  1. Was there a silent update? I am no longer seeing the recoil issues.

On another note, did they nerf 5.56 and/or buff body armor? I am playing the campaign and have noticed it takes anywhere between 5-8 shots from a 5.56 rifle to down an AAF rifleman. Have 5.56 rounds always been this weak? (I hadn't really used them until now).

when will the game Arma 3 leave the beta ????

It comes out September 12, 2013! So pumped!

  2. I wanted to like SOS, I really did, but it just didn't work for me. The sounds were too much like a movie, not enough like what they really sound like. It is still a huge shame that both devs abandoned their projects though. I know JSRS's developer had a death in the family (as a result of a fatal car accident), so he is taking leave until further notice. He will most likely return eventually though.

But from what I've seen of this mod, there won't even be a decision between JSRS and SOS, this one seems far superior in every way.

On another related point, please please do not have this mod affect anything but the sound. I don't think it was planned but I just want to make sure. It is really frustrating when a mod that should only change the sound changes something else as well. Both JSRS and SOS are guilty of this; JSRS seems to nerf several weapons including M134 miniguns (I believe it is unintentional though, not sure what happened), and SOS attempts to "balance" most weapons, meaning that some weapons including sniper rifles and autocannons on vehicles can't even kill infantry in one shot.

If we want to change these things, we can make our own tweak mods and/or download other people's mods. Please keep this mod to sound effects only. Can't wait for the release!

    Cheers,

  3. If it is a new problem, it's probably software.

(as warlord said) Update or roll back your display driver. dxgmms1.sys is the nVidia display driver.

    This is also important:

when you install the new driver, select custom installation, and check the box that says perform clean install. This will completely remove all nVidia programs and drivers, and completely reinstall all of them.

  4. I would love to be able to get to the point where we could turn off the HUD. We're already very close to doing that in aircraft, the jets and heli's HUDs have almost everything you need on them.

All we need is to integrate

    1. The ugly white locking box/diamond

    2. The shift-click waypoint (should show up as a marker on the heading tape)

    3. Damage indication

    4. The Radar.

For infantry, some things can't be taken away (such as the grenade type selection or the firemode - you can feel the selector with your fingers), but at least to make them hide as DarSideSixOfficial said.

  5. to be honest I would be pleasantly surprised to find click-able cockpits in the new DLC and maybe a deeper level of aircraft familiarisation required to operate it such as simplified start up procedures etc. However I understand that such a requirement would not be welcomed by everyone so maybe such an option could be toggled within the difficulty settings. I'm not going to go as far as to invest in a in depth explanation, but I can't see many reality orientated servers/players or to an extent coop servers operating without such features if they were implemented in the DLC.

Agreed. That level of familiarization really makes a big difference realism wise. Plus, it is so much more rewarding when you carefully follow the steps, enabling battery, starter, etc and turn the throttle to full and the engine roars to life for the first time. Much better than pressing 'W' and taking off immediately.

  6. It would be rather nice to have the clickable cockpit brought into arma 3. It doesn't have to be complex, only just as simple as ToH was. It was a small thing but it really added a lot to the game in my opinion.

On a slightly unrelated topic, It would be nice if the DLC brought with it better simulation for the spotlight on helicopters. We either need to be able to steer it (perhaps there could be an action menu option that would cause the light to follow your line of sight. toggle on > look where you want the light to be fixed > toggle off), or have two separate lights, one that points straight down for landing/illuminating LZs, and another that points forwards and allows the pilot to see in front of them while flying at night. Believe it or not, some of us enjoy flying missions at night without NVGs, and having lights that are weak and unadjustable make this very difficult.

  7. I have only played wasteland 3 or 4 times (they were the only populated server at that time), and it was alright I guess. But one of those times it was on Altis, and it sucked. It was laggy as hell (too much crap on the ground), it was impossible to find anyone, and every random event thing was >10km away. I don't see the appeal of playing on chernarus, which is also very large.

  8. Hey tpM,

I know it may be too early to ask this, but I am curious how sound from jets will be simulated.

In vanilla Arma, you can hear the jet coming, getting louder, passing, and getting quieter. This is essentially what it's like for a small propeller plane or helicopter to pass, but not a jet.

Will your mod simulate the speed of sound in relation to movement (i.e. the faster it goes, the closer to you it will be before you hear the sound)? (good reference here)

Will sonic booms be simulated for supersonic aircraft?

    Cheers
