As a fellow dutchie, I can't wait for this :) I have yet to see a dutch addon unit with "our" leopards and cv9035NL. Curious to see your HMS Rotterdam, and your Apache (even if it's a arma 2 model) already looks splendid! Best of luck to you guys!

The Eridanus Insurrection - An Arma 3 Total Modication

fhgrtqhtbgnfjnb... I'm sorry I seem to have lost my vowels in admiration for all the progress :o -
Gotta agree that between Jurassic parks deinonychus model vs the modern interpretation, it's the hollywood version that looks more menacing. The real velociraptor is also a lot smaller than depicted in jurassic park (as I said, they used the deinonychus as it's larger and more dangerous looking but kept the velociraptor name due to easier pronounciation :p). /end of nerdgasm of 1 of those boys back in those days that had every collectible figure of it etc xD On a little sidenote, the one with the feather head looks really good, and as I like to see them more menacing then the aforementioned "death chickens". That's really how I'd like to see them :P good job once again! ;) Edit: Primal Carnage has a nice raptor skin with some feather action, but still a terrifying looking raptor :) http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/296/6/9/feathered_raptor_promo_2_by_evilsmiley2-d5irybl.jpg http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/244/7/b/primal_carnage_pre_order_raptor_skin_by_ikechi1-d5d7axh.jpg just some food for thought ;)

My jaw just dropped, they look amazing! Great job!

You just basically mentioned all the dinosaurs that are in Primal Carnage xD except for the underwater one. I guess OP could look at some vids of that for some inspiration ^^

The Eridanus Insurrection - An Arma 3 Total Modication
shiftysean replied to SpaceNavy's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I'm personally thinking along the lines of static defenses here. From my limited knowledge/research I know there's things like the Mark 2488 magnetic accelerator cannon, m8 automated defense systems. Again, I haven't played Halo nor know the entire lore and when these things were used, so maybe they're from the human/covenant war era. Still some gun emplacements to take out before being able to safely land troops etc would definitely be a mission in my head :p. I'll read up on what the insurrectionists used for vehicles etc. (guessing as a guerilla like force they stole most of it :p). Also once again thanks for this mod, never played past halo 1 and partly 2, but watched a 5hour long lorevideo on haloverse on youtube as well as reading a lot about it thanks to you guys xD Edit: Links from halowiki for the guns I mentioned - http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Mark_2488_Magnetic_Accelerator_Cannon - http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/M8_Automated_Defense_System -

Imagine a good ol' CTI with halo units, and the space elevator being worth a lot of resources if captured ^^ -

I think it's once again time for me to say how very awesome this mod is turning out to be ^^. All the progress etc looks insanely good! A while back there was a discussion going on about the battleship, if it's a static air object or anything. And I'm no programmer/scripter or anything of the sorts, so I could be wrong here, but the Lost Dragons mod alpha has a battleship which apparently just uses the heli flightmodel and it seems to work pretty well. Maybe it's a lot smaller or something, but might be a solution for your battleship :) Again, you guys are my go to mod at the start of the day and I keep loosing my pants^^ Really great job! -

Right, confession time. I never liked consoles, so the only Halo experience I have was Halo combat evolved (so just halo 1) on PC, and I didn't even finish it xD However, this is the first mod I come to check up on every day on these forums, and I'm getting a case of dislocated jaw :p I know a bit about the universe, so I do recognize most units and I've seen enough footage of reach and odst at my mates (who loves the Halo franchise) to know the bigger story and units. Not only does this look ffin amazing, all the models, even going as far as adding buildings etc. but I like Sci-fi settings a lot, and with a spaceship, future troopers and even a space elevator this ticks all the right boxes for me even if it wasn't Halo. I'm equally amazed at the speed at which all these things are going, almost every other day there's some new stuff to check out so kudos to that aswell! :) I would probably have voted for you if you were still in the competition, even as a non halo junkie, so that goes to show how impressed I am at all this. Seriously nice work! I think I'm gonna have to revisit halo 1 and I believe 2 is available on pc aswell, just to get in the mood :D -
Aaaah right. Played the first campaign day of the dev release, so didn't remember it was him (to long ago:P). Glad to see someone paying attention xD
-
So after finally finishing the campaign, and afterwards deciding to do the prologue aswell, I have to say. I felt more connected to Conway and Adams than I felt for Kerry xD. I'd love for them to play a role, or even become playable again in the expansion. The banter and face to face conversations they have with each other, even in those few training missions, made them way more relatable imo. Speculations about an expansion? Like many others I hope it's something like China, taking the fight to them eventually. I'd also love to have a more modern cityscape type area for some urban combat, although I reckon that it's gonna be a performance hog if they're gonna remodell Hong Kong or something xD. Maybe have an aircraft carrier fleet off the coast, which would allow the use of the big tank transport boats, get the marines in the fold, naval bombardments etc.

