kinda weak...

Exactly what I think of the "futuristic" stuff - bullshit.
  24. Its all about money. I'd be happy if they gave us a lot better mod tools, like Crysis had. Personally, though, I think BIS has made a grave mistake with going with the "majority". The majority are a fickle lot who don't hang around for long. With BF4 out, they'll all be gone in a few days, and its not like I'm seeing many posts from them anyway. So far, all we have is a big, generic sandbox with about 5 different huts, and a few buildings. The vehicles are all sci-fi-ish ( read bullshit ), and the flight models, cockpits, and controls are atrocious. The one good thing I have seen so far is good bullet penetration and ricochet, but that seems to be only on buildings and not vehicles / aircraft. Were going to have to wait for groups like ACE for now. And speaking of ACE, just saw this... dev-heaven.net/versions/1119 It say OA at the top, but lower it say Arma 3, like its been changed. Then look at the last closed issue. It was 15 days ago and labeled "Out of Scope". Looks like there's still a light on in the ACE House. One hopes.
