Bornholm, Denmark [Terrain WIP]

Amazing, I literally cannot wait for this. Combine this with East vs West Mod = EPIC battles in a Cold War Setting. This map has captured more Operation Flashpoint than any other map I've seen (even the re-hashed original maps). -
100% agree - please take 3mins to watch this short Documentary about the STINGER SAM System, some good examples of tests etc.

Kiory, if you were going to change sounds...I would go with (in the absence of proper L85A2 Rifle 5.56 recordings...and based on me using the damn thing for years) Single Shot - http://www.soundsnap.com/node/75606 Automatic - http://www.soundsnap.com/node/95729 It's a lot closer, not perfect but probably as good as you will get.

This is exactly my period, if you need any help from a historical point get in touch, I have a lot of contacts. Here is my Cold War 1986 Wargaming Blog. I have alot of vehicles and details within the PDF's Orbats on my Blog, I also have alot of other details to help you out and share information to get the realism you desire. http://stoppingtheredtide.blogspot.co.uk/ Also a mate of mine Andy, has alot of stuff here. http://coldwargamer.blogspot.co.uk/ Would love the see the BAOR with Chieftains and FV432's, I know those models exist in A2.

I love this....But is it possible to pull out the skin direct into a Photoshop Compatible File or is it because it's from BIS Source PBO we cannot extract it? If so I will create a Royal Navy and RAF Version you can add into the pack? I don't want credit I just would love it look right, especially as I'm former Royal Navy myself. I would make it 800 NAS and base it on this Model. Once I get the Template, I can do Dutch, USMC, USAF, USN whatever...If you do want to share the skin in Photoshop I will get on it immediately. Send it to mwnciboo@gmail.com To be honest the changes are tiny, it's 95% there, it just needs some minor colour grey tweaks and the markings.

I defer to others on this thread that are "Tread Heads" but I did hear something about the requirements of standardizing ammunition with the Germans and the US, and there would be significant logisitcal savings for the UK if it went to Smoothbore using Rheinmetall L55 120mm. I know that Rifled is superior at range and can push through HESH, but I believe the UK Ammunition is coming to the end of it's shelf-life and a new production run of ammo would be expensive? Therefore the Logic was argued that for an Upgrade of Challenger 2 Gun System to save money on through life Logistics? My questions would be is it true? has a decision been made either way? My observation would be, if you were doing a CHALLENGER 2 A3+ or whatever a future mark would be called, you could arguably make it a smoothbore, and therefore copy the stat line of the *Cough*Not-Leopard 2 *Cough* and use that instead and save yourself some effort and time.

Awesome Mission, our group has played this for 72 hrs and we loved it. A few observations to help you out and hopefully make a better mission... 1. Clothing is bugged or possibly locked? We would love to change our clothes more easily. 2. Loot Markers should maybe have a timeout? e.g after 48hrs the marker is removed and the Item removed, unless it is in the Base? 3. Backpacks, we cannot seem to put them in things such as trucks? Backpacks become the number 1 item really quickly. 4. In Base, I would recommend putting in 10 of the Huge Crates all empty (Maybe tweak them and double the capacity), and we could collect our own loot? Kind of like a huge persistent Vault? If you did this you could put a limit on the amount of objects out there, as it would give us a reason to head back to base when we get a good haul of loot - which is something we don't bother doing as we fight through? 5. Remove the fortifications, and a Add a small Helipad, Just to the North of the base's top left corner? 6. Is there a bug with the 12.7mm Lynx? No one can pick it up? Anyway these are all minor tweaks, which would make this perfect. The Mission is fantastic as is, but with these tweaks it gets towards perfect.

ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread
mwnciboo replied to max power's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Okay so there has been some serious development in the hand held, short range sub 2km range Commando Mortars. The UK armed Forces, US special Forces and many forces around the world are playing with these and finding them pretty damn effective. No need for a complex sight, or bipod or base plate and uses the same Ammunition as 60mm Company Mortars, leaving 81mm or bigger at Battalion level. It is basically a Visual aimed, but uses a spirit level sight ( adjusted using a set angle for a set range) which you can easily get the data from someone with a Range Finder. Here is a video of it in action. Here is the Sight spirit Level / sight unit. See this PDF for more in depth... http://www.hirtenberger.at/hds/pdf/M6C.pdf Here is the firing procedure. 1. You set the distance on the Sight and the Mil bearing. 2. You load the 60mm round required (HE , WP etc with the required charge setting). 3. You sight the weapon manually on the target bearing. 4. You then shift the angle until the Spirit Level Bubble sits between the the two markers. 5. When the bubble is in the centre, you are ranged correctly, you pull the trigger and the Mortar Round fires. 6. You can then just drop the rounds in, maintaining the angle and bearing or adjusting as required. KISS - KEEP IT STUPIDLY SIMPLE Awesome, If we could get this in ARMA3 as an indirect, short range weapon at the Platoon level I think it would be a superb addition! Smaller lighter, more agile, a two man team with a Range Finder and 12 rounds of HE / ILLUM would not be something to dismiss on the battlefield, especially if you are pinned down or hunkered down in a static position! Anyone willing to put some thought in how this could be simulated accurately? Or if someone is already working on it or a 60mm equivalent? -
Keep it up Kiory. I'm really impressed at how the community pulls together to help each other, this thread reads fantastically well and very positive.

Ballistic computer in A3 bugged?
mwnciboo replied to mankyle's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS - CONFIGS & SCRIPTING
Seems a bit too Accurate for my tastes, AI is ridiculous, it's like being mortared by a Hyper Accurate Robot. Precision Mortar anyone? -
No worries man, I didn't want to put on the Spot or anything. I'm now really interested in getting into this and doing it myself. Might want the odd bit of advice.. Anyway keep up the awesome work. Mike

That's cool man, just thought it's interesting to imagine forward, as you've already mentioned a number of other projects in the thread, I should imagine by the time you've completed all these, and the other projects I'm watching on TWITCH.TV, the MOD will have probably bought even more new Kit, or NATO will adopt a replacement for 5.56mm. As I said earlier keep up the exceptional work!

@Kiory - I've been pondering about the Future of the L85A2. I don't think the MOD will replace it anytime soon as the defacto rifle. So what to do as the A2 won't still be around in the ARMA3 Timeframe that the envisioned conflict is based in? We can always go back to older kit, but future kit we can have some fun with the designs? Well I honestly think, they will go for a partial re-engineered solution. Many Companies in the US are producing conversion kits, where you can use existing Barrels, Receivers and components (Bolt carrier assembly) in a new strong Polymer housing...An example is the Juggernaut Tactical. Turns, this... With this... Into this... So what i hear you all say? Well the MOD could do something similiar, imagine a New Polymer Body with the same Base, piston Rod System of the L85A2, in a new body? You could have some Liberal Fun, and use your creative ideas to re-engineer it as the L87A1 aka SA21....Half-way between a Tavor and an SA80, Body changes, but barrel, Magazine, trigger mechanism etc stay the same. TAVOR L85A2 They aren't a million miles away from each other now...I think a Hybrid of the two would give a 2025 AD+ type weapon. Lighter in weight, but otherwise a slimmed down modernised? L85A2

Having used one of these alot in the field, I was pretty gob-smacked at the level of fidelity, the scale, heft and textures etc are all spot on. Even the scratches on the Cheek Guard!! 10/10 - I want to donate some resource your way to reward MOD making of this Quality! :bounce3: ALSO REFERENCE THIS :- http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d7/HMS_Somerset_Boarding_Team_Member_During_Exercise_MOD_45153732.jpg (1393 kB) The L22A2.. It is still widely used by the UK Armed Forces, the FPGRM - Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines Use it in Boarding Operations due to it's compact size inside a ship Also the British Army Use it for Tank Crews, MP's or even other units have it, as it is easier to get in and out with a more compact weapon. http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/8759/l22a2sa80a2carbine12.jpg (125 kB) It would be nice if the L85 Model could be redone to create this, not sure how the hand placement would work, but it's not insurmountable. As someone who plays as Royal Marines it would be EPIC.