Authentic Gameplay Modification
shiftysean replied to koffeinflummi's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I've looked at the bug tracker and have found no mention of my problem (so either it is just on my side for some reason, or no one actually notices xD). I find that the first shot I take with weapons (vanilla and modded) is a bit louder then the rest, like the sound just puts itself from 100% to 95% when shooting a 2nd time. (It's just a small difference in loudness, but I keep hearing it now because I know of it xD) As I was cluttered with addons, I removed every addon I had and started checking. No weird sound bug without it. Then I downloaded a few addons and systematically started testing if I could hear it again, and behold, it was when I enabled AGM. I'm curious to know if this is part of something I don't know of the addon, a bug, or just something on my end for some reason? (Anyone else experience it?) On a sidenote, I'm using a headset (which probably makes it slightly more noticable). Anyway, love your mod in any case, adds so much to the game :D Good luck! Edit: Found out that using the ear plugs gets rid of the sound difference. Vanilla units don't seem to have earplugs though, but the units from the addon I use do xD. -
JSRS: DragonFyre -- WIP Thread
shiftysean replied to LordJarhead's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Dear Lord! Oo (pun intended) That sounds effin amazing. Can only imagine what a gunfight, or even all-out war scenario would sound like with this. As pointed out before (and knowing that it's all WIP), hope you can get the correct way the gau-8 avenger sounds irl in it too. There's always something about the A10 when you hear it fire that just gets my heart racing, and I think that's important to have ingame for immersions sake ^^ I see a lot of people think the MG are too loud (not having any experience with guns irl, so I wouldn't know how they would sound) but I like them, makes you feel like there's actually a hail of bullets fired to supress the enemy :) Deffo keeping my eyes on this :D Good luck with it! -
Wow. Had a small arma break for some time, came back to see the enormous progress made here. Impressive to say the least. Love the m4 models, and looks like the hk416 is coming along nicely aswell. Guess my post wouldn't be complete without a bug report (or atleast I think it is) All the units carrying pistols have a 30rnd mag in them (and I'm assuming that's not correct) :P. Small thing, I know ;) Keeping track of this amazing addon again ;) Have a question aswell actually, don't the Dutch marines use the FN minimi aswell? Specially as an automatic rifleman position (currently that slot is filled with the FN mag ingame, guessing that's more the machinegunner though).

Was indeed wondering with todays patch if the Slammer UP is still up to par with the other tanks using this mod. Looks like lots of extra armor-plating, sacrificing the bigger gun. (It does have HEAT though! Oo)

Armor Improvement System (AIS)
shiftysean replied to bakerman's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Not sure how much better or worse it is now, but 1 of the latest dev patches had tanks seeing a transmission change (haven't played it yet since). -
true, it would be intresting to see if he can manage 1000 AI's in arma 3 by turning his pc in the NASA supercomputer:P
-
Think the official term nowadays for arma is "military sandbox" more than milsim. Awesome to hear that Olds, really excited for this :)
-
The story behind that was (which was on his channel somewhere) that he had a liquidcooled, enourmously overclocked pc that he pushed beyond the limit (he even stated having about 7 fatal crashes because he was pushing it so far) So that video is in NO WAY a realistic presentation of what you'd be able to do on an average pc :P He practically broke his computer at that point, with the best of the best available at the time. Yes it was possible, but with a hugely unstable pc that's gonna break if it keeps it up for longer than an hour. That is not a fair representation of how many AI can be thrown on a field.
-
I wonder how the cooperation (if any) will be with the AIS mod from Bakerman. He has a small script aswell that makes HEAT rockets 2 stage (so pretty sick when they penetrate). Both mods give us an awesome armor experience imo, just wonder if for instance with your added armor values, the at rifleman are useless now (whilst aiming at weakspots ofcourse). The APS he has modelled on the Slammer makes it pretty much an invulnerable tank I guess xD. The exact rear would be the sweet spot then :). I look forward to all the progress being made by these mods, it really makes tanks an awesome force multiplier :D

Hell I'm inclined to take a quick daytrip to SC, USA just to get my memory stick to him, get home, and upload it in his name!:P Worst timing ever for your network to be gone xD

ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread
shiftysean replied to max power's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Haven't read every page, so don't know if it's asked already. There's enough zombie mods out and/or being created (playing breaking point myself). But I sometimes have this urge to just create an "everything going to hell" mission between zombies and an army. To my suprise there is no zombie addon yet (and I have not found a way of using the breaking point zombies for instance in a normal arma launch). I remember for ofp that I had a simple zombie addon that gave me zombies in the editor, and a module that spawned them when I was nearby (allowing for awesome last stand battles between a lot of guns vs a lot of teeth:P) So obviously my suggestion is...zombies:P (Ooh dear...I'm that guy). Or if anyone knows a way to let me port them from a mod or anything, would be welcome too^^ -
In that case good sir, consider me enlightened and my point as invalid :P Obviously it's not as simple as "longer gun is better". But different types of APFSDS are I believe not being simulated in the game, hence I thought it would come down to mainly the gun itself. Did not know about the L55, and it is well known that that is a step up from the mg253 or the L44, so that fact alone renders my argument invalid :P The CR2's gun is rifled though as I understand it, because the brits love the HESH rounds (which is a pretty decent anti-tank round from what I heard).
-
So I did a little searching for this statement. I can't find anywhere if the mbt revolution upgrade changes the main barrel of the leopard, so I'm guessing it's still using the L44 rheinmetall (which is a good cannon, don't get me wrong). It's just that the Merkava's MG253 cannon (which is similair to the L44) is made with same alterations. The guns are evenly long (http://archive.is/TCS8R + http://www.imi-israel.com/home/doc.aspx?mCatID=68579) so the longer barrel statement isn't quite true. Also the MG253 is close to the L55's penetration and accuracy because of the slight alterations. If I'm wrong please do tell, but atm it seems as though the Merkava's gun would outclass the leopard evolutions gun in penetration, range and accuracy.
-
oww don't get me wrong, I'm willing to believe anything for the armaverse (guess I don't REALLY care about if it's actually possible). It looks amazing, and I'll be using it all the same as I don't really like the heavy nh90 for quick insertions. Rather have a lighter transport for that :p so the lynx or Dauphin will do :P I probably shouldn't actually talk about this yet, but I (along with a mate) are slowly trying our hand in 3d modelling. with me trying to get a leopard 2a6 model off the ground, and he's thinking of something (I hinted a cv9035nl to him). Don't get your hopes up, modelling is 1 thing, after that it's animations, sounds, configs etc:P Maybe with the help of these forums I can get somewhere (although I doubt I'll be able to do the entire thing solo).
